Family Matters

Twelve days before Thanksgiving, a private plane lands in Los Angeles. Two elderly couples walk out of the jet and are greeted by a man. "Commodore Osmond Thoresen, Mrs. Isabella Thoresen, welcome back to America."

"Thank you, Jason," Osmond says. "It is nice to be back in America."

"Oh, and don't worry about Sigmund's house. The local authorities are taking care of it."

Both Osmond and Isabella look confused. "What are you talking about?" Isabella asks.

Jason looks confused, "The break-in that happened at Sigmund's house. There was a fight, and a tree was on fire. Your son and daughter's teams are handling the case."

"We never heard about a break-in and a fire," Osmond says. "Please take us straight to Gudmund's house."

Jason nods. "Of course, sir," Jason says and leads them to the black 2010 Bentley Mulsanne.

At Gudmund's house, he and Irene are talking in his office. "We need to tell them soon," Irene says. "I can't go for a week and a half without telling them."

"Aren't you leaving the day after Thanksgiving?" Gudmund asks, crossing his arms and raising an eyebrow.

Irene sighs, "Yes, but still, I can't tell them about their oldest son," she says. "We were fortunate that I didn't bring it up back in Norway. I was with mom a lot, and she talked about Sigmund twice."

"Look, we will tell them, but after what we found, we might need to hold off a bit longer," Gudmund says, and Irene agrees with him.

Later, Gudmund and Irene's parents arrive at the houses, and everyone greets them. "How are my little grandbabies," Isabella greets her grandkids.

"Great," answers Astrid, "how about you, grandma and grandpa?"

"We are doing wonderful," Osmond answers and hugs Aurora and Irene. He shakes Gudmund and Viktor's hands as he greets them. He also hugs the kids.

Isabella gives Aurora a big hug and smile, "Oh, Aurora, I missed you. I hope you were able to make that nice Norwegian cake I showed you."

"I've made it twice since we got back. I made the second one yesterday."

Osmond then looks at both Gudmund and Irene, and he looks serious. The two notice the change on their dad's face. "Now I want my two kids to tell me what happened to Sigmund's house and why was it broken into?"

Gudmund and Irene look at each other and back to their dad.

Later, the kids are outside playing while the adults are in the living room. Isabella sits on the couch with Aurora and Viktor, crying. The two are comforting her while Osmond yells at Gudmund and Irene after they told him the truth.

Osmond is yelling in Norwegian while Gudmund and Irene stand in the middle of the room. He stops yelling and looks at the two, "Now tell me, why didn't you tell me and your mother back in Norway? Why didn't you say anything when your grandparents died? I still own Sigmund's house. There was a break-in, and I didn't get told. Why didn't you tell us that you be getting contact from someone who had evidence of Sigmund's murder?"

"Dad, we were going to tell you, but we couldn't think of how," Irene says.

"What about at Sigmund's house?" Osmond asks. "Did you figure out who broke in?"

"No, but we found a couple of bullets, 9x19mm parabellum from a Heckler & Koch P30," Gudmund answers. "It was issued from Norway by a member of Interpol. There was some blood at the house, and we ran some tests. One of them came from the person using the gun from Norway. The other came from a person who is part of a crime organization ran by Nevel Gustafsson."

"Who is Nevel Gustafsson?" Osmond asks.

"He is a crime lord, and we believe he is behind Sigmund and Trine's death," Irene answers.

Osmond looks confused, "I thought it was Klaus Krueger? That's who Sigmund and Trine were building a case against."

Gudmund and Irene look at each other then back to their dad. "All of the evidence that we've been finding that Sigmund hid," Gudmund starts. "Most of them talk about Nevel, saying that Klaus is the face while Nevel is the brain. We managed to gather some evidence that involves a few people who have died, like the late brother-in-law of my partner, Ashton Watson."

"So, you think that Nevel might have ordered a hit on both Sigmund and Trine?" Osmond asks.

"Yes," Irene answers.

"Are you two the only ones doing this investigation?"

"No. Our teams are working on it with us, along with two members of the Los Angeles FBI, Knut and Hakon," Gudmund answers.

