(Chapter 90) A Date He Was Invited To

"Boss, Mr. Carmin and Miss Susie are waiting downstairs." Lewis picked up his phone which had been ringing for only a brief second.

"Send them up." He ordered down the phone before hanging up, he then put away the files he was looking at before waiting for the door to open.

To the side Viviano lightly sighed, he could imagine some of the feelings his boss was experiencing. Especially when the woman you liked didn't call you...

"Hey man. Woah, what happened to you?" Carmin reacted strongly as he was on the other side of Lewis's cold gaze.

"More like what didn't happen." Viviano muttered under his breathe. Before zipping his mouth shut when being on the other side of a deadly glare...

Susie followed in behind apprehensively, not only was she tired, but she also wasn't that close to Lewis. But since his office was on the way to where she needed to be, Carmin suggested popping in.

"What do you think of it?" Lewis asked scripted as he sat back in his chair, his gaze deepening.

Carmin then got serious. "Honestly? I would love to get some blood tests for myself, where does her illness stem from? Why does it seem so strange? I have a lot of questions." Carmin knew the topic immediately, since he had been looking into the depths of the medical industry for Lewis.

But the more he looked, the less he knew. It was like he learned more and had more questions. If anything he doubted those files Lewis sent him. How could there be such a high-profile movement by some of the best doctors in the country and some international doctors, but there be so little information be available?

Lewis sighed in understanding. "Alright, no need to look anymore. No progress will be made like this." Lewis knew what Carmin was feeling. The more he looked into it, he wondered if it was a grand conspiracy.

Viviano and Susie could grasp the conversation but didn't say anything. It wasn't Viviano's place to say anything, and Susie was too tired to care right now.

"Mm, I guess the only thing we can do now is..." Carmin was mid-sentence before he was cut off by Lewis's phone.

Viviano was shocked, this was his boss's personal phone! Not a phone connected to the company, his boss was extremely professional and wouldn't answer the phone at work...

"Yeah?" Lewis then answered the phone with a smile on his face, his glare had softened considerably.

Viviano felt his mouth twitching. It didn't take a genius to know who called him...

Just hearing a one-sided conversation was awkward for the three. Just hearing Lewis going "Okay." And "I'll meet you there." Just made their heads hurt.

Lewis then put down his phone with a raised eyebrow. Clearly indicating to Carmin that he should finish his sentence.

Carmin just coughed. "Don't worry about me. I think we'll be on our way, we won't be no third party for you." Carmin then gave an ever so gracious smile before walking out with Susie.

"Cancel my meetings, I have something important going on today." Lewis spoke clearly, as he then reached into his desk.

Viviano sighed. He was the boss. What could he do to say no? But at least his boss was more human now...

.......

"Your editor wants to meet you here?" Carmin asked as he sat down and looked at the simple menu.

Susie nodded. "She said she just wanted to pass over some manuscripts quickly, nothing more than that." Susie gave a light smile. She felt a lot more comfortable in a 'simple' restaurant like this one.

Carmin nodded with acknowledgment, at least after that they can eat here and go on a date... "Pfft." As he thought that, he then spat out the coke in his mouth.

Susie frowned. "Eww, don't spit over me. What did you see to make you..."

"..." Ah, Susie turned her head to only see the new Master of the Guilliano family walk into a restaurant with some casual clothing on! Were her eyes playing tricks on her?

Just at that time, her editor walked in behind him and immediately saw Susie looking in her direction with a strange expression. She was also sitting with a man...

Susie quickly apologized and didn't say a word about the man beside her. But based on his actions to her, it was clear they were together...

"Thanks, I'll send over work in a few days then. I didn't know the masses would love the story as much as they do." Susie sighed and rubbed her poor eyes.

Her editor smiled apologetically, "All you need to do is this last chapter and then we can start making paperback copies, I also have something to send you later. But that'll wait until you can see straight." Her editor was a nice person, not working her to death just yet.

Meanwhile...

"Well, I guess I can class this as a date right?" Lewis asked as he eyes up the woman opposite him.

She was wearing a jumper and jeans, for the weather it didn't look the best. But based on how cold her personality was, there was no way she would be sweating from the heat.

"Sure." Astrid replied as she sipped on the coke she ordered, she was neither a fan nor a hater of fizzy drinks.

Lewis and Astrid then ordered their food and talked about Anya, a common topic they could talk about. Based on Astrid's love for her, and Lewis wanting to be the brother-in-law, and having experience with children from a young age.

But Lewis had sensed something was wrong. All Astrid talked about was Anya, normally she wouldn't speak too much about her in public in case of anything out of her control. But her calmness was now making Lewis a little suspicious.

"Astrid, what is bothering you?" Lewis cut off her words as he seriously gazed into Astrid's eyes.

Astrid was caught off guard, she lowered her eyes and didn't reply.

Lewis had patience, but he was constantly being tested by Astrid. *Sigh* "I'm no psychologist, but I can see something is bothering you. I can't read your mind. So I won't be able to help if you don't say anything." Lewis saw Astrid's lashes tremble after his words.

Astrid then felt that feeling come up again. The same she felt for a while, for the 2 months she and Lewis had been talking regularly, she had started to feel something.

Love? No, she was guilty. Guilty for this man. Why was he putting in so much time for her? How could he not call her disgusting? Her eyes, why didn't he just tell some medical professors or the police about her? She was a ticking time bomb ready to explode at all times.

How can she be allowed to have a family as loving as her's? They don't question her movements, she has the freedom to do what she wants. They only wish for their enemies to be eliminated... How could they let someone as precious as Anya near someone like her? A monster, full of killing intent, and full of lust for even random people and her closest friends...

Why was Francesca calm around someone like her? Couldn't she tell the way she looked at her wasn't normal? She was even using Francesca for her own goal yesterday, part of an elaborate plan...

"Why?" Astrid mumbled under her breath.

"Why what?" Lewis asked gently, did he make another crack in her armor again?

Astrid then looked up and eyed Lewis. "Why don't you think of me as a monster?
