As soon as I woke up I knew I was in the infirmary. Did that mean my class saw what happened?
"Now, you have to explain everything that happened to your teachers and peers."Ghost said in my head. Jeez, His voice was annoying.
"Be quiet." I covered my eyes with the back of my hand.
I turned my head to the right and the face saw scared the life out of me. Makato was sitting in a chair beside my bed with his eyes closed and legs crossed. He looked seriously mad that he had to be here.
"You're annoying, you know that?," Makato grumbled.
"Did everyone see what happened?," I asked.
"Yes. Obviously I can read minds so there's no intruder. But, you'll have to convince everyone else that it's you."
"Since I'm inside your mind can he read my mind?," Ghost asked.
"Yes," Makato answered. "I suppose if you're feeling refreshed you can come back to the dorms. If that's okay with Ms. Eri."
Eri was sitting at a desk working on a laptop. Instead of turning around she put her thumbs up.
"If you want I can explain to them what happened for you," Makato offered.
"That would be amazing,"I sighed in relief.
We began to walk down to the dorms.
"Have you been feeling okay lately?," Makato asked me while we were walking. "I know things have been hard lately."
I looked at him. "I'm completely fine. Why do you ask?"
"I, uhm, I've been figuring stuff out lately and I didn't want to come to you with my problems without knowing you were okay first," Makato said.
"You've been talking a lot more lately," I noticed. "That's good. But go ahead, dude. Talk your head off."
"I just remembered that time you asked me about my, er, life."
"Oh that."
"And I-I think I'm....gay"
"Ok,"I shrugged my shoulders. "What else."
"Wait, so you don't care?"
"Not at all, your life. Live it the way you want."
Makato's voice sounded relieved. "Well I just, I've been feeling happier ever since I found out and I wanna brighten up my looks a bit. Mind helping me?"
"Why not."
I was actually really happy Makato figured himself out.
"Okay, what about gender?," I decided to ask.
"I still feel like a boy," Makato said.
I opened the door to the dorm building and walked into absolute chaos. Everyone started screaming when they heard the door open.
"BEGONE DEMON!," Tadashi yelled.
He had a lamp shade over his head with the staff in his hands. He had it pointed at me. Everyone else had some sort of object that could be used as a weapon. Nori had a fricking...butter knife in her hand. She slowly walked towards me and when she got close enough she asked me, "What was the first secret of mine that I never told someone I've just met before, but I told you."
"W-Why are you asking?," I started to get nervous. Nori's scary sometimes.
She held the knife to my throat which caused me to stiffen up. "Just answer the question."
"You said that your real intention was never to become a hero and although you respected your parents you only came to U.A. because you felt you had to support your brother." I answered. "Did I get it correct?"
Nori lowered the knife to her sides and clenched her fist. She held her head down. "You idiot...IDIOT!" She yelled.
I stepped back, shocked by the volume of her voice.
"Why do you keep scaring us like this?," her voice cracked. The pain in her voice made me flinch. "It all started after you met the crappy father of yours! Ever since you found out about this new quirk of yours you've gotten even more quiet and cold as everyday passes by. She gripped my shirt and began to tug at it. Her eyes began to tear up.
"I just want you to go back to normal, Daiki!," Nori buried her head in my chest.
"Wait, what's going on right now? Who's crying?," Tadashi asked.
Hijiri smacked him in the back of his head which sent him the message to shut up.
"I don't-am I really that different?," I looked at everyone.
Makato started to get a huge interest in his sneakers. He started to sway back and forth on his toes and heels.
"I'll admit, you can go from sweet and a huge nerd to a cold jerk," he said. "It's been bothering everyone. Someone is only just now saying something."
Everyone else nodded in agreement with him. If I were to say I had no idea they all felt like this i would be lying. I gave Nori a tight hug and put my nose in her hair.
"I-I won't change," I promised. "I swear."
Even while Nori was hugging me...I still had the feeling she was pointed that butter knife at me.
"Now, come inside," she whispered.
[An hour Later]
My hair was finally long enough to put in a ponytail. I say, it really made me look "manly." I was in Makato's room. I spun around in his rolling chair.
"So, what do you want to look like?," I asked him.
"I just want to look more...bright, if that makes any sense. I guess I've been feeling happy lately," he told me.
"So does that mean you want to get rid of the black hair?,"I asked.
"Yes," Makato answered. "I was thinking blonde."
"So, are blonde boys your like, type or something?" I started to spin even faster, but stopped when I got dizzy.
"I-I'm really just into any guy who's handsome and nice," Makato said.
"You got any dye?," I asked.
"Yeah, I figured you can help me because of your hair."He pointed at the blue.
I didn't say anything. I stayed quiet for a long time until i broke the silence.
"It's not dye...Makato, this is my natural hair color,"I laughed. "I can still help you though."
"Oh, okay."
Makato's always been dry like this. But, I'm glad he's speaking more. I wonder if I made that happen. As I was working on his hair I decided to make conversation.
"I remember the first time we spoke to each other you insulted me. I think you called me a bug or a fly. What was up with that?," I asked.
"Sorry about that," Makato apologized. "I guess I didn't know how to speak to people. And I was jealous about your quirk. When I found out I thought 'This isn't fair. Nobody's ever given me anything special before.' I wondered why everyone in my class had such amazing quirks with so much power. While I had a stupid mind quirk."
Something about his last sentence really ticked me off.
"Look at me," I told him.
"Huh?," Makato uttered.
I grabbed his shoulders and turned him towards me. I was on my knees on his bed while he was in a chair so he was looking up at me. "Your quirk isn't stupid! A quirk like that is only fit for people as smart as you. Jeez, the power to read minds, create nightmares, and possibly control them. It's lucky to have fell in your hands. If someone else got it, they would've been in control of the league or...Yuu. Remember this is your story and you chose the right choice no matter how bad or hated you felt. You may not show it but, you've got a great heart, that's why I love you, Makato."
Makato didn't say a word. I turned his chair back around. "Don't let me recite the same speech another time, okay?"
No response.
[Six Hours Later]
"Watanabe, man is that you?," Riki asked. "Your like a totally different person."
"He looks so nice!,"Kiyoe said. "Did Daiki de-dracula you?"
"Yeah," Makato answered. "I really like it." He looked back at me.
I winked at him. The bags under his eyes we disappearing and his skin wasn't as it used to be.
"Yes, the Nakamura works his magic!," Tadashi ran over and hooked his arm around my neck and ruffled my hair.
"Cut that out!," I growled.
"Everyone it's time to go to sleep!," Akio ordered. "It's late. At least go to your dorm room if you plan on staying up."
I've been trying to sleep for the past hour but my head wouldn't turn on it's resting switch. I even tried soothing music but nothing worked. The same name kept repeating over and over in my head.
"Makato, Makato, Makato," I thought. I even started to mumble it.
Did I really tell him that I him and was I thinking. I don't know if I really do but I needed to clear things up with him. Makato's...interesting and straight forward. I guess he's done a good job at showing more emotion. He still makes me stiffen up. What the heck is that supposed to mean. Are my brains nerves still reacting to when he said he was . Nope, I am not doing this. Not today.
I walked out of my dorm room, my pillow hugging against my chest. Before I could knock on his door it already swung open. There he was, standing there, just a few inches taller than me. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Nothing came out of my mouth though. I in fact froze in place. I started to overthink all of the outcomes. A weird mouse like sound came out of my mouth.
"A-Are you okay?,"Makato asked. "Why are you making that noise."
I looked him in the eyes. They were bright.
