Chapter 82: The "Ara-Ara Onee-san"

(May 16, 1336)

My face was slowly growing darker by the second as I couldn't escape the grip of this woman, Frostine.

I had slept in the room yesterday evening after drinking some soda. When I woke up, however, I was already in the embrace of Frostine as she lay behind me, sleeping. The worst thing about this is that she has the strength of a titan and I can't find a way to escape without waking her up.

I didn't want to wake her up, she gets way too creepy in my presence.

Though I am still a child, I couldn't help but blush as I felt her breast on top of my head. Brushing my head against it, for some reason, feels good. I'm not a pervert, as far as I know, but you can't judge me for doing that, after all, why would a grown woman sleep with a child, who is completely unrelated to her? It's weird and I still feel uncomfortable whenever she breaths, as I could feel it wave against my ear.

Since I couldn't find a good solution to escape, I decided to just wake her up, lest I spend more time with her here.

"Frostine, wake up," I calmly said, tapping her waist behind my back.

"Mhm… just a bit more," Frostine… moaned?

I am tired of this. Why do the women in the sect become so weird whenever they're in my presence!? For example, Scarlet, that cat girl, and, as much as I hate to say this, Alice. I don't hate their affection just to be clear, but it feels a bit uncomfortable since I'm still a child and except for Scarlet, all of them are a decade older than me.

Why can't I just grow a bit faster???

[Because that would be dull. Experience being a child first, that's what your creator wanted. But obviously, you're failing badly at that. I mean, what kind of child kills an ogre and has various encounter with monsters that you possibly cannot comprehend, all at the age of less than five]

'Well, adults have it way better. They are tall and stuff, and my opponents are going to be scared at the mere sight of me, but instead, they laugh at me for being small! It's insulting.'

[An adult's job is to never have fun. They have to be solemn and accept everything that comes their way, even when it is something bad. All of this is just to protect the fallacy that everything is uniform. Ironic that intelligent creatures yearn for fairness, yet does nothing about it]

'Is that really how adults live? Never to have fun? How boring. I don't want a life like that, it's dull.'

[They live like that because they don't have the pretense power of those with wealth. You've seen them, the people who laughs in their delusion of grandeur; people like your weakling of a grandfather]

'Heh, don't insult me. That man is not my grandfather, he is more like a pig. I'd kill him if Delia didn't say those words.' Honestly, it's insulting how someone like that is my grandfather. Somebody who hides behind their pretense of power is nothing short of worthless. A king should be powerful, not his servants. A monarch must be capable of leading his people, not stand behind them, rambling orders.

Anyway, enough about that. I need to find a way to escape from this woman's strong arms.

Ice covered the tip of my index finger, and I touched her waist with it. But she didn't even yelp in surprise, much less wake up. She just soundly slept, ignoring my cold finger.

What is going on?

[Use your brain for a moment, Auguste. Frostine is a half-dragon, an ice half-dragon. She is capable of creating icebergs in thin air, and you use ice magic on her? And not only that, have you forgotten that dragons are immune to elemental magic?]

Well, f*ck you, too.

Sighing, I decided to do this the old fashion way.

And so, I screamed.

(A Few Moments Later In The Living Room)

My master had to do something early in the morning and left the mansion. So, my scream only alerted the servants though they couldn't do anything anymore as I'd already escaped Frostine's tight grip on me. And here we are now, in the living room, having our breakfast.

As usual, Frostine wore a flowing white dress. She seems to like dresses; she even has a black battle dress somewhere in her room.

Our breakfast was salad and bacon, which I don't dislike but it's far from my taste.

As we ate, I said, "Please don't do that again. It's not polite for a grown woman to suddenly sneak into the room of a child and hug him while sleeping and also fall asleep with the said child while in her arms. It was uncomfortable." I am obviously irritated by the fact that I had to scream, just to get out of her arms.

"I can make some rearrangements, but, next time, sleep in my room. If I knew you were coming, I would've taken you to my room," She said in a monotone voice while wearing a blank face while putting her spoon down.

I know her well enough as I've trained with master for some time in his backyard. I purposely avoid Frostine whenever I come here due to her, uh, weird tendencies to hug me. Most of the time, however, she can sense me when I'm in her house and I'm not too happy with that, as you may have guessed.

It's like we're always playing a game of hide and seek, but this time, though, I'll admit; I was caught off guard.

And I blame my master for this. He pampers his daughter way too much. He doesn't even stop her when she interrupts my training just to put me in her embrace.

"By the way, why did your father leave?" I asked while bringing food to my mouth with my spoon.

"Father went out in the morning to go to a meeting with the elders. It's about the Rank Battles and the sect's security. Many high-profile offspring of clan leaders were entered into the sect as D-Rank disciples, and that brings worries to the elders. Most demi-human clans are popular for their rivalry with each other, and the clan heirs might just murder each other in the Rank Battles. The sect might get blamed for the murders of clan heirs if that ever happens," She explained to me, patiently.

"So? The entire sect is stronger than all the clans combined," I said, a bit confused.

She shook her head, saying, "Yes, we might be one of the strongest, but we don't have enough resources to keep our people alive. The Demi-Human Clans take care of that by sending some of their resources to us, most of them are clothing, food, wood, steel, wool, livestock, etc."

"But doesn't the main sect take care of that?" I asked.

Again, she shook her head, and said, "That is a common misconception among the new disciples. The main branch only brings cultivation resources and not resources such as food. We live underground, and the forest on top of the sect cannot be cut down for wood because that'll reveal that there are people living here to the ordinary mortals."

Quickly, everything pieced themselves together in my head.

"So if the clan heirs were murdered in the Rank Battles, there might be the chance that the clan heads might decide not to send any more resources to us. But I am still missing one part; what do they get from sending us resources anyway?"

She smiled, and said, "You catch on quick. It's cultivation resources. Most of the time, the cultivation resources given to us by the main branch are more than enough, so, after some deduction, we trade the rest to the clans. It's a win-win situation for both sides."
