One week of contemplating whether she should do it or not, another week of trying to approach the kid and another of befriending him, a total of three weeks had passed. All she could learn was that his name was Abel and he was eight years old and he was raised by a single mother as his father had left him a long time ago.

Abel was a sweet kid. He was totally scared of her at first, but eventually warmed up to her. The conversations between them were limited, but both of them were happy whenever they were together.

‘How was your day?’ Abel ran to her as Tamina had returned back to the camp from looting another village. Tamina took out a crumbled paper wrapping from her pocket and gave it to Abel.

‘Sweets!’ Abel jumped up and down and Tamina smiled at him.

‘You like them?’ Tamina asked.

‘Yes, my Ummi always promised to buy me this, but she didn’t have enough money. Thank you. Can I give this to Ummi?’ ‘Abel asked and Tamina nodded her.
