(Knowledge.2)

Aiden was standing there with his fist up in the air, and a big grin on his face, the display from the drone camera shows that the drone was flying up and away from the group of adventurers. He would lower his hand back down soon after. Everyone knows the first contact scenario of extraterrestrial beings, you have the native lifeform that grew up on the planet, and then you have Aiden who was the alien in this situation.

His newly founded glory and the feeling of being a hero came to an abrupt end when reality came knocking on his door. Laura had completed the extensive system checkup on the ship and saw what Aiden was doing, and then she rematerialized herself in the ship's main deck.

"What were you thinking? You do realize that might have consequences for us in the future right?" Laura said, startling Aiden a little. "You said it yourself, humans fear the unknown."

"Please don't appear like that again." Then he took a long silent pause to look over seeker 3 camera feed. "And..." He grits his teeth "And I know... I made a rash choice base on my emotions to help them."

"But I just couldn't leave them be, while I stand here and do nothing."

Laura silently stared at Aiden, she knew that Aiden wasn't the type of guy who will stand on the sidelines and leave someone to die, she's been his assistant for far too long to know that. She also knows that if he was given the chance to whine and complain, about a situation and how hard it is he would. Him being the sole survivor of a project that was supposed to help people in his reality, to take the fight back to the enemy, but it ended up with a failure and forcing him to leave behind everyone he once knew.

"I understand you want to save people, especially because they look like humans." Laura would start to approach Aiden. "And I know you don't want to see any more humans in danger or get hurt or worst... killed."

"Just..." She stops in the middle of her speaking and went back to staring at him.

"Be more careful with my decisions?" Said Aiden

"Yeah I- I know laura." He tried to bring up a gentle smile but fail to do that.

Laura saw this and reacted to give her own tiny smile back to him, then her eyes wander over to the screen display.

"Let's hope that the people you just saved, won't spread any rumors and arouse suspicion."

"They... probably will, they gotta report to someone looking like that, right?" Aiden awkwardly rubs the back of his head

Laura facepalms and shook her head slightly out of disappointment, like how a mother was disappointed at their child for doing something bad.

"For now, we should let the drones continue scouting and gathering more Intel for us..." Laura snaps her fingers that pops up multiple catalogs of data and information collected so far.

Aiden curiously walks up to one of the catalog lists that contains most of the audio recordings of the spoken language. He selects the human tab and sees a lot of different kinds of audio files.

"Do... you think we will be able to translate their language? I feel like we should use some sort of universal language first."

Laura nodded yes to the first part of the question. "And to answer your last statement, we don't need to use a universal language."

"Why not? A universal language should work, right? any intelligent species should understand math and chemistry... well maybe not chemistry."

"But at least math," Aiden said.

"Because it's unnecessary, yes we could use math to talk to them..." Laura walks up next to Aiden and taps on an audio file, multiple of the same audio recordings would appear, spoken by different people, and at different vocal tones.

"But when it comes to verbal language, all we need to do is to collect the words or the phrases they say repeatedly and then match it up to the body language."

"Then compare that to our own language."

She lets a couple of the audio files play out, there were a few adult voices of male and female, a few older voice tones, and a single child. They were saying all the same words or phrases.

"From what we gather so far I assume this phrase is some sort of greetings... and they say it when the sun is starting to come up."

"Meeting that this could mean, Good morning."

She stops the audio files from playing again and turns to look at Aiden.

"I see... So I'm guessing if I ever meet up with the locals, You would just match up the spoken word from our database and translate it for me right?... and vice versa?"

Laura nodded yes to that. "we still need more audio recordings though, I bet that if we tried talking to one of the humans now, it would be like someone speaking extremely bad English to us."

Aiden swipes the tab over to the next language type that comes from a different species on the planet.

"Not to mention this planet holds more than 1 intelligent race, making us-" He let out a quick sigh. "Do more work on trying to figure out their language."

"Why couldn't this planet just have humans, and make my-" He stops himself and looks on over at Laura crossing her arms together. "Our work a lot easier." Laura tilts her head to the side and then uncrossed her arms.

"What about cultural things? Do we even have anything on culture? Speaking to them and to be able to understand their lifestyles are two different things." Aiden questions as he looks around for the catalog tab for cultural information.

He couldn't find it. In fact, there hasn't been any information gathered about their culture, just an empty blank slate.

"To answer that, I will have to say no..."

"Why not?"

"It's because collecting that kind of information requires a more personal route..." said Laura.

"If we want to fully comprehend their cultures, traditions, and customs, you must personally go down there and experience them." Laura pointed over at one of the seeker's drones that were flying above a town settlement, as it collects data.

"We can't do that by the drones... no matter how we try to hide them from their vision if we have them too close they will eventually be found."

"I see..." Aiden's facial expression changes once more.

"Yeah... sorry." She quickly replied, but Aiden holds up a hand.

"Don't be, this was something that I should have expected on my own."

"That just gives me another reason for me to find a perfect spot to land this ship."

"Do you even have any locations pick out?"

"I have a few places in mind, but nothing too concrete yet."

Aiden turns around and walks over to the captain's chair and sat down on it. He rests his back against the back support and layout his arms on the armrest.

"I just hope we will be able to keep our ship hidden long enough to set up base camp and have proper defenses created."

He gazes at the planet seeing it steadily rotate ever so slowly in his eyes. He always kept staring at it but he just couldn't find the exact words to describe why he does this, or what he even feels like when he does this. But one thing was he was certain about, staring at the planet allow his mind to relax a bit and release some built-up anxiety.
