Chapter 9

This is creepy. I know something is wrong. The storms blew both the main power and generator. Which shouldn't be possible. It's only a blizzard. And I know I heard a woman scram a few minutes ago. I don't think anyone else heard it but I know I did.

"We can't stay in here all night we will freeze" Kristen says

"Yea, but we should get everyone together before we leave" I add

CB holds up his phone " Tower must be out I'm not getting any signal"

"Were stuck anyway" Brittany yells

We all go to the front door. Immediately I see a thick layer of ice between the doors. CB tries to pull them but hey don't move and inch. Somebody bursts through the doors leading to the stairs. It's Carl. He ignores us and goes for the doors. When they don't budge he starts hitting the glass.

"Carl, Carl hey!" I finally have to grab him

He lets go of everything, and we fall to the floor. I've never seen him or anyone like this.

"No, no, no we need to get out of here" he mumbles

"What's going on man" I say

Carl pauses then looks up at the others and tells us what Jennifer saw happen to Don "we were running when I heard her scream I just ran as fast as I could"

Brittany kneels down and slaps him "and you left her up there alone" she turns to the door and grabs her arm.

"No, we can't split up."

Brittany sucks her teeth " I don't believe him the fools probably high Jennifer probably tripped and can't get up I'm going to get her"

I'm with CB " no we should wait. If we find her we should wait in the game room. If they don't come in 30 minutes we'll go find them"

"Forget that shit" Brittany storms to the stairs.

Everyone watches him go. I have this feeling I won't see Brittany again. I help Carl to his feet, and we all walk into the game room. Last inside I shut the door. I slide a chair under the doorknob and double check the padlock.

"Do you believe him" Kristen whispers

I put my arm around her shoulder " I don't want to but " I sigh " I just feel like something's wrong"

She squeezes me " I don't want to die"

"Does anybody?"
