Reason

After a few minutes passed and they arrived at the divider that separated the plain from the forest.

"So, can we get started?" Alice asked.

"Yes" Derick replied and immediately afterwards used the "Eye of Hunter" skill.

Several figures appeared, 20 to be exact. Most were white in color, 6 were blue and 2 red figures.

"So, here's what we're going to do. We'll follow the Rank E monster that appears to be the weakest." Alice spoke.

During the conversation between them, Derick told of the ordeal he had experienced on his first day out of the city. Since Derick already had experience facing a Rank E, Alice decided that he would be the first monster they would face.

And there was also another reason, when a monster is killed a fragment of its soul is absorbed by the person who killed it, but if there is more than one person present, the points are divided between them, for example:

If a Rank "E" monster that is worth 10 fragments is killed and have two people nearby, it goes 5 each.

There are some restrictions, one of them is that if the monster is 2 rank above, or below, the person, the fragment does not go to that person;

For this reason, they chose to kill Rank E monsters, even though Alice could face a Rank D.

***

Before starting to follow the blue figure, Derick stopped and some thoughts went through her mind.

With all the skills she had, the high-level equipment and the influence she has as guild master, how was she still Rank E?

Desde do momento que ela passou pela "Stone of Wisdom", se passaram 4 anos, atualmente era para ela estar no mínimo no rank B.

Derick looked at Alice and asked.

"Alice, why are you still a Rank E?"

Alice sighed and replied.

"I never had any desire to go outside the city, I was just curious as to why some people insisted on coming here, even knowing how risky it was. But with my brother's death, what little curiosity I had was extinguished."

"But then, why now?"

"Two years after my brother's death, a young boy, who coincidentally looked like him, appeared. I saw in his eyes the same look my brother gave when he decided he would go away. The look of desire and stubbornness, the look of a person who wouldn't mind losing his life as long as it was for the sake of his goal.

Alice looked into Derick's eyes.

"It was because of you that my curiosity returned, and since I had nothing left to lose, I decided to come out."

There was another reason she hadn't gone outside before. But she didn't say anything to keep Derick from worrying.
