(The outcome)

In the cold dark desolate space, a lone ship floats around, it's designated name was the pathfinder. Finding a new path of discovery but now only manning one crew out of the hundred it was supposed to have.

The ship is able to perform self-autonomous maintenance with the drones stored in the storage bay once they active, and other life support features. The only issue that could be seen here is the mental aspect of Aiden's mind.

Running away scared for his life and not to mention trying out a ship that has never been tested, until now a lot could be going through his mind. For now, he remains unconscious on the metal floor of the ship's helm, as he survives the transportation on minimal life support systems running through the ship.

Laura was the first to shine light into the darkroom on her holodisk as she looks around spotting Aiden lying flat out on the ground, she then spun her head around toward the glass window peering out into the empty void, which was space.

"System startup program."

"Ship core inactive... igniting the core spark... Processing."

A few minutes later the interior lights of the ship soon began to flicker on and off again, machinery sounded off when the ship core reactor was capable of supplying energy to them.

"Ship core, at 89 percent efficiently, No structural or outer hull damage detected."

"Well, that's good news." Laura sways one of her hands as her eyes began to blink repeatedly within a few sessions of each other.

"Ship diagnostics, Core room, OK, Sleeping quarters, OK, research bay, OK, Refinery and engineering compartments, OK, Engine room, OK, life support functions, OK, long-range communication and sensors, OK, Storage units, OK, warp drive, OK."

With everything coming back in working conditions, Laura turns to look at Aiden. Raising up a hand she began to do a basic medical scan on his body.

"Health Status, No blunt trauma received, no exterior damage detected..."

"Ugh..." A finger twitch slightly

"Wha-... What the hell happened?" Aiden's eyes slowly awaken to the world, but the world was him lying on the ground, staring directly at one of the ship computer panels.

"You're awake," Laura said with a gentle smile on her face.

"It feels like I've been hit by a gargo." Gargo a large 4 legged mammal creature discover on a planet called, Altero Prime.

"Well, the tests were a success... we made it."

"test? what tes-." Aiden was in the middle of getting himself up as he stares out from the front window of the ship and into deep space.

"Right, I'm on the pathfinder and I was trying to flee from the surge through the untested Ark rings."

Aiden quickly patted around his body making sure no weird physical changes had appeared on his body. The last part he touches was the area between his legs, as he blew a sigh of relief.

"Nothing change... Thank god." But the eerily silence came after was unsettling, even in space.

"Laura..." He bent over and pick up the holodisk off the ground and connected it to a small module for an AI compartment slot.

"What is it?"

"Can you check the interior cameras and scan the entire ship of any lifeforms?"

"You wanted to see if anyone else made it onto the ship before you right?"

"Ye-" Something cut from off and it was the fact that he could potentially be the last human of his civilization, that idea would be frightening for anyone. "Yes."

Laura stared back at Aiden for a few moments deciding whatever or not to enact his order.

"I'll do it... But if the results come back negative, I want you to take a rest you have been through a lot and I'm not sure if your mentality fit right now."

Laura turns around with her back facing Aiden before he could have the chance to say anything in return.

"I... I'll try." with a silent sigh, he walks over to the captain chair center in the middle of the ship helm, and sat himself down, and leans his back against the chair support.

(" The whole point of this entire project! And this ship performed an interdimensional jump...")

("just like the surge... exactly how they invaded our realm...")

("Will our efforts end up with just me? Is this our dead end? Alone in space in a reality that isn't even my, to begin with!") He clutches his hands together with so many things on his mind, and so many experiences that he needs to take in.

(" What can I even do here? I'm just a single scientist...")

"And a person who was lucky enough to be the sole survivor of his entire race." He mutters to himself quietly.

He glances over at Laura who was still in the process of ship scan. (" Should I cancel that order?") His eyes started to become weak with his eyelids shutting themselves dozing off to sleep.

Roughly two hours later he awoken from his nap glancing between both sides of the room, Laura was nowhere to be found. "Laura? Laura where are you?"

He sat straight up only to see Laura materialize a holographic image of herself standing in front of him.

"You're awake... again."

"Don't scare me like that... I'm already stressed out from this situation as it is."

"I'm sorry, I finish the scan hours ago So I went ahead to categorize all the supplies that were preloaded onto the ship."

"With enough rationing of food and water, it could last up to-"

Aiden holds up a hand to stop Laura from continuing to say anything further.

"Just... please tell me what was the results of the scan?"

Laura became quiet when Aiden ask her this question.

"There no one else on board this ship, other than you... I'm sorry if you didn't want to hear this."

Aiden leans back into the chair and closes his eyes again.

"No... I already knew the answer I just wish I was lying to myself."

"Do you want me to continue my report?'

A small frown grew on Aiden's face as he reopens his eyes again.

"Sure... go ahead..." His voice sounded all disheartened.

"Continuing where I left off... If we ration the food and water it could last up to almost a year."

"All important supplies for maintenance repairs and materials for base camp construction are intact."

A secondary goal for the crew of the pathfinder was to establish a basic base camp when they found a planet to settle on in the dimensional they travel to.

"And one last thing, while you were asleep the ship's long-range sensors had picked up a habitable planet a few hundred light-years away."

"And telling me that is important?" Aiden sarcastly said

"It's important because we made it through the Ark rings... and you survive the journey."

"That means the mission is still a go... and you must complete it."

"Alone? knowing that I could be the last human?"

"Yes, alone!" She shouted back at Aiden "And we both know we can't be 100 percent sure about that."

"And we're in an alternative reality, maybe we could stumble across humans in this reality!"

Aiden wasn't going to respond back to Laura when she mentions other humans. What could the humans of this reality possibly do to the enemies that even with all of their collective might and knowledge couldn't defeat.

"If you won't give me the orders then." as soon as she dematerialized, the engines started to turn on.

"What- What are you doing? Laura, Laura!" Aiden screams out in the room, pushing himself off the chair, and began frantically looking around.

"Plotting course and preparing the ship to enter light speed."

"I didn't order you to do this... I'm in charge here!"

"With all due respect, Sir, you may be the highest-ranking position on the ship, but protocol dictates If the person in the leading role is not physically or mentally fit, the AI will have full authority on the future actions of the project..."

With haste, she appears in front of him again. "That means the ship!"

"I order you to stop this ship!"

"No, My goal is to complete the mission objective and I'm planning to follow through!"

The ship was picking up speed from the sunlight engines, The quad engines at max power.

"Now I ask of you to sit your ass back down in the chair!"

Aiden couldn't believe his eyes, his own AI was defying his orders, he practically lost control of the ship. A small spark of light shines in front of the window screen as the ship is preparing to enter light speed.

"Don't you dare... Don't you da-" He was flung backward into the chair in an awkward sitting position the moment the ship activated its warp drive.

"I say again... please sit down."
