It Wasn't A Dream

This time, Lilian Mo was in a white room that looked like a clinic, the four walls looking awfully familiar to her.

She was sitting on a bed and a white blanket was covering her lower body. Her hands were wrapped in bandages.

A tall man was wearing a hospital cloak approaching her. He carried a medicine kit in his hands.

This man was wearing a pair of glasses and his familiar features immediately told her who he was.

"Dr. Fang..." She called out, knowing that he dislikes being called Dr. Lin. There was also a doctor in the base with the surname Lin to avoid confusing the two, Lin Fang was known in the base as Dr. Fang.

He smiled at her.

"Miss Mo, this time you were really reckless. Your leg was sprained and your hands suffered from major burns." He handed her a bottle of water and painkillers.

"It's because Dr. Fang's admirers are too many. This can only be blamed on Dr. Fang's handsomeness. Maybe if you disfigure your face, then this little sister won't be troubled anymore. "

Lin Fang laughed at her joke. "Miss Mo is really funny."

"I really dislike Dr. Fang's face."

He laughed again and went to ruffle her hair. His lips had begun to smile as he fondly stared at her like a doting older brother.

Lilian Mo knew this scene. Feng Ran and her lackeys had caused trouble for her yet again. In the end, she got cornered and had to use her ability to fight. It was just her luck to fight another fire ability user of the same level.

The bastard had his face burned off by her but her hands suffered major burns as well. She also sprained a leg and suffered some beatings which were why bruises littered many parts of her body.

She had to drag her weak body towards Lin Fang's clinic. Before she could collapse, he took notice of her and brought her inside.

Lilian Mo sighed.

This man really thought she was joking.

"Miss Mo, please rest for a few days. Don't push yourself too much. Some missions are too dangerous for a girl like you to go alone. Miss Mo should start teaming up with other people. It'll be less dangerous." Lin Fang suggested to her as he went to undid her bandages.

He carefully and gently applied the ointment on her. Lilian Mo would have been touched if it weren't for the fact that one of his crazy admirers was the cause of her current predicament.

"Dr. Fang, thank you for helping me. But... this is the last time. Please don't worry, I'll definitely pay you for your help. I have crystal cores at home. I'll give them to you..." Lilian Mo said.

Lin Fang had been puzzled by her cold attitude that day. And true to her words, Lilian Mo did not see him again. The next time she did, she was nearly violated by a group of people that Feng Ran instigated to sully her.

Lin Fang was her savior who arrived.

At that time, she was a little discontented. Even though he saved her, he had been the reason why Feng Ran made things hard for Lilian Mo. She had already distanced herself from him but Lin Fang didn't think she was serious and he continued to approach her, still maintaining a friendly relationship with her.

"Dr. Fang, you are really making things hard for me. I'm thankful for your help but I don't want to keep troubling you. Please ignore my existence from now on."

"But why? Miss Mo, have I done something to displease you?"

"It isn't you... I hope Dr. Fang won't make things difficult for me. Otherwise, I might be forced to leave the base and look for someplace else."

"Miss Mo--"

The next time she saw him, he had become a half-mutant monster at Level Seven.

"Miss Mo.."

...

Lilian Mo opened her eyes and stared outside the window in a dazed manner.

She didn't usually dream but what she dreamed about really made her feel uncomfortable.

Lin Fang, Sister Xi and then Lu Jingren...

These three people left a huge impact on her during her past life.

She was relieved that it was only just a dream but remembering them again really made her feel uneasy.

She turned away from the window and looked at the person beside her when she noticed that she was being watched.

It was Lu Jingren.

Lilian Mo became dazed again. Surely, she wasn't dreaming again, right?

She pinched her arm. The pain registered which meant it was real. This also caused her to notice that her hand was being held by him.

It...it wasn't a dream? Lilian Mo paled and turned as white as a sheet.

The Marauder suddenly stopped.

"People and a car are blocking the road ahead." Mizuki Rei announced somewhat irritated.

Lilian Mo took this chance to snatch her hand away from Lu Jingren as if she was burned. She got out of the Marauder and volunteered to check it out. "I will go take a look."

She didn't wait for a reply and hurriedly walked ahead, her heart beating out of fear and nervousness.

Her hand that was held and was still feeling cold was trembling. She quickly tucked it inside her pocket just so she wouldn't be reminded that it was trembling.

Up ahead, she could see two women, a man, and a small figure arguing.

Yet in her heart, there was only relief after having distanced herself from the source of her anxiety.
