CHAPTER 17
LAKSHMI
Lakshmi got out of the taxi with the house keys in her hand. She had returned from her parents' home earlier than expected and at that point she just wanted to take a shower and put on comfortable clothes. Upon entering the house corridor she had a strange hunch but dismissed it shaking her head. She walked up to the entrance of the apartment, the last of the corridor and situated just before a small indoor garden. As her hands were full with several packages the keys slipped from them falling on the thick mat placed directly in front of the door. Lakshmi bent down to pick them up and then saw it. A crumpled paper bundle was an anomaly in a house usually so neat and tidy. Intrigued the woman unraveled the paper and her stomach clenched when she read its contents.
