Chapter 4

Arabella reached the hallway door and leaned against it to hear the noise coming from the other side. She analyzed the situation in a split second after hearing guards converse with each other.

'There are only two guards right outside the door…'

Her expression turned icy cold at the vulgar conversation of two guards.

"Hans, that lucky bastard. He's fucking with that pretty princess while we're guarding their door like dogs."

One of the guards was mouthing off about his now dead colleague.

"We will get the chance to taste her too. Hans said she begged him to come to her cell after his shift, so she will open her legs to us for sure if we just show her a little bit of kindness."

The other guard laughed giddily, may be pleased about the delusional fantasy of his.

Arabella opened the hallway door and took a step further towards them.

"Man did you already finish…!!!"

The guard thought it was his colleague who went to have his time of life with the princess. But his eyes widened in shock when he saw the small woman with red hair coming out of the door, wearing a guard's uniform.

"What is going…!!!"

In the blink of an eye, she thrust the knife into his belly.

"Unfortunately, I think you won't get the chance to taste me."

She struck a strong blow at his head as the man let out a soundless cry as he clutched his stomach and sank to the floor.

Arabella then turned her head and looked at the other guard, who was standing there staggering under the sudden shock as his mouth fell open. He froze from the horror he had got to witness

Arabella's lifeless eyes took on a gleam and met with his eyes. She smiled. Even though she looked calm, she was excluding dangerous energy around her. The shocked guard broke out in goosebumps. At that moment, a realization struck him.

She will kill him.

His human instinct of survival was responding to the threat of death. The guard fell onto his knees and started begging for life.

"I won't tell anyone what happened here and what I saw. Just spare my life, please! I'm begging you!"

Arabella's pink eyes swept over the guard, who was kneeling at her feet with his whole body shaking. Then she picked up the dead guard's sword and approached him. The fate was cruel, bad luck he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. But it's her only one chance, and she couldn't afford to screw it.

"No"

Arabella answered curtly as she got closer to the man. She held up her sword to his neck, and the next moment the blade cut through his throat. Blood spurted from his mouth as he made an effort to speak, but he could not and slowly collapsed to the floor.

She walked past the dead guards and left to find the exit. She was currently on the third floor of the prison. The prison entrance was on the ground floor. In order to slip out undetected from here, she needed to pass by the back entrance.

She reached the stairs and ran down. Half through the way, she heard someone coming up the stairs. It looked like the guard was going on patrol. She slowed down her pace and waited for him to approach her.

"Who's there…!!"

When the guard on patrol noticed the woman in a guard's uniform, standing in front of him holding a sword in hand, he understood what was happening.

"Shh…Don't make any sound," Arabella whispered to him softly.

The guard didn't get any chance to react as she already attacked him and took his life right the next second. The man's body plunged down the stairs.

Arabella continued running down the stairs. Nobody heard her moving, thanks to her bare feet. After a moment, she reached the end of the stairs and silently walked forward. She tried to observe her surroundings as much as she could. If there were more guards she didn't see and take care of without letting everybody know, her escape attempt will fail. She took several turns before she got close to the back entrance of the prison.

'If I made it pass through this door without too much trouble, it means I already went through half of the way to my revenge.'

She heard the sharp sound of shoes walking that lead towards the place she was right now. The guards who were walking in front noticed the woman standing in their way. At first, they couldn't identify her, but as they got more closer to her, they recognized Arabella by her hair color.

A criminal is escaping!!!

"What do you think you're doing?"

Without wasting any time, Arabella was engaged in a fierce battle with them. Every time the sword she was holding glistened in the air, the guards fell to the ground one by one. Even If they were the prison guards that keep the country's most dangerous criminals, this sole woman was enough to take them all down. Arabella was far superior.

Arabella had a short space of time before other guards find them. She had to deal with them as soon as possible.

"You bitch! I will make you regret once I catch you!" the last remaining guard shouted angrily at her and tried to grab her. But Arabella was moving faster than he's capable of.

She drove her sword into his neck before he grabs her. Muttering out a few more curses, as he got his throat sliced, the man slowly collapsed to the floor. She didn't even have a second to look back. She had to escape right now!

Arabella began to rummage through the guards' pockets and found the key. She opened the back door and ran through the dark forest. Behind the cloak of darkness, her silhouette vanished without any trace.

'I did it!' she had successfully escaped from this suffocating place.
