Down to Bones

The surreal mystical floating sensation in that miasma of imagined and unimagined semi-darkness extended for awhile longer until he was nudged awake.

"You can awaken now."

Gabriel took a deep breath and opened up his eyes.  Immediately, his perception sharpened.

He was lying in a glass structure that looked like a pill capsule.  All around him was a liquid of some sort.  It was like water, but it was far more than just water.  The viscous semi-transparent liquid was nurturing him almost like amniotic fluid.

Beyond the watery glass pill, he could see colors and shapes.  There was light and shadows and indistinct sounds but they were blurry and undefined.

"Can you hear me?"  The voice asked.  It wasn't coming from outside.  It was inside his mind.  Unlike the amalgamation of muffled sounds all around him, this one came through clear and crisp.

He nodded.
