CHAPTER 20

Nick’s POV

I was arranging my things when my friend, Anna, approached me with a smirk plastered on her annoying face.

“Why were you late? Or should I say, why are you two late?” she said in an annoying teasing tone.

“What do you mean by ‘we’re late’? I was earlier than him.” I kept my gaze from my desk as I lied to her.

“And why do you have the red thing on you neck?” She intrigued me with her questions. I looked on my mirror near my desk and there is this really red spot on my neck.

‘This is Jay’s fault.’ I covered my red face with my hands because of embarrassment and frustration.

“Who were you with last night? Or should I say who were you with this morning?” she poked me on my arms.

“Are you do with your questions? Go back to work.” I shooed her away.

“Hmm… you’ve got a period today.” She said silently while making her way to her own desk.

“What were you saying?!”

Minutes later the investor got out of the office which was kind of surprising because every time an investor comes here and let us convince them to work with us it usually takes about an hour or two. I stood up to greet the investor. The information I told Jay about the investor was really true. He was such a fine man. Not too muscular but enough to know that he’s working out, tall, has really good complexion, brown hair, and blue eyes

“How was the meeting sir?” I asked. I know that it was not supposed to be asked to a future investor but his company is one of the top on Asia alone so we’re really excited to work with them in the future.

“It’s good. Just need to sign the papers.” He smiles.

“Thank you sir,” I replied with a satisfaction on my face, “do you want me sir to accompany you to go out?”

“No, thanks but I need your number.”

“For what sir?”

“I’ll forward it to my secretary for you to work together.” I immediately got a sticky note on my drawer and wrote my number there.

Then it becomes awkward as he was staring at me intently without even blinking.

‘Gosh, do I have a booger on my face? Do I have something on my face?’

He said something that I didn’t get to hear.

“What was that sir?”

“Nothing. Send the files to my secretary that are needed to be signed.”

“Okay sir. Thank you sir!” I said as he me his way to the elevator.

After the investor was gone from my sight, I came into Jay’s office.

“How was the meeting? Are we working with them from now on?” I asked upon entering.

“Yeah. We’re working with them.” The moment was supposed to be happy cause we’re working them but his face was serious all along.

“Great! But why is your face like that? Shouldn’t you be happy that we’re working with them from now on?”

“I’m happy but I don’t like him.”

“Weird. By the way should I send now the contracts and other papers to be signed by them?”

“No. Bring them to me and I’ll read it if there’s something to be revised.”

“Right away sir.” I turned around to go to my desk.

“if someone texts you later don’t respond okay?”

“Why? It’s my private life so I’ll reply whether I like it or not.”

Then we got back to our works.

Jay’s POV

I entered my office and saw a very familiar face.

“Cousin!”

It was Cristopher. A cousin from my mother’s side. So that’s why Nick said we’re about the same age. We have been close since we were kids since they we’re just living block away from our house but after high school they moved to US and since then we lost contacts to each other.

“Hey,” then we had a bro hug, “when did you move here?”

“Just a month ago. I took over our company.”

“Good. How’s life?” I asked.

“Pretty darn boring. Single as always. But lots of women.” He said smirking.

“You never changed since high school. You make them crazy about you then dump them after.” I hook me head.

“How about you? Auntie said there’s someone here that makes you crazy lately.”

“And your stupid ass believes it?”

“Of course! So who’s the lucky girl? And by the way, a male secretary?”

“He is more efficient than those girls.” I said staring at Nick through the glasses.

Then our so-called meeting was turned into catching up with one another and of course it was full of laughter.

Nick’s POV

The day has gone by and I didn’t notice t was already sunset and the work will be done.

Then my phone beeped.

“Hey, this is Cristopher, the investor.” It says on the text.

“Oh, hi! What can I do for you sir?” I replied.

“Are you busy?”

“No, sir. I’m just finishing up work sir and go straight home.”

“Then can we meet up today?”

“Sorry, sir but I can’t cause I have a brother to take care of.”

“I promise this is just quick and I’ll have someone take care of your brother while we’re away.”

“Who’s that?” I jumped due to the shock I felt.

“Nothing sir. It was just someone.” I quickly hid my phone on my back.

“Okay. Let’s go we’ll pick up Stephen.”

After we picked up Stephen from school, we went straight home.

“Don’t go out and leave Stephen alone. Understood?”

“Why? What if I need to buy something from the store?”

“Then call me.”

“Why would I call you?”

“Just call me if you need something. Don’t ask questions anymore.”

“Whatever you say.”

Then he left after that. Mr. Cristopher wants to meet up so I will meet up with him cause they are working with us now. And it’ll be rude to refuse what the investor wants.