Osmond sighs and looks at his two kids, "Whenever your mother and I come to Los Angeles, we always stop at Sigmund and Trine's graves, but we didn't this time because of what we heard, so your mother and I are going to go and visit their grave. Then we are going to go to Haruki and Aina's house since we are staying at their place."

Osmond takes his wife's hand. She rises and notices a look on her kid's face. "What is it?" she asks, and her husband looks at Gudmund and Irene. "I know that look. What is it?" Gudmund and Irene look at each other and back to their parents.

Outside, the kids are listening to the adults. "Wow, I've never heard grandpa yell at mom and Uncle Gudmund before," Oddmund says.

"Yeah," Astrid says, and they hear another yell from their grandfather. "Whoa. That was in Norwegian. Did he say a swear word?"

Ryan walks up to his sister and cousin, "Why is grandpa yelling at daddy and Auntie Irene?"

Astrid and Oddmund look at each other and back to Ryan. "Well, dad and Auntie Irene have been doing some investigating that involved Uncle Sigmund and Aunt Trine."

At a pINPOINt Headquarters, Derek and Elena are at their desk finishing some paperwork. Derek's cell rings, and he answers it, "Detective Fischer," he answers. His eyes widen in shock as he listens on the phone. "What hospital? Ok, I'll be there right away." He hangs up.

"What is it?" Elena asks.

"My dad was shot walking out of his police department," he answers and rushes out of there.

Later at the Monterey Park Hospital, all members of the Fischer family are in a waiting room. Derek rushes into the room and sees his family. Hazel and Juliana walk up to him, and the three hug each other. "Dad, grandpa's been shot," Juliana says, and Derek looks at her.

"I heard, sweetie," he says and looks at his uncle. "Uncle Reece, what happened?"

"Your father was just leaving the Sheriff's Headquarters when a car drove by and started shooting. Many officers went after the car, but they lost it. Right now, the undersheriff is working hard to find out who did this."

Derek looks down the hall and asks, "Is he still in the ER?"

"They just moved him into the OR," Hazel says.

Derek's cell rings, and he answers it, "Detective Fischer."

"It's Ashton. Elena just told me what happened. Is your father ok?" Ashton asks on the other line.

"He is still in the OR, and we don't know when he is coming out. Ashton, we need to find the one that did this."

"Do not worry; I already got the team started on trying to track down the shooter. You just stay with your family. Call if anything happens."

"Will do," Derek says, hangs up, and looks down the hall.

At the Thoresen house, Gudmund is sitting in his office at his desk. He looks at a photo of his brother on his desk. Irene walks next to him, "We'll figure out what all of this means. About our brother and why the graves are gone."

Gudmund looks at her. "I know, but what if he really is alive and Trine is as well?"

"Why would they be alive and not let us know?" Irene has a confused look.

"Well, when we were in Norway, Klaus was there too, and he was there before we got there, And we have learned that Klaus, Xing-Fu, and Nevel have a list of both of our teams and the team's family members, which means they have been trying to track down members. But," Gudmund starts to think. "We haven't seen Klaus in the states in a while, and now he is somewhere else in the world."

Irene thinks of something, "Have you talked to Hakon about this yet?"

Gudmund looks at her. "Well, he knows that Klaus is or was in Norway. Interpol already put out an alert for him in Norway, back when Grandma and Grandpa died, but I think he might have gotten out of Norway after our grandparents died."

"Did you guys get some hard evidence that Klaus, Nevel, and Xing-Fu are partners?"

"Yep, we managed to find some connections, but our main focus is on Nevel because Sigmund had been running many investigations on Nevel," Gudmund says as he pulls out a file and places it on his desk.

"Starting to build a case against Nevel now," Irene says, and Gudmund nods. "Our brother always had great eyes and knew what to do. Back at that military camp we were at in Norway when we were teenagers; the campers called him Heimdall."

