Chapter 27: Unusual

Charlotte wakes up in a daze, her ears ringing. Having suffered some injuries, she feels disoriented as she tries to stand up. She looks around, her vision hazy and wobbly.

"A–Adora?" she calls, her voice raw. She stumbles as her legs struggle to hold her up.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

What . . . what is this falling?

She looks up and a drop hits her eye. Jerking back, she closes her eye and reaches up with her hand to clear it. Only to look at herself with her other eye and find her body getting drenched in a red liquid. It takes her a few seconds to be stable enough to realize she's in a shower of blood.

Charlotte recalls Haco swallowing a missile.

"H–Haco . . ." she murmurs, looking at the blood and hearing loud thuds as pieces of Haco fall all around her.

Charlotte feels sick to her core and vomits, falling to her knees. Her body trembles as she lowers her head to the ground.

Paralyzed in a pool of vomit and blood, she hears the loud whirr of engines in front of her.

She lifts her head up to see what's in front of her.

Terror strikes Charlotte as she sees a giant figure looming in front of her, floating just above the ground in the shower of blood.

. . .

A giant mechanical T-Rex is floating in front of her. It roars, pointing its minigun at Charlotte.

Time seems to flow slowly for Charlotte.

She notices small balls landing near the gun and what seem to be joint areas around the T-Rex. A figure falling behind the T-Rex from up high steals her attention, it seems to be holding abnormally sized daggers.

BOOM!

The mini bombs explode, repulsing the T-Rex backward as it staggers.

Before the T-Rex gets a chance to recover, two grappling hooks land on it, attaching themselves to it and retracting at a very high speed, causing the figure to fly by swiftly and slice the T-Rex with a somewhat deep cut.

The grapple hooks detach and attach over and over again as the figure moves around the T-Rex at extraordinary speed, cutting it up all over in a flurry of relentless attacks.

The T-Rex roars in desperation, starting to glow with blue light. It glows brighter and brighter, emitting a shockwave that repels the grapple hooks and pushes the figure away into the air. The figure quickly recovers in mid-air, rotating like a Beyblade at very high speed as it falls towards Charlotte.

The T-Rex aims the minigun at Charlotte again and it starts to turn, the threat intending to end them both. The minigun starts firing as soon as the figure lands next to Charlotte, still rotating at a very high speed. Charlotte shuts her eyes in fear, and braces for the pain.

Clack! Clash! Clack! Clash!

Except the bullets never reach her. She looks back up and can't believe her eyes.

Daggers . . . endless daggers emerge at insane speed from the rotating figure, deflecting the bullets, and pushing back and overwhelming the mini gun's fire rate.

The daggers gradually reach closer and closer to hitting the minigun, each time a dagger hits a bullet and falls, it disappears before hitting the ground.

In a panic to not lose its minigun, the T-Rex prepares and starts shooting all the weapons on hand.

Charlotte can't help but find the insanity she is witnessing to be . . . beautiful? The daggers deflect every bullet coming their way from different angles with sparks like fireworks painted with sprinkles of crimson red. The figure's spinning splattering the blood around it, as if it's a scarlet blooming flower. Time passes slowly as her mind takes a mental image of what seems to be such beauty to her.

The T-Rex's tail gets ready to launch a missile from its end as the tail points upwards while pinning the figure down with cover fire, making it a constant bullet hell.

The missile launches upwards.

Instantly, one of the daggers clips it dead on as it's above the T-Rex. The dagger then suddenly explodes on contact, causing the missile to explode while it's right above the T-Rex, damaging it and launching it towards their direction, passing right over the both of them.

Charlotte covers her face, shielding it from the explosion as she falls on her back. But the figure relentlessly keeps throwing the daggers at the T-Rex as it passes over them. The daggers accurately hit its exposed joints non-stop, deteriorating them till they break, falling limb by limb. The T-Rex crashes into the trees before coming to a stop.

The figure starts to slow its spin before coming to a complete stop gracefully.

"Sheesh, never had to do this before," says Adora breathlessly, "I am completely out of juice,"

"You take care of the rest . . ." she trails off.

Charlotte sees the blood on her body get off . . . all the blood and body parts come back together and a huge blob of blood forms.

ROAR!

A roaring Haco emerges from it in perfectly fine condition.

"Even with the fatigue of regeneration, I know you can take this thing down. Go, obliterate it," says Adora, picking up Charlotte and swinging in the opposite direction to the trees.

The T-Rex attempts to fire bullets at Haco with whatever guns are intact, but to no avail, as the bullets bounce right off Haco. In desperation, it fires another missile that hits Haco dead on. But it barely affects her, and she stands proud.

It is such a weird display in Charlotte's eyes, it's almost as if she wants the T-Rex to fire at Haco, to show it that Haco can easily handle whatever it throws at her.

Did she swallow the missile to protect us?

Haco then pounces on the T-Rex at high speed and starts ripping it to shreds with its claws and fangs.

She then looks down at the T-Rex's remaining corpse, and a strong glow of light appears from her mouth, giving way to a powerful flame thrower that fires from her mouth, completely incinerating the T-Rex to nothing but ash.

Thud.

Charlotte whirls around, only to find Adora on the ground.
