Tolani had been married to her husband Tunji for twenty-one years in a society that preached and encouraged male superiority and partiality. She took all the hurts and betrayals from him until the day she learnt he had been keeping a shocking secret from her for twenty years. Mrs Adeleke smiled and held Tolani’s hands. 


“Tolani dear, I perfectly understand how angry you are. I started seeing you as a daughter the very day Tunji introduced you to us. Being able to forgive is a virtue and it doesn’t make you weak child. My son loves you very much, please forgive him.” 


 “Ma, if he loves me, why does he keep hurting me by having relationships with other girls? Also, I caught him in bed with that girl Clara” 


 “I know and I’m sorry on his behalf. I spoke to him at length and he promised to change and make amends. He gave me his word that it will never happen again.
