Temple

Khan walked along the barren ground, over piles of rubble, and through damaged hulls. He was but an ant compared to these titanic structures. The ground crunched with his every step, the land eviscerated from the crash landings and never recovered.

His eyes spun, wondering how he could ever survive such an onslaught of ships. If the republic gathered such a force against him, could he survive?

With every inch he moved forward the feeling of powerlessness set in further.

Even with a superweapon capable of mass-producing ships and droids, they still failed. Can he really do better? Should he have left Sh'shuun?

His shoulders started to drop and his feet became heavy. Every step forward was harder than the last. Didn't he run away before and hide in a mountain because he knew he was weak? Why did he fool himself, thinking he could change, that he could be powerful.

He's a scientist, a researcher, not a warrior. The scenes of the commandos pouring into his lab played over and over in his head. He could feel the sting of the bullets that poured into his body again.

Wouldn't that be his fate again? Destined to die in some unknown corner? His steps finally stopped, his body about to turn back.

The moment he lifted his foot from the ground he paused. "So what?!? So what if I die, so what if I fail. If the path towards eternity was so easily achieved it wouldn't be my turn."

His foot landed heavily on the ground and pulled himself forward. "If anyone wants to pull me down again, to take my life, they better be ready to lose everything."

The dark side reverberated around him, fueled by the very planet itself. With every step forward the doubt vanished and his strides became light. His ambition and pride fueled him further, the force seemed to be at his fingertips.

"Fear? Anger? Pain? Rage? I won't use such fickle and barbaric emotions to fuel my power, you can't corrupt my mind. I have tasted immortality, my foot has stepped on that path. My judgment can't be clouded now!"

"No one can block me anymore!!" The force erupted around him when he screamed. The wasteland faded around him, replaced by a forest of sickly green trees and tall dry wheatgrass.

In front of him was a pile of rubble with a lone lightsaber sitting at its center. The handle had been charred black and the emitter had two prongs extending from the side.

The dark side flowed through the blade like nothing he'd ever seen before. Just as he was about to take it, a roar filled the forest.

"Raaaaraaghhh!!!"

The ground trembled as three creatures rushed towards him. With a swing of their lanky arms, they knocked down trees with ease. Saliva dripped from their sharp teeth, they approached Khan like they saw their next meal

"Rancors." One hand stretched towards the saber and the other at a Rancor. He could feel their bodies were corrupted by the dark side; So he didn't try and tame them, it would take too much time.

The lightsaber flew towards his hand at the same time lightning struck at the rancor. When he grabbed the blade he felt a rush of power flow through his body.

The power of his lightning nearly tripled. If what he was doing before was shooting electricity, now it was real Sith Lightning. The color changed from blue to dark purple. The air crackled and the lightning burned through the leathery flesh of the beast.

"Graaaaa!!!"

Its body spasmed and its body became near translucent. The Sith Lightning was destroying and corrupting his body from the inside, well beyond the heating his lightning used to do.

The other two rancor closed in, his other hand dropped towards the ground and ignited the lightsaber. A crimson red blade shot from the emitter and pierced the ground.

The red glow illuminated the forest and cast an eerie glow on Khan. The rancor reached for him, thinking it could easily crush his body.

The blade seemed to sing as he waved it upward, humming for the first time in over a thousand years.

"ARAAAAAGH!!!" The rancor's hand fell to the ground and it reeled back in pain.

Khan turned towards the one approaching from the front and threw out the saber. The blade slid through the air and impaled it right in the forehead.

When the saber left his hand his lightning returned to its previous state. Even so, the rancor still dropped dead to the ground.

With two rancor dead, he turned towards the last one. He held out his hand and the saber was pulled from the rancors head.

He felt the power return again, holding the blade with both hands his body turned into a blur as he rushed forward. He closed the gap with the rancor and the blade rotated in his hands. Cutting from the bottom up, he split the rancor from its gut to its throat.

The beast gave one final struggle before it collapsed to the ground.

Khan looked at the blade in his hands with wide eyes. He knew this was the thing calling him when he neared the planet. At first, he thought it was Raven's Holocron but he was wrong.

"This saber can only belong to Darth Malak." He extinguished the blade and looked at the burnt hilt. "I can't believe it survived the explosion and ended up here. What material is this made of?"

He turned the hilt around in his hand, while some parts seemed a bit melted. The lightsaber is fine overall.

Khan sat on the ground, surrounded by dead rancor, and started meditating. He placed the lightsaber in his lap and infused it with the dark side of the force.

Time passed and the crystal became attuned with him through the force, mainly because it did not resist him.

Opening his eyes he noticed the sky had turned dark. He clipped the blade to his waist and continued walking. He knew it hadn't been a few hours, but a few days.

With Malak's lightsaber, his control over the force had greatly increased.

He could already sense the location of the Holocron through the strong dark side energy ahead.

"There should be more lightsabers in the wreckage here, a few Dark Jedi and Jedi should have fallen here." Khan continued walking, already close to his destination.

The battle took place in the skies over the temple, so the location of the crashed ships wasn't too far.

Under the light of the moon, he saw the temple. A huge stone pyramid structure stretching into the sky, with the sea at its back it was a breathtaking view. The top had three forks still standing to this day.

Khan entered the temple and began searching. Most of the temple was empty, completely cleaned out of any artifacts. On the bottom floor, he found a destroyed Rakata computer, but his attention was drawn to the wall behind it.

He raised his hand and pulled with the force. Nothing seemed to happen at first, but a square seam eventually appeared on the wall.

He kept pulling until a large brick was yanked from the wall. Behind the brick was a red Holocron in the same shape as the temple. Khan reached inside and pulled it out.

Before he activated the Holocron, he sat on the ground and placed his bag in front of him. He pulled out a few instruments and began scanning the Holocron and recording the markings on it in detail.

He set up a recording device and attached a few probes from the computer on the sides.

When everything was ready, he imbued the dark side of the force inside the Holocron. The pyramid glowed red and a light shot from the top. A man wearing armor and robes appeared with a Mandalorian mask on his face.

Revan took one look at Khan, neither of them said a word as silence filled the temple.

"The dark side is strong with you, I can sense a natural affinity with it, But you are no Sith."

Just as Khan was about to respond Revan continued. "It matters not." Revan looked at the lightsaber at his waist. "I will teach you what it means to be Sith. It's more than just a name or a title, it's a code. Once you truly understand its meaning you will be Sith, anyone with a lofty goal is destined for it. Peace is a lie, there is only passion."

When he heard the familiar line he thought Revan would repeat the whole code to him but he was wrong.

"You may think the first line was made just to condemn the Jedi, but that is wrong. Peace doesn't mean the literal meaning, but can be anything. For some, peace may be farming every day and spending time with loved ones."

"But it's all a lie, their peace means nothing if someone can take it from them. Just because I want it I can take it, because I have strength."

"Because I have passion I gained strength, with my strength I gained power, with power I gained victory, through victory my chains are broken and I am free."

"Free, that is true peace. Peace gained by your own power, that is Sith. I don't know what your peace is, but I'm willing to die for mine. Seeing that saber at your waist I know I failed, but I do not regret it. Go forward with everything, leave no regrets, that is Sith."

Khan listened, as he did he realized Revan was right. He died because he achieved his dream without gaining power first. If you can't hold onto your peace, it's nothing more than a lie.

Revan continued to speak, before he taught him any techniques, he taught him the history and what it meant to be Sith.
