I Don't Deserve You, & You Don't Deserve Me Either

"Mom?"

"Do you know Mr. Smith?"

Ella looked at her mother seriously, hoping to get an explanation from her mother.

Laras immediately choked on the drink and cleared her throat loudly.

"Mom, are you okay?" Ella asked worriedly.

"Ella, I think you have to rest. I'm just as tired as Alvin. Hahh ... I hope there are no celebrations or parties in the near future." Said Laras immediately got up from her seat.

Ella looked confused at her mother who immediately changed the subject.

"And Ella, you should sleep too, don't you. Remember your school tomorrow." Said Laras, "Yes mom, i know."

Laras also left Ella, now she is alone in the kitchen. The Huxley family all seemed to be asleep, and the great mansion grew increasingly lonely.

Ella washed her glass, her thoughts still mixed, sometimes thinking of Edward, sometimes thinking of her mother who was acting strangely.

Ella turned around and bumped into a body that was already standing firmly behind her. Without her knowing it. The glass she was holding immediately slid from her grasp.

Edward swiftly caught the glass, he looked at Ella who still didn't blink at him.

"Mr. Edward? What are you doing here?" Asked Ella.

Edward didn't move at all, the distance between them was very close. Edward put the glass he was holding, beside Ella and slightly over her shoulder.

Ella could see Edward's face more and more clearly.

"May I have the same chocolate drink as you," said Edward, and Ella just stared at Edward's strange request.

This was the second time that Edward and Ella were in the kitchen. And there were only the two of them in the room. She complied with Edward's request, for a glass of hot chocolate.

Ella handed Edward a glass of hot chocolate, this time Edward looked different.

"Mr. Edward, I have made you hot chocolate. I have permission to return to my room." Ella said, turning her back on her body, but Edward immediately took her hand.

Ella saw Edward's hand.

"Please, don't go, stay with me. And please don't keep avoiding me." Edward said.

Ella complied with Edward's request, pulled out her chair, and sat down in front of Edward, the long table that became the divider between the two of them.

"Why didn't you come back, to the dining room earlier?" Edward asked.

"Regarding that, I'm helping Alvin prepare a gift for the Smith family," Ella answered.

"Regarding the engagement, I don't even know. And I haven't agreed to it." Edward explained, and Ella gave a strange look.

"Sorry, it's none of my business, Mr. Edward." Ella lied.

"I know you're lying, you didn't even look into my eyes when you said it." Said, Edward.

"I know I'm not a good man for you, especially coupled with the attitude I've been to you, Ella. But what I'm doing, I just want to protect you." Edward gripped his glass tightly.

"What do you mean Mr. Edward, you always treat me arbitrarily. Give continuous punishments, even though you know I'm innocent." Ella had raised her voice, she already felt annoyed with the direction of Edward's conversation.

"And suddenly that night, you came. You kissed me, you seemed to give me hope. What I know, it all could not happen to me." Ella was getting teary.

"Ella, I'm sorry ..."

"You don't need to apologize, I should know better about my current position. I don't deserve you, and you don't deserve me either." A tear rolled down her cheek.

Edward got up from his seat, he gently wiped Ella's tears. Not only that, but he also kissed Ella's forehead slowly.

Ella, who was startled by a kiss on her forehead, looked at Edward's face who was already close to her, Edward was just about to lower his kiss to Ella's lips.

But Ella had quickly avoided, she had gotten up from her seat.

"Mr. Edward, I'm sorry. Please stop giving me hope. Sorry I have to go back to my room." Said Ella.

"And Mr. Edward, happy birthday to you. Sorry, this year I did not give you a present. Because I know, you have never liked my gifts." Ella said.

Laras had indeed laid down her sleep, but the man's face was still looming over her. After all this time, why did she have to meet again? Does he know? That continues to be her question.

No, he shouldn't know that Ella is her daughter. The room door sounded open, Laras quickly closed her eyes. She didn't want Ella to notice that she was still awake, and started asking questions she couldn't answer.

Ella came into her room, she saw her mother who was asleep.

After changing her clothes, she slept beside her mother.

Ella and Laras, the two women did not sleep well that night. Their minds still haunt their respective troubles.
