A story of Prohibited love, of terrorism and war, and the raw lives of a war-stricken land and its people. Tamina, a 19-year-old girl, survives a turbulent time, and meets a soldier named Jacob, from a land which she had never heard of. Despite being different from each other in all aspects, they find love amidst the war between her country and the budding terrorist organisation, the 'Sharias'. The story depicts her journey into adulthood, her land's unstable future in the hands of foreigners, of the terrorist organisation 'the Sharias' and her love that has been nipped by the cruelty of war and invasion by the foreigners as well as the 'Sharias'. A fiction written without a veil or extension, 'Under the merciless sun' is the raw depiction of those people and lands threatened by war, of foreign invasion and terrorism.

Tamina rushed to Guzman’s cabin. She heard commotions from the inside even before she entered into the room. Guzman was throwing a fit and his face was as red as an apple. 


‘Commander, you are here! Thank God!’ One of her men whispered under his breath and she nodded at him to leave the cabin before she entered. 


‘How dare they challenge me! Me, the great leader of the Sharia. How dare they!’ Guzman screamed at the empty air. Tamina noticed a piece of newspaper on his table and picked it up, doubtfully. 


‘The military to take back their lands from the Sharias?’ Tamina read the title and looked at her leader who was fuming. 


‘They have stationed near our territory. They are trying to take control of our lands. No one has ever tried to do that till now, but why now? How dare those Bastards! What makes them this confident to attack us? What is their secret weapon?’ Guzman sounded more like talking to himself rather than being angry.