"Yep and they also gave us names too," he says and realizes something. "Wait a minute," he reaches into a cabinet of his desk and pulls out a recorder. "Whenever I get a mysterious call from the person that been telling me where to find this evidence, my phone records the caller and sends it to my laptop. I got Maisie to set it up; I had to set it up to anyone who calls me. If the mystery guy calls me, it will be recorded. I wonder if a voice modifier is hiding the voice."

Irene nods. Her cell rings, and so does Gudmund's. The two answer their cells, and it's from both of their teams. "Ok, I am with Gudmund right now. I'll work with his team." She hangs up, and so does Gudmund, "Looks like we got a case together."

"Yep, I'll drive," he says, and the two leave.

Later at pINPOINt Headquarters, Maisie is telling the team about what she found. "Ok, so once I heard that LASD Sheriff Fischer got shot, I checked to see if anyone he had arrested before might want to kill him. But everyone I checked was still in prison, dead, or out of the state. Once Chelsea was able to get one of the bullets that hit Sheriff Fischer, she got a connection, a connection to some of the victims of unsolved crimes," she pulls up some photos on the monitor. "These are the people that the same bullets have killed from the same gun that is connected to this guy." A photo of a man appears, and the photo looks old. "This is Antonio 'Scarface' Gagliano. He was one of the biggest mob bosses on the west coast. He was arrested by Officer Kendrick Fischer, Officer Reece Fischer, and five other officers. The prosecuting attorney was Arvid Olafsen."

"Arvid Olafsen!" Gudmund says. "He's Aurora's birth father; he died when she was two, and I remember reading the case file on Antonio Gagliano. Once Arvid was able to win the case and got Antonio sentenced to life in prison. Everyone nods saw Antonio to some of his goons. He died that day in the courtroom as many shooters appeared in the room. Antonio was able to get a gun and shot and killed Arvid. Arvid died as soon as he hit the floor. Both Kendrick and Reece managed to get Antonio down to the ground and arrested him. The judge changed Antonio's sentence to death because of his actions, while the rest of his crew had been sentenced forty to life."

"Who was the judge?" Nozomi asks.

Gudmund types on the keyboard and a photo appears on the monitor. "Judge Phillip Avery. He passed away awhile back and was a great judge. He was really young when he became a judge. Antonio's case was his sixth, and it was the biggest one yet. After Antonio died a year later, Judge Avery got many death threats. The police investigated the threats and learned they came from Antonio's son, Ernesto Gagliano. Ernesto managed to get away and wasn't seen again. There have been reports that he's been hiding somewhere in America, but most people believe he left the country. He was seventeen at the time, and no one's been able to get him. The mob that Antonio was the leader of has been disbanded. The ones that weren't captured managed to disappear. One of the big-time members of the mob and also the right-hand man of Antonio, Gavino Belmonte," another photo appears on the monitor. "Was one of the best shooters and killers. After Ernesto managed to getaway, Gavino was never found, and no one knows if he left the country or if he is alive. He would be seventy-eight years old if he is alive."

On the monitor, a call icon appears, and Maisie clicks on it. Members of Irene's team up in Northern California pop up. "Glad we caught you all at the same time," says Gabriel.

Irene steps up to the monitor. "What's up, Gabriel?"

"We have managed to pinpoint some connections between the murders throughout the state with the same bullets," he answers. On Maisie's monitor appears a photo of a courtroom. "We learned that some of the victims were in fact at the same court hearing of Antonio Gagliano."

More photos appear on the monitor. "I see, so the ones that have been getting killed were at the same court hearing," Ashton says.

"They were the jury at Antonio's hearing," says Aaron Griffin, Irene's partner. "I thought about if anyone that was part of Antonio's mob might be alive still. And we found that one of them is," a photo appears on the monitor, and it's Gavino, but at age seventy-eight.

Gudmund looks closer at the monitor, "It says that Gavino's name is now Pietro Coppola, and he lives in Monterey, California." He turns to Maisie. "Maisie, track down to see what he's been doing for the past thirty years. Ashton, you and Aaron will go and meet Pietro."

"Aaron, since you are closer, you head there now," Irene says. "Gather as much information you can from the town until Ashton gets there."

