Chapter 116 - Back at the Arena

'Let's just get on with it then.'

Rynold sat down at the newly made bed frame to see whether it was comfortable or not.

Surprisingly, Rynold felt some sense of relief as soon as he sat down. It wasn't anything special, really. The bed frame was completely sturdy and didn't even budge after putting all of his weight on it. What's more, Rynold received the additional recovery bonus too.

The bed frame gave added benefits Rynold had never even thought of in the first place.

'I wonder if I should do a career change into furniture making because, damn, this is pretty nice.'

He slowly lifted his feet onto the bed frame and laid down. It was then that he felt another recovery bonus added to his status. Rynold speculated that the more 'rest' a person would be doing in this thing, the bigger the bonuses they would have.

But, before getting really comfortable with the thing, Rynold decidedly got back up because now was not the time for him to sleep.

Walking towards the tunnel that led back up, he shot his grapple onto the ceiling of the cage. From there, he gathered the scattered documents on the floor.

Rynold decided that now was the time for him to clean up his mess because, soon enough, the guards would barge into his cage again for an upcoming arena match.

He had gotten the timing down to the tee, and, with Axion's help, he would be able to better coordinate with the threats outside of his room.

After placing the scattered pieces of paper in his inventory, Rynold tried to wake Lissa up to no avail.

Clearly, she was tired from the roller coaster of emotions that she had felt the night before. So, with that, Rynold carefully cradled her with both hands. He gently lifted her and carried her towards the tunnel.

During the slow descent, Rynold was able to move the young Princess without startling her awake. Thankfully, it appears that the girl was a relatively deep sleeper.

Without so much as a sound in his footsteps, Rynold moved Lissa onto the bed frame. It wasn't as comfortable as Rynold would like it to be, but it was still better than sleeping on the ground.

What happened next was something that Rynold had spent some good time thinking about. Which, ultimately, led to what he would do next.

Pulling up his Inventory window, Rynold scrolled through his items. Thankfully, now that most of the items he had in there were brought out when he set up his workstation, it didn't take long to find what he was looking for.

[Blazing Arrow]

Magic Skill Book

Conjures a Fire-Attributed Arrow when cast. Hits on opponents are dealt 10 base Fire Damage.

Cost: 2 Mana

Rynold pulled out a Magic Skill Book from his inventory. It was one that he had gotten during a random arena fight against a bunch of unnamed ghouls.

Truthfully, at first, Rynold decided that this particular spell meant nothing. Its damage was low and didn't really receive its worth when it comes to an actual battle.

However, that all changed when he read the actual text of the book.

That's because it was the first ever Conjurer spell that he had ever seen.

From the books that he's read, the feats of a Conjurer was nothing to be joked about. There were some Conjurers in history wherein speaking their names would mean Taboo.

Combat-wise, Rynold knew full well how powerful a Conjurer could be.

A typical Conjurer would excel with mid-ranged combat because of their mastery over their equipment and the spells to back it up, the most common of which are Summoners.

The rarer Conjurers are the ones that used spells like the one that Rynold had decided to give to Lissa. A combat-oriented Magic User that is only ever depicted in literature as true champions of the magic world.

A Creationist.

Creationist-type Conjurer utilized a lot of different spells that made use of their control over their own Mana. In fact, there was someone stated in the books that used swords made out of the Light Attribute as their weapon of choice.

"Are you sure you want to give that spell to this Human?" the Spirit of Fire asked after observing Rynold's actions quietly.

Rynold scoffed earnestly.

"There really isn't much for me to do in case things go awry. We need every single hand on the line here in order to make sure that we get out alive. Things don't normally go the way they want you to," Rynold responded roundaboutly.

"You didn't answer the question," Prominence Alpha pressured, hands crossed.

"Yes, I'm sure," Rynold answered with determination. "And, I want you to watch over her and teach her what she needs to know about Mana. We're kind of a tight schedule here, and I don't have the time or the resources to make her stronger in a short amount of time."

Rynold knew he was asking too much by that request even he, himself, wasn't expecting the Spirit to answer. He didn't hold out much hope for Prominence Alpha to teach her anything.

"Fine," the Spirit of Fire answered without even a moment of hesitation, much to Rynold's surprise. "On the condition that you must make a proper vessel to store my power. Only being able to use 10% of my power isn't going to do either one of us any favors."

"Fair enough," Rynold nodded as he answered. "It's about that time already. I'll be back soon so try not to kill her while I'm gone."

Shooting the grapple and launching himself back up, Rynold closed the tunnel entrance with the trapdoor that he had made. Just placing it on the hole made it appear as if nothing's changed.

He sat down at the same spot where he would normally be and decided to wait for the guards to come barging into his cage.

Rynold recalled Axiom and placed the Accord Sphere back into his inventory.

In just a few minutes, the door opened and the guards did exactly what Rynold had expected them to. As the guards "gently" lifted Rynold up, he was reminded of the times when he spent fighting against monsters for his life.

Compared to the one-sided beating that he administered to the monsters here, Rynold would much rather fight with honor. Or, at least, monsters that give better drops.

Regardless, Rynold wasn't given much choice to do anything else but to fight. He was practically forced to do that because his priority was to maintain his secrecy.

As they made their way to the arena, Rynold was silently lamenting the fact that whether or not he had approached the situation correctly. There was no way of telling how bad things would end up when he would have to face the final boss.

Perhaps, getting stronger by grinding out levels would have been the better option. Despite his worries, though, there was no point in thinking about those things.

Soon, Rynold approached the same metal gate that he had passed through many times before. He walked out into the arena center and waited for whatever creature would face him.

It was then that Rynold heard a loud roar coming from the metal gate that was opposite from whence he came.

'What the hell is that?' Rynold was stunned at the sudden noise.

It wasn't because the creature sounded hurt or anything. Rynold was surprised because whatever made that sound seemed full of life. At the same time, full of danger too.

'Shit.'

The ground started trembling and the sound of hooves slamming against the ground became louder and louder.

Rynold clenched his teeth and looked at the metal gate with eyes as alert as the time he fought against the Behemoth Ghoul. Whatever this thing was, Rynold knew he can't take it easy anymore.

The silhouette of a creature as big as the metal gate appeared, but it didn't seem to slow down.

It forcefully slammed against the metal gate, crashing it open. The strength of the creature was obviously no joke. Neither was its body size that towered over Rynold like some sort of menacing threat.

'Scan.'

He held his breath in the pure pressure that was coming off the creature. Rynold knew he wasn't facing something where he can hold back.

===

[Mutated Bison Lvl ???]

An ordinary bison that was mutated by the Red Rain. It was then forcefully captured after being severely injured. A series of experiments were then done in the hopes of forcefully making it stronger. Now, it has lost all sense of consciousness but gained unnatural power.

Before Rynold could make a plan to take that thing down, the Mutated Bison didn't give him much time to think.

The creature charged at Rynold without remorse and tried to gorge Rynold open. Thankfully, he was able to dodge in time and situate himself beside a weapon rack.

From there, Rynold grabbed a weapon and prepared himself for a rough battle ahead.
