(Chapter 89) Local Mafia Being Arrested

Winoa could already guess that Astrid was in a bad mood, just for the reason that she walked out of a seafood restaurant. And that the atmosphere in the car was stifling.

Astrid sat in the passenger seat and reached over to the glovebox. Winoa stiffened seeing a slight shake on Astrid's hands. As she gingerly opened a box of cigarettes.

A cripleing addiction. Astrid had finally fallen for human nature, and addiction. She said she smoked while in thought, but Winoa also knew she smoked to calm her emotions down. To numb herself, she knew her boss, and friend, wished to use cigarettes to numb her emotions.

As Astrid visibly calmed down, Winoa started the car. "Go to the nearest base. I'm sure there will be someone who will need to be questioned." Astrid ordered in a low tone, as Winoa hummed in acknowledgment.

Winoa was used to this Astrid. Cold, full of bloodlust, and also desperately trying to not break down. She might hide it well, but Winoa felt she had a good idea of Astrid's psychological state.

"Who knew just seeing a few women in bikinis could make me like this? Tell me Winoa, are you afraid of me?" Astrid laughed self-depreciatingly, she was close to losing control earlier and directly jumping on Francesca. By then, it would be over.

Winoa's heart sipped a beat. "No! Never Astrid." Winoa blurted out, but then composed herself.

Astrid placed her cigarette in the ashtray in the car and lit another. "I'll go home in the morning, make preparations." Astrid spoke in a leveled tone, as those were the last words she spoke to Winoa in the car that night...

.......

It was a very normal morning for Susie, she had stayed up all night catching up to her schedule. She yawned as she rubbed her eyes. And switched the page on her computer to some of the news.

She did this out of habit, her boyfriend was a doctor. Having some knowledge of crimes going on would be helpful now and again. He also would make sure to keep up with medical news in the mornings.

But then an article caught her eye. Apparently the police had caught some influential members of the mafia that run in the drug trade. With the pictures released by the police she looked over and remembered some of the faces.

But she did find it weird, normally the police wouldn't release such news. But the news was released at 6am sharp. And some early doers have already started to comment about it.

Most praising the police in their jobs, but some was skeptical. Having the mafia still be influential in the world can be a scary thing.

As Susie scrolled the news, she caught a new post a few minutes ago. Mentioning about a murder that happened during the night.

She clicked on the photos and immediately felt like gagging. Even though the photos were mild, seeing the victims blood and even the clear hole in his body made her instinctively click off the page.

'If anyone has any news about the victims and their whereabouts during ***** at **** please call this ******* to give police information.'

It was a very simple murder investigation prompt. But then Susie remembered that she had seen a lot of these types of killings recently on the news.

Although they were in different locations, and couldn't possibly be done by one person, it did seem that all the victims had some shares in some businesses, either locally or even internationally.

"If I can figure that out, then so can the police." Susie mumbled to herself, she must be too tired becoming a detective. She then dragged herself to bed for a quick nap...

.......

"Preparations are made Miss." Winoa bowed slightly as she entered the office, as Astrid sipped her wine glass.

Astrid hummed before quickly finishing her drink... She stood up and licked her lips, her red eye glowing a dangerous and entrancing shine.

Winoa didn't say anything else. Astrid's bloodlust was taking out during the night via a spree of violence. Something that was relatively common for her, along with that, she would also drink some blood to give herself some self-control before going mad once again.

.......

Astrid and Winoa came back to the house just in time for breakfast. Seeing their daughter in a calm mood made the two parents relax. As Astrid ate a lot and in relative silence.

Winoa could only guess what was going through Astrid's head right now. She only knew that a normal person might have broken down in front of their parents long ago, but Astrid had a mind of steel, and would never show anyone her weakness.

Astrid caught Anya running to the dining table from the corner of her eye and smiled. Her parents didn't find anything wrong, but Winoa could only blame her instincts for immeediately sensing something was wrong.

"Come Anya, breakfast is good today. It's your favorite." Astrid smiled as she gently lifted Anya to her chair.

Seeing her older sister, the tired Anya beamed into life. "Mmmm! It's my favorite because my sister is here!" She gave such an innocent smile it made everyone in the room melt from her cuteness.

But the look behind Astrid's contacts held a strong emotion, one which she had been hiding, as she lightly tapped Anya's head. "Such a sweet talker." Her voice unknowingly was dimmer in her sentence.

.......

"You need to be careful boss. I saw that some of the mafia had been arrested earlier, since it wasn't either our or Miss Astrid's men then it could only be stragglers or something else." Viviano alerted to his boss in a serious tone.

Lewis hummed as he took some papers in his office. "It's a high possibility it is a bait. But then again it might not be, for now don't make any moves. I won't be put in prison, but Astrid will." Lewis lightly ordered as he took a look at the files.

Viviano nodded. He admired his boss's conviction to Miss Astrid! He was a member of the Guilliano family, so he would have the protection of the government in case anything happened. Along with his coordination with the police, Lewis couldn't be toppled in Italy.

But Astrid didn't have that, sure Lewis can always say a few words for her. But it was incredibly risky, and his boss wouldn't want to make any wrong moves.