"Got it," Aaron says, "See you later, Ashton," he says.

"See you later," Ashton says. "I'll head out now; I'll call as soon as I reach Monterey." Ashton leaves the room.

Gudmund nods, and he has Butch appear on the screen from his office. "Butch, I want you to work with Doctor Henry Wright from the Northern California pINPOINt. You both will go through the photos of every victim in this case." Butch nods and signs off. "Ashton and Aaron won't be able to talk to Ernesto until tomorrow as it will be late by the time they get there. Maisie contacts Monterey Police Department to let them know two of our own are heading there. I want their police force to work with Aston and Aaron."

"Got it, boss," Maisie calls Monterey Police Department.

"Gudmund, what should the rest of both teams do?" Irene asks, and Gudmund looks at her.

"Right now, you and I are going to go and visit Derek and his family at the hospital. I want to see if his dad got out of surgery yet." He looks at Elena and Nozomi. "You two will go to the crime scene and figure out what happened there." The two nod and they move out.

At the hospital, Derek is standing outside of a room looking into a window. His dad has just gotten out of surgery and is now resting. Someone walks up to the window and stands beside Derek. Derek looks, and it's his grandpa, "To let you know, Derek, no parents want to see their child in a hospital bed fighting for their lives." Ernest says. He looks at his grandson, "I never really wanted Kenrick and Reece to become cops. I always thought I would end up pushing them to a different path, but I ended up pushing them into becoming cops."

Derek looks back at his dad, "Dad and Uncle Reece would have become cops no matter what. All of your grandkids are cops as well. You and your late sister became cops because your father was a cop. It's in our blood, and I know that your great-grandkids will also become cops too." Derek's cell beeps, and he looks at it. It's a message, and he puts his cell away after reading it.

"What was that?" Ernest asks.

"I wasn't planning on telling anyone this yet, but I took the exam to become an FBI Agent, and that was a text message from a friend saying the test result is in."

Ernest looks surprised and has a smile on his face, "That is great, an FBI Agent. But why are you keeping it a secret? Does Major Gudmund Thoresen know?"

"Yes, he and Hazel know that I have taken the exam. If I pass, then I'll be going into training for a while. I won't see my family very much, but I'll be able to enter the Criminal, Cyber, and Response Department in pINPOINt, where I'll have an office and take on higher crimes with Gudmund and Ashton. And I'll have connections to some FBI departments as well, like checking out their criminal wanted list, and," he looks down the hall. "I'll have a higher pay since I am going to have a second child after the doctors told us that it would be impossible to have a second child," he says.

"You and Hazel are lucky. You weren't even going to have a kid until Juliana came along."

"Once she was born, we fell in love with her, and the doctor told us she would be an only child. Because something happened, we wouldn't be able to have a second child no matter what."

"I'm going to go and get some water. You want anything?" Ernest asks, and Derek shakes his head. Ernest starts to leave and sees Gudmund and Irene, "Major Thoresen, nice to see you again," he says.

"Same here, Mr. Fischer, and I am sorry about your oldest son," Gudmund says.

"Thank you; I know he'll be ok. He is strong like his grandfather and me."

Gudmund nods, and he continues to Derek along with Irene. "Hey, boss," Derek says, not taking his eyes off of his dad.

"How is he?" Irene asks, and Derek looks at her.

"The doctor says he has to rest now and keeps a close watch on him." He looks to Gudmund. "We need to find that one that did this so that we can bring the person in for justice."

Gudmund nods, "We will catch the person, don't worry." Gudmund and Irene look through the window at Kendrick.

The next morning, Ashton and Aaron arrive at a house. "So, this is where Gavino is living, in a retirement home," Ashton says.

Aaron opens a file, "It says that Gavino, aka Pietro Coppola, has been living here for two years. He moved here after his wife passed away. He has two kids, a son, and a daughter."

"Let's go have a chat with him," Ashton says, and the two get out of the car.

Soon, they arrive at Gavino's apartment and ring his doorbell. He opens the door and looks at the two of them. "May I help you?"

The two show their badges. "We are with pINPOINt," Aaron introduces them.

