~~~Jared's POV~~~
I walked ahead of Cassie and we had just gone out of the cafe when I noticed that she was about to hail a cab passing on the street.
"There is no need for that, actually."
I informed her but at the same time, I also did not halt my steps when I talked to her. Rather than approaching her to explain a couple of things, I continued walking away; which eventually led to the increase in distance between us.
Left with no other choice, Cassie abandoned the idea of calling a taxi and she started running after me instead.
"I lived a few blocks away from here. I assume we will get there before lunch if we will start walking now."
I told Cassie when she finally got near enough to hear me. I insinuated that we should go back to my place on foot even though I am aware that the other party would probably dislike this idea of mine.
In actuality, I was prepared to receive her defiant attitude. But to my surprise, Cassie actually agreed without expressing any form of complaint. On the contrary, she even remained silent.
It might seem like she was only acting obedient. But I could tell that there was definitely more than what met the eye.
We have not yet had the opportunity to spend more time together. But even within the limited time that I am with her, I already learned that she was quite an opinionated lass.
So it beats me to think why all of a sudden, she turned reticent. To my way of thinking, there has to be a valid reason as to why Cassie became withdrawn.
I did not have the slightest idea of what was currently running inside that little head hers at this moment and my curiosity was killing me. But to avoid being branded as nosy in the other party's eyes, I held back from sticking my nose somewhere it was not supposed to belong.
However, in spite of my effort to remind myself that this was none of my darn business I still could not help but worry about Cassie.
I kept telling myself not to get bothered by it, yet still, I could not bring myself to turn a blind eye and this was what frustrate me more than anything else.
However, even after spending a long time in contemplation, I still was not able to come up with anything useful that could explain to me why Cassie was acting strange.
My head was preoccupied with my own thoughts and I was not paying that much attention to where I was going.
I trusted that my instinct was good enough so I just allowed my feet to take us to our destination. We passed several shops and a residential area along the way, but it also did not take that long before we arrived at our destination.
"Welcome to my humble abode."
I beamed at Cassie as I introduced her to the place and I was relieved when I saw how her face lit up the moment she set her eyes on her surroundings
After all, this house was where angels lived. So obviously, it was bound to reflect the divinity of its occupants.
This was technically no different from a blessed land and I personally reckoned that it was only second to the upper realm when it came down to talking about a high concentration of positive energy
For years, this very house had been our safe haven. So it only goes without saying that not only it was bathed with our divine aura on a regular basis, but at the same time, it was also soaked with the energy brought by our presense day in and day out.
Likewise, just like how the appearance of the creatures of the dark could affect its surrounding, the same thing also applied to the dwelling place blessed by the Faes.
This would explain why we could grow luscious plants in our yard even without trying.
Meanwhile, I noticed that a contented sigh escaped Cassie's lips without her knowing. On the other hand, the next thing I knew, my lips already broke into a smile upon witnessing her candid reaction.
It would be a lie to say that I am not surprised when I found myself smiling at Cassie. It was at this point that a realization dawned on me; for some reason, this little lass could affect me a certain way.
Almost immediately, I shook my head in an attempt to clear my mind because I could not for the life of me understand how she was able to make me smile, in the first place.
You should know how to identify a problem as soon as it appeared and in my personal opinion, one could consider itself to be in trouble once they caught themselves smiling over a girl.
When I found out that every little thing that Cassie was doing could put a smile on my lips, I figured out right there and then that my tribulation was waving at me.
