(Chapter 69) An Awkward Lunch

Astrid didn't realize the look of complete shock that was currently aimed at her. She had a peaceful and small smile as she decided to airplane some food onto Anya's plate.

*Cough* "Don't stare at my daughter, that's just rude." Mr. Tuhs spoke in a chiding tone, as he sat back down.

Astrid now paid some attention to the extra presence in the room. She turned to see Lewis's exquisite face, with an open mouth looking at her.

"Close your mouth. You'll eat a fly." Astrid joked as she paid him no attention. As she had a bundle of joy to attend to.

Lewis was given a wake-up slap this afternoon. He had a call from Mr. Tuhs in the morning telling him to cancel everything for the day, and that he will be picked up to his house...

But his worldview turned upside down at the sight in front of him. He hadn't seen such a genuine smile on Astrid's face before. And it was aimed at the little girl that looked very, very familiar to her...

"Come sit down, there's some food for you to." Mr. Tuhs enjoyed looking at Lewis's expressions. Maybe he would get some second thoughts on his daughter...

Mrs. Tuhs sighed inwardly. She didn't expect for her husband to use Anya to make Lewis's imagination run wild... Well, it would be a good test maybe.

Lewis took a seat beside Astrid like it was the natural thing to do. Ignoring the dark look from Mr. Tuhs, and being treated like air from Astrid.

Anya's eyes were attracted to Lewis's sudden arrival. "Wow! Pretty uncle!" Anya spoke without much refrain as she looked at Lewis's face.

Kids were attracted to beauty, Anya was no different. As Astrid smirked while giving Lewis a 'look'.

"Yeah, a pretty uncle... So why is the pretty uncle here today?" Astrid gave a beaming smile to Lewis. As her eyes sharpened.

Mr. Tuhs wanted to wooo out loud for his daughter. He hadn't seen her in action when it came to verbal battles. But he couldn't but feel glee when she called Lewis an 'uncle'.

Lewis gave a small smile to Anya and reached to pat her head. "This handsome uncle is here to have lunch." He corrected not only Anya, but also Astrid...

Astrid gave a hard glare at Lewis's hand on Anya's head. Seemingly ready to tear it off if any wrong move was taken.

Little Anya nodded and smiled. "Is handsome uncle here to eat with my sister?" Anya asked innocently.

Anya's world now revolved around her sister. So she was sure this handsome uncle was here for her sister too...

Lewis then slightly froze. As his eyes twitched, giving a short glare to Mr. Tuhs.

Mrs. Tuhs couldn't keep her laughter in much longer. She understood how her husband had such a tendency to bully this young man now... He was quite innocent.

Astrid spotted the glare and was confused, 'did father tell a lie to him? But why?' She might be a genius, but sometimes she struggled to read Lewis's emotions.

"Alright, enough talking. It's time to eat." Mrs. Tuhs stopped anything from starting, there was a child at the table after all.

Astrid and Lewis nodded in sync. Mr. Tuhs had a glaze of surprise in his eyes. 'Why... Do they seem to be in sync?' Was it unconscious or not?

Astrid ate to her stomach's content. Portions of pasta salad, different rices. She ate a mix of everything at the table.

Lewis ate with perfect manners, he was brought up to have outstanding manners. Sometimes he was called stiff by others for it. But noticing Astrid's manners. While also eating at least 3 times the amount he did. He felt a little strange.

'Where does that food go? Did she not eat this morning? Impossible, she would be murdered by her parents if she didn't.' Lewis couldn't help but look at Astrid's flat stomach.

Astrid could take being looked at quietly, but so open at a dinner table with her parents as well? She didn't know how to react in the situation.

*Cough* Mrs. Tuhs light cough brought Lewis back to earth. While making Astrid give a side glance to him in return.

Despite it being a little awkward at the start for him. Lewis quickly adapted to the situation, understanding that Astrid held the power at the table. He took the situation that she took most of the food for her and her sister with glee.

'At least she eats a lot. Maybe she will put on some weight... Mm, maybe the food went to her legs instead?' Lewis couldn't stop staring at Astrid so openly.

If Anya wasn't in the equation, Astrid might have already snapped. But she had patience, as finger started to rhythmically tap the table.

'Stop looking at me. Didn't you have enough last night staring at me?' Astrid couldn't wait to snap. But she couldn't, while she was in the presence of her sister. She wouldn't do anything to upset her.

Anya was quite happy to have Lewis eating with them, she started to talk to him about how great her sister was. Then about other random things...

Although he wasn't fully focused on the conversation, he had experience with Leone in the past, so he knew the right things to say to please a child.

As lunch came to an end. Mrs. Tuhs couldn't help but sigh at the scene she was watching. While her husband was fuming as Lewis ogled his daughter in front of him. She could sense Astrid's change in mood.

That was when Astrid stood up and excused herself, 'needing the bathroom' was her excuse. But really she was trying her best to not pull out Lewis's eyes from his sockets.

With Astrid gone, Mrs. Tuhs could finally stop eating to speak her mind.

"Lewis, me and my husband don't mind you. Honestly, any man that could offer our daughter happiness will be good for us. I know you are young, but you do need some self-control." Mrs. Tuhs was a middle-aged woman looking in her late thirties, seeing her talk so openly about what he was doing, made Lewis a little embarrassed.

"I understand. I was thinking that her appetite is quite big." Lewis skillfully changed the topic that was at hand.

That was when Mr. Tuhs gave a genuine smile. "Mm, ever since she recovered, she had a good appetite. She will try anything. If she doesn't like it, then she won't eat it again." Lewis took the inference of that sentence.

"She... Never ate like that?" Lewis asked confused, people don't just change their eating habits overnight.

Mrs. Tuhs shook her head. "We struggled to get her to eat anything at all... Honestly, it was like she was a new person when she started to eat so much." Lewis wanted to ask more, but it would be inappropriate.

"Anyway, if you wish to have a chance to marry my daughter. I suggest you go to the garden, Andrea, lead the way please." Mrs. Tuhs sent Lewis off. along with Andrea.

Lewis nodded and was given directions by Andrea, he felt she looked similar to Winoa, and then guessed that the servants had close relationships to the masters in the house...

As Lewis left the room, Anya suddenly looked at her mother and father. "Daddy, what is a marry?" Her wet, and rounded face made her look so innocent asking that question.

*Crack* The glass in Mr. Tuhs' hand started to crack. "Don't worry angel, a 'marry' isn't a thing. Your sister will be marrying that handsome uncle. They will be like your mummy and daddy." Mrs. Tuhs gave the answer to the question...

"Damn bastard. Ogling my daughter in daylight, if he thinks he gets my blessings he is dreaming." Mr. Tuhs muttered, as he entered despair.

Anya nodded her head with vague understanding. As she finished eating, she then went to play with her mother and father...