Gavino sighs, lets the two in and closes the door behind them. "I believe you are here to talk about Ernesto Gagliano, right?"

"That's right, sir," Ashton starts. "You see, we want to know if you've been in touch with him."

Gavino sits in his chair and shakes his head slowly. "After he left, I haven't seen him in many years, but he did try to get in touch with me just about a year ago. I don't remember what he wanted."

"Did he leave a message or anything since then?" Aaron asks.

"Yes, he sends me a few letters with pictures and others. I locked them in the back of my closet on the top shelf." He points to the closet, and Aaron goes to take a look. "It is a small, light green lockbox," he says, and Aaron finds it. He takes it to Gavino, and he unlocks the box by using a key he had in his pocket. He hands it to Aaron, and Aaron and Ashton look inside. "He leaves letters and photos in my mailbox."

"We should send copies to Gabriel and Maisie," Ashton says, and Aaron nods. "Did you read any of these?"

"I read the first two, but the rest I never read. I did get this one here just last week." Gavino picks out an unopened envelope and hands it to Aaron.

Aaron opens it and starts to read it. "It lists of names; some of them are crossed off," he says and hands it to Ashton.

"It has Derek's dad and uncle's names on here," he says.

"Let's send them to Gabe and Maisie so they can look them up," Aaron says, and Ashton nods.

Ashton looks back to Gavino. "Is there anything else you have that might help us find him?"

Gavino shakes his head, "Sorry, but if I hear anything, I'll call you." Ashton and Aaron hand Gavino their cards.

The two leave the building and head for the car. Aaron calls Irene, "Hey Irene, we got a list of names that Gavino got in the mail from Ernesto last week. He has been getting many letters from Ernesto. We'll stop at a police department in town to send copies to Maisie and Gabe, so they can check them out." Aaron listens for a while, then says, "Got it, call you later." He hangs up, and the two get into the car.

Back at the Southern pINPOINt, Irene hangs up with Aaron. She looks at her brother. "Aaron and Ashton just spoke to Gavino. They'll send some copies of letters that they got from Gavino."

"Good. Hope we can find something that'll tell us who might be next," Gudmund says as the two check on some paperwork.

Meanwhile, at Los Angeles City Hall, Osmond is by one of the windows looking out at the city. Haruki walks up to him and looks out of the window as well. "Sorry that I didn't know anything about your kids' secret work," he says.

Osmond looks at his old friend. "It's ok, Haruki. Gudmund and Irene always kept secrets with Sigmund since they were kids. I wish that Gudmund and Irene told me back in Norway."

Haruki pats his friend on the back, "The kids are grown up now and doing things on their own. I don't get into my kids' work at all unless they ask me. Nozomi is working hard on trying to rise in her rank. Aurora works hard with the DA. Ichirou has been winning lots of cases and putting many crooks away. With you, Gudmund and Irene are heads of their own pINPOINt and used to be in the military. The two rose to the rank of Major and now are officers."

Osmond smiles. "I am happy that they have worked so hard to be what they are now." Osmond takes a deep breath and lets it out. "I guess I'll tell Gudmund and Irene that I'll let them off the hook. Just this once, but they have to keep me in the loop in the future."

Haruki smiles, and they turn to see the mayor walking up to them, "Commodore Thoresen, Counsel Kanemoto, it's so nice to see you," says Mayor Harper.

"Likewise," Osmond says as he shakes his hand. "Thank you for the invite."

"Well, it is always wonderful to see you here," Mayor Harper says. "Your son, Major Thoresen, has been working hard protecting the city while your daughters help out too," he turns to Haruki as he finishes.

Haruki smiles. "Thanks, it is great to have my two daughters working hard to protect the city. I hear that you are going to run to be re-elected again."

"Yep, I want to make this my second term and maybe go again for a third."

"You do know that you only can do two in a row, and then you can run again after the next mayor," Osmond says.

"Yes, I know, but I will try and see if I can, but if I can't, then I'll run again after the next mayor." Mayor Harper sees some of the councilmen nearby. "Oh, there's Councilman Ross; I need to talk to him. I'll see you both later."

