A few days had passed, during which Hinam daily took Liyal to the shop with him from home.
Their routine was to wake up, do the chores, have an early breakfast, have their baths, dress-up, then go to the shop and open for business.
Hinam always dressed Liyal in good-looking, but not so expensive clothes, and made sure that his head and face were covered with a shawl, so that only his eyes were visible.
This was to prevent busybodies from asking Hinam repeated questions about who his little companion was, and to protect Liyal from the people he was running away from.
Liyal stayed in the shop and arranged wares for Hinam, so that it would be easier for him to take them outside for quick sales.
Hinam was very grateful for the help, but he never allowed the little boy near the stoves or scorching oven.
Once or twice Liyal helped him mix batter for cakes and sweets, and he was very happy, for the boy was a quick learner.
Today they had big sales, and were treading home.
