"Get us close to the planetary gravity well." Aiden requested from Laura.
Laura responded with no words but with a simple nod in acknowledgment, her eyes flickered at the command she was given and sounds of faint engine startup could be heard coming all over the interior of the ship. The engines sputtered a for few moments and then they would spark back to life, propelling pathfinder closer to the planet and away from the lunar orbit.
"Estimated time until we are within the planet gravity well is 10 minutes" Laura said after she ignited the engine's startup sequence.
"Make sure we will still be out of range of it, I want to give the command to begin our planetary entry."
"Orders confirm."
He pushes a button on a side panel on the captain chair, and brought up the main menu sort of screen display, and went through the different settings until he finds the tab he wanted. He wanted to do another review list of what kind of equipment was available to him, in the storage bay.
(" 5 miner drones... 5 construction drones, so a total of 10 drones that can be used for the base creation, should I focus on building more drones to increase the base construction speed? ")
(" Or just use the natural resources just for the base, and just wait the entire month until it's complete? ")
He places his elbow on the armrest and his palm on his cheekbones, as he tries to decide the best course of action.
(" If I wait for the 1-month duration, what do I even have to protect myself anyway? ") He swipes the screen a few times until he is on a different list.
(" 2 squads of sentinel droids, and 2 heavy-duty marauders, and 1 Raven? ")
For the previous drones, like the miner and the construction, the name is fairly obvious.
Sentinel droids and Marauders the latest technology in robotics from Star Federation military research and development labs. Sentinel droids are humanoid robotic droids use for police work when things become a bit too intense for regular human law enforcement to handle.
They can be equipped with a rocket pod on one side of their shoulder frame, and they can carry a heavyweight pulse rifle in their hands, a built-in stun beam is located on one of the arms, and the more important function it can do is deploy a light energy field in one general direction, to block anything incoming attacks from that direction.
While the droid is can be equipped with many heavy-weight equipments that could easily be used with any regular soldier with an exosuit, they lack the strength to carry anything heavier and perform more complicated tasks, not to mention they aren't able to fully cover themselves in their shielding.
That's why sentinels are mostly used by law enforcement when a situation becomes a little too hot, and for security for a wealthy businessman.
Now, on the other hand, Marauders possess much greater firepower hence they are called heavy duty. Marauders are a 4 legged mechanical walker that is long as a motorcycle and a wide as a golf cart. They can be strap with two missile batteries to their sides that pop out, and the main plasma cannon that comes from the top.
Unlike the sentinels The marauders are capable of fully deploying a shield that goes all around them, leaving only the button and the top exposed.
The raven is the last weapon of Aiden's arsenal, It has a design of a fighter jet, able to pop out two plasma cannons from below, not to mention it has a wide range of both scanning and tracking equipment.
Its ability to flip itself in mid-air makes it one of the best aerial fighter drones, with just enough firepower and high agility.
(" These are top of the line... too bad they didn't make much of a difference in our war. ")
"Laura..."
"Yes?"
Aiden rotates the screen around and points at the list of equipment he has.
"once we get everything set up... we're able to create more of these right?" Aiden asks.
"Indeed we can, Why do you ask?" Laura responded back interested in what he has to say to their limited supplies.
"In case we ever lose one of them." He said with a straight voice.
"If we ever lose one of them?" Laura said with sarcasm "We shouldn't be losing them in the first place."
"Well~" He was now awkwardly rolling his head around and tapping his fingers on the chair armrest.
"There is the possibility we could lose them in a fight, we don't truly know their fighting capabilities just now."
Laura frown at the idea of their vast scientific knowledge losing to some primitive backwater planet, that the people of this world have yet to discover they are there. Just casually orbiting around the planet without a care in the world.
"Do you doubt what we're capable of?" Laura said.
"No, No... it's just that even from our limited recon from the seeker's drone, We have yet to see a militarized use of beta particles that is so widely used on that planet." He crosses his arms and raises up an eyebrow.
"Isn't that at least a bit strange to you?"
Laura turns to look at the planet, as it slowly becomes bigger with the ship steadily approaching the planet's gravity.
"That is... That is logical." She said quietly.
"I agree with, it's best not to lose any of these, But I also want to say a quick note, I rather not use them against them in the first place." He pushes himself off the captain's chair and stood next to Laura, then he let out a faint exhaust sigh.
"If we have to shoot them to prevent your death, I'll remotely take control of them to wipe them out."
"eh-" Aiden had a tiny surprised look on his face when Laura said all of that "Nevermind.." He mutters afterward.
"so, what's your plan now?" Question Laura.
"I'm going to stay with the 1-month plan, and then gather more Intel personally" Aiden said.
"To be able to understand their culture and traditions." He snaps both of his fingers at Laura
"Would you like a droid escort for that?" Laura titled her head to the side, a bit worried for his safety.
"No, I wouldn't expect them to feel comfortable around a metallic robotic." He said sarcastly waved it off the notion of him having escorts.
"It might even draw more attention toward me, and I don't want that."
"Just keep them station around the ships landing zone."
"Orders confirm." Laura's eyes flickered again, then a beep sound effect went off.
It was almost about time, the ship would roughly be outside the planet's gravitational pull range. The ship helm had a beeping sound go off alerting Aiden that the pathfinder had just arrived at the designated coordinates, and is ready to begin its entry.
"We can begin our descent to the planet surface now, Awaiting your command, Sir." Laura said confirming the vocal command to perform the next action.
Aiden quickly walked back to the captain's chair and sat himself down while clutching the armrest his both of his hands. "Begin the descent."
The engines kicked up once more and the ship had entered the planet gravity, they were slowly being pulled into the surface and propelling themselves forward at the same time. (" I hope we survive this. ") He had his eyes close, he's going to reopen them when he has successfully made it down.