"He seems much happier than the last time I saw him," Haruki says, and Osmond agrees. The two then see their wives walking up to them. "Hi, my love," he says to his wife, Aina.

"Hi. Isabella and I were talking and thought maybe we should have the Thanksgiving dinner at our place."

Both Haruki and Osmond look at each other then back to their wives, "But I thought we were going to Gudmund's house?" Osmond asks.

"We figured maybe we could have it at Haruki's place since the dining room is much bigger," Isabella says.

"I guess so, but who's cooking dinner?" Haruki asks.

"Gudmund can still do his turkey, and everyone else can make their own dish. We'll make some food at the house too," Aina answers. "Also, since you two are always tired after eating big dinners, we can already be home while the kids can just drive home." Haruki and Osmond like that idea and agree with it.

Later, Maisie has gotten all of the information from Aaron and Ashton. Maisie looks through the list and manages to find some kind of connection. She gathers the rest of the team and adds the northern team on the monitor and Aaron and Ashton. "Ok, so I managed to figure out the people on the list. They are the ones who have been killed with the same M.O."

"So far, only one of them isn't dead right now," Irene points out.

"Derek's father is still alive, but his uncle might be in danger. Look up the ones that are still in the area," Gudmund says as Maisie starts to look.

"Only four people are besides Chief Reece Fischer and Sheriff Kenrick Fischer. Those four are Oscar Perry, Caitlin Baker, Jay Carter, and—"

"Haruki Kanemoto," says Elena. Everyone's eyes widen then they look at Gudmund and Nozomi.

"My dad," Nozomi says, surprised to see her dad's name on the list.

"Maisie, I am sending you the list of people present at the time of Arvid Olafsen's death," Gabe says on the monitor, and a list appears. "It says that Haruki Kanemoto was also one of the prosecutors at the time."

"That's right. My dad used to be a prosecutor back then," Nozomi says.

Gudmund remembers something and looks at Nozomi and Irene. "Hey, aren't dad and Haruki supposed to be at an event at the town hall today?"

"Yeah, but you don't think that Ernesto Gagliano would go and shoot up at the town hall, do you?" Ashton asks on the monitor.

Gudmund starts to think, "So far, Ernesto's M.O. has been killing the victims in public places with many people around. I know that the city hall is well guarded, but there have been some attacks from time to time. A year ago, when the mayor was having a fundraiser for a deaf school, a man managed to get into the building and started to shoots up the place."

"Oh yeah, I remember that," Elena says. "You were there with your wife and daughter, right?"

"Yes, and I was able to protect them. Some of the guards and I were able to capture the man. He wanted to end all things that had to do with deaf people. Everyone believed he was nothing but evil. The judge sentenced him to fifty years."

Nozomi looks at the monitor. "We need to warn dad right now."

Gudmund nods in agreement, and he looks at the monitor to Aaron and Ashton. "I want you both to hop onto a jet and get here fast. A pINPOINt jet will be at a nearby airport to pick you both up." The two nod and sign off.

"What's your plan?" Maisie looks at her boss.

"You and Gabe will work together on locating Ernesto and see where he is heading. I'll lead a team to city hall, while Derek will lead a team to watch over the hospital," he says. "Ernesto might head there to finish the job on killing the sheriff and then go after Chief Reece Fischer. He's on a mission, a mission to kill. Contact the LAPD and LASD and tell them what is happening. Tell them not to kill him no matter what. Just try and get him down and arrest him." They all nod and get to work.

Half an hour later, Aaron and Ashton head for the jet. Ashton stops, and Aaron looks back at him, "What's up?"

"I think I know where Ernesto would really be," he says, and Aaron looks at him, confused. "We need to talk to Gavino again," he says, and the two head off to talk to Gavino.

Forty minutes later, the two arrive at Gavino's condo. With them are members of the Monterey Police Department. Once they get to the door, they hear a gunshot. The two pull out their guns and kick the door in. They see Ernesto with his gun out, pointing at Gavino, who also has his gun out. Ernesto falls to the ground as Gavino shot him in the knee. Then, Gavino falls to the floor on his back as he was also shot. They all move to the two bodies; some officers handcuff Ernesto, and the others tend to Gavino.

