(Chapter 93) His Future Wife

"Grandfather." Lewis greeted Elder Guilliano as he walked into his study room.

Elder Guilliano had only recently stepped down, so he still did a little work here and there when he was bored. But he had started to redesign his study into a room full of his current interests. One of them was painting.

Elder Guilliano put down his brush and calmly turned back to face his grandson. His eyes dimmed when he couldn't see the woman he had apparently brung home with him...

Lewis smiled. He knew what his grandfather was worried about. He was always going to be the heir of the family, meaning having an heir of his own was crucial.

However, because of his distrust towards women when he was younger, he stayed well away from anyone that could possibly be a candidate.

Understandably, his grandfather was both worried and a little angry. That was until Lewis came to him 3 years ago and made a deal with him.

If he wasn't with a woman by 25, his grandfather could arrange a marriage. But he could have no say in the woman he personally chose. And if he didn't like her then he would need to deal with it.

Elder Guilliano was steaming angry with him for that deal. But he agreed with it anyway, he wanted his grandson to be happy about his future life, but he also needed to ensure the next generation... He was just balancing those ideas in his mind.

"Don't worry grandfather, you weren't deceived." Lewis calmly spoke, as if reading Elder Guilliano's worries.

His grandfather then narrowed his eyes. Trying to determine if Lewis was lying or not... "You really brought a woman here? Who is she?" Elder Guilliano then turned from a stern grandfather, to a curious mosquito.

Lewis chuckled. "You might have heard about her once... Don't worry grandfather, she will be the one I marry." Lewis didn't reveal Astrid's identity just yet. He didn't want Astrid to feel pressured by his grandfather while she was still trying to accept him.

Elder Guilliano raised his eyebrows. His grey hair ruffled slightly as his lightly sighed. "Alright, I won't interfere. Come, have some tea with a lonely old man for a while." Elder Guilliano invited Lewis with a cup of tea on the table.

.......

Astrid left through Lewis's hidden exit. She drove the car back to the house and locked it up in the garage. She then immediately went to the garden to clear her mind.

She decided to not put her contacts back in. She knew that the gardener wasn't around after lunch. So she sat down and closed her eyes after sending a message.

She had lived with contacts for a while now. While they weren't painful by any means. She always had to be on guard though. Any hit on her head would mean exposure.

But after her talk with Lewis, she was left in thought. Hence, when she heard Winoa come from behind her, she looked back and smiled.

"Tell my mother and father I have something to tell them, I'll be in the dining room for dinner." Astrid looked back at Winoa. Her eyes shining with newfound confidence.

Her parents saw her as an experiment in her previous life. But as Lewis had rightly said, her parents now were completely different. She had real friends in this life that could accept her for who she was. And right now, she wanted to confirm those thoughts Lewis had.

Winoa nodded with subtle hesitation. She didn't expect to be looked at by Astrid's red-eye. It was truly pressurizing and domineering, bringing a shiver down her back. "Yes Miss"

Astrid then closed her eyes and bathed in the sunlight for a while. Feeling some of the urges she had when with Lewis stall. Then proceeding to light a cigarette...

Upon getting a message at work from Winoa that his daughter had something to tell him. He immediately left Stephan to do some work for him and went home. While Mrs. Tuhs made sure to have Anya sorted for the night, both of them worried and excited for what was going to be said.

Dinner was a classic Italian style. Risotto, carbonara, tirisimu. Along with some other personal favorites for Astrid so she wasn't hungry.

With Astrid basically in charge of the family now, she knew all the expenses the house had. Including her ridiculous food expenses. But she didn't care, now she was too indulgent in food. And couldn't care about cost.

Mr. Tuhs came home to the wonderful smell of food and sat himself down. Mrs. Tuhs was with Anya getting her to eat. While Winoa and Andrea also joined in the meal.

"Winoa, do you know what Astrid will be telling us?" Mr. Tuhs was started to get impatient, it had been 5 minutes since everyone but Astrid sat down. A rarity for her who normally was quick to the table.

Winoa shook her head. Although she knew Astrid looked more confident earlier, she had no clue what she was going to say.

Mr. Tuhs sighed.

The reason why Astrid was a little a late for dinner, was that she was currently standing outside the dining room with an unlit cigarette in her mouth. All the maids were done for the day, so none saw her look, which would terrify them right now.

Astrid then sighed. As she opened the door still with the cigarette in her mouth. Making her parents look at her incredulously.

They knew Astrid had been smoking. It was normal for people under as much stress as Astrid was. But they knew she never showed a cigarette to Anya. But then they noticed something.

Astrid calmly walked to the table and took her seat. As she raised her head. She saw the blank look on everyone's face, even Winoa's...

"Wow! Sis's eye is so pretty!" The first words to break the silence, were the childish praise by Anya.

Astrid's breath hitched. She was terrified, terrified of herself. How could her baby sister think her blood-red eye full of bloodthirst be pretty?

Astrid lightly chuckled as she went to pat Anya's head. "Is it? Then Anya can look at it for as long as she wants." Astrid spoke softly, understanding Lewis's words from earlier.

She was their family. This was a normal family. Loving no matter the circumstance, exuding kindness and warmth.

"Mmm, shall we eat then?" Mr. Tuhs felt this had an explanation in order, the sclera of her eye was pure black instead of white. While everything within was crimson. It was a sight, but even he felt some pressure from his own daughter looking at it.

Astrid nodded, putting her head down and eating. While everyone else apart from Winoa, felt they lost part of their appetite.