Ashton moves to Gavino's side, and Gavino looks at him. "I knew that the punk would come and try to kill me, so I was ready to shoot him dead as well. But I missed and got his knee, but he got me close to my heart."

"Don't speak. Help will be on the way," Ashton says, but Gavino closes his eyes. Gavino soon stops breathing.

Over by Ernesto, Aaron gets him to his feet after wrapping the wounded right knee. "Get him down to the car. We'll be there in a minute," he says, and the officers take Ernesto away. Aaron looks at Ashton. "Guess we better call Gudmund and Irene to let them know." Ashton nods and looks back at Gavino's body.

The next day at Astrid's school, gym students in her grade have their own table in the gym with pictures and family trees laid out. At Astrid's table, many people are looking at her. "You see, here is my Thoresen Family Tree," she starts. "My family goes back many generations. But for five generations, each member has been in the military. My great-great-great-grandfather Hakon Thoresen was the first in the family to be a soldier, while his parents and siblings were just farmers back in Norway. He met his wife Martha while he was stationed in the capital, Oslo. Then, they had their oldest son Sigurd Thoresen, who also became a soldier as well. Great-great-grandpa Sigurd then met Helga, his wife, at age twenty-five. Two years later, they had my great-grandpa Oddvar Thoresen. Later, he and his wife Ester had two kids, my grandpa Osmond and my great-aunt Erna. Grandpa Osmond fought in wars, while Great Aunt Erna helped out in the wars and a nurse. Then, my dad, Gudmund, and his brother Sigmund and sister Irene joined the U.S. Military. The three were born in the United States, while my dad's cousin Hakon was born in Norway. He joined the Norwegian military there and currently works with Interpol, while my dad and Aunt Irene work with pINPOINt in California.

"Then there is my mom's side of the family, who mostly are lawyers, but my mom's half-sister, my Aunt Nozomi, is the only one who became a cop and worked with pINPOINt. My mom and dad have been married for fifteen years and had me and my little brother Ryan. In a few months, Ryan and I will be getting a baby sibling." Astrid finishes, and everyone claps for her project. She then tells them about her parents' jobs and what they do.

Juliana is halfway through hers. "On my dad's side, all the members of the Fischer family became cops, while most of the people from my mom's side were models or fashion designers," she says. "I was the only one of my cousins and second cousins to not have any brothers or sisters, but my parents are expecting a new child, who I cannot wait to meet so I can play with him or her," she finishes, and everyone claps for her project.

Osmond hugs Astrid. "That was very nice, my dear," he says as Astrid beams up at him. He sees Gudmund and Irene looking at another kid's family project. "I'll be right back, my dear." He walks up to Gudmund and Irene, and they look at him, "Let's go talk in the hall."

The three enter the hallway, and Osmond faces his son and daughter. "Dad, before you say anything or yell, remember we are at a school," Irene says.

"I know, and I've been thinking," he starts. "All night, I thought about what you two have been doing about Sigmund and everything that's been happening. I want to be kept in the loop. If you get any more evidence or clues about your brother, I want to know about it."

"Got it, dad, but to let you know, Knut and Hakon know about this as well, and they are doing their parts too," Gudmund says.

Osmond nods. "They'll have to keep me in the loop as well, got it. I want to know what my eldest son was doing before he supposedly died. And if he and Trine are alive, then let me know ASAP." The two nod. "Good. Let's get back in there. I want to see more of my granddaughter's and her friends' work."

Osmond goes back into the gym as Gudmund and Irene look at each other. "Well, I guess we are off the hook for now with dad," Irene says.

Gudmund doesn't answer right away. "Yeah, but are we sure he would want to know what we found out two weeks ago?"

Irene looks down for a moment then back to the gym. "No, don't tell him. Once he and mom find out, more questions will be asked that won't get answered."

"Now you are thinking like Sigmund, which we both should be doing."
