Two months had passed since the werewolf attack all was well. I was training in the forest with my mum and my dad and had made huge strides in the Batman department. I was able to slightly control my power. But the truth was that it was only 5% of what I could. If I used 100% there was a chance of me breaking all my bones and tearing my limbs off.
This was because my body wasn't ready yet to handle the physical strain to lift trucks. I was able to punch through trees and break rocks and small boulders but it wasn't enough. I had to become stronger so I could protect my family.
My mum was a bit frightened of my power. I didn't only possess inhumane strength but also visual prowess that could trick any enemy. Apparently I had inherited my visual prowess from my mum but she was way more experienced than me. After all she had decades of training. She could make my dad run around in circles and do backflips even though he can withstand a Crucio. I was nowhere as talented as my mum, only in a critical situation like back in Knockturn Alley could I successfully control Hisoka but then again, Hisoka was an idiot and my father wasn't.
It was a bit like occlumency but I could only penetrate other people's minds but not protect my own. I could also control them but if I used my eyes too long to control people it would hurt, a lot. Like my eyes were nearly bleeding of how much it hurt. I guess that's something else to train
I was also becoming quite agitated of not knowing my last name so I inquired with my mother but she just sighed and had a sad look on her face. She would give me a long look but decided I wasn't ready yet. ''I'll tell you when you're magically mature, but if I deem you not mature enough to know the answer. I'll tell you when you experience your first bloodmoon''
My first blood moon? What the hell does that mean, do vampires experience periods? I assumed not but I still was curious. ''What's a blood moon and what does it have to do with vampires?''
My mum answered my inquiry ''The Blood Moon is a ritualistic ceremony that has been around since the first millenium. The moon is summoned through a dark ritual lead by dark beings on a young vampires 16th birthday. This moon unlocks sacred power in the young vampire and makes them even stronger. A blood moon works on any vampire when they have their 16th birthday as a vampire but 16 is regarded as a holy number in the vampire community so it's works best on children that were born as a vampire''
Even more powers? I could unlock even more power? This was a convenient development but it's considered as a dark ritual which I wasn't sure if it would be morally right. I might've been reborn as a dark creature but that didn't mean I had to immediately become dark. I would rather not kill if it was necessary. I'm not desperate for power like Big V is.
We finished our training and got back to our house. I decided to pop another question. But I waited for dinner because I wanted everyone to be present. I had noticed that my parents weren't exactly in love. They didn't sleep in the same bed and they didn't act all lovey-dovey that you expected from a married couple.
When we sat down for dinner and ate all of our food I went ahead with my inquiry. ''Mom, dad. Are you two getting a divorce?'' My dad spat out his coffee and gave my mum a ''What the fuck do we tell him"?'' face.
My mum remained calm and answered my inquiry ''No Anthony we're not getting a divorce, in fact. That would be impossible since we never have been married'' My mum took a bite out of her biscuit and had a thoughtful expression.
''Should we tell him Richard'' My dad aka Richard looked at my mum, he looked at me and again at my mum. It was like he was watching a tennis match. ''I… Uhh.. I mean he deserves to know but what if he can't handle it, he's so young after all''
My mum seemed to be lost in thought. I already had a feeling something was amiss in my family but I couldn't put my finger on it. But now I knew. It had to be something between my parents. Or maybe they weren't even my parents, well I knew my mum was actually my mum but the way my dad acted around me was strange. Like he wasn't really comfortable with our relationship. I knew he loved me in his own way but there was always this feeling of remorse on his face. Like it was a painful memory.
But then my suspicions were confirmed ''Listen son… I-I'm not your actual father. Your actual father died before you were born. He… He was my brother'' Tears were streaming down my father's face. It seemed he still had trouble trying to get over his brothers.. my father's death.
But this was great, now I also had daddy issues to add to my collection of mental illnesses. A fine addition to my collection. I felt like I was playing Pokémon just a couple more and I had caught them all.
''Anthony, I still love you though, even though I would never be able to rival your father's love I still tried my best to take care of you''
I was curious to know how he died. I know he was an auror. my father… I mean my step-father told me so. But I wanted to know for certain so I asked.
''How did my father die?'' My mum looked at me with her piercing crimson eyes. ''It's a long story darling, and a bleak one I'm not sure if it's appropriate to tell you''
But I still wanted to know it's not like I wanted to avenge my father but it felt crucial to know. I didn't like to be kept in the dark and be told pretty white lies so life seemed better. Because I already knew life can suck. ''Please tell me. Otherwise I'll find out myself eventually''
My mum sighed and held her head with her hands. But after a few seconds of thinking she obliged. ''Fine but I warned you. But if you are frightened I won't have you sleep in my bed again like you used to do when you were 4''
I blushed, I slept in her bed for entirely different reasons but luckily my mum wouldn't be able to know that. I still didn't truly love her back then and just saw her for what she looked like. Luckily I quickly realised that having an oedipus complex wasn't really the best way of living life.
My mum continued ''It all started when there was a war between vampire clans. And it all had to do with you being born. We're from the Alucard clan and at that current time the Alucard clan was in a war of around 2000 years long with the Cullen clan. But when the Cullen clan heard that I had mated with a wizard and you were on the verge of being born they retaliated. They knew how strong a half-vampire could be''
So my name was Anthony Alucard, sounded like a superhero's name. Or a battery who would give his kids the initials AA. But why didn't I inherit my dad's surname. Surely that would've been better. Especially if the Cullen clan despised us. I also noticed that Alucard was Dracula backwards. Also something to take notice of.
''Why didn't you give me my dad's surname?'' My mother gave me a 'Of course we tried that you nimwit' face and rolled her eyes but still answered my question. ''If you would let me finish then you would've known, but fine, I'll tell you. Your father and I really tried but every time we tried to change your name on the birth certificate it would magically change back. Apparently the Alucard clan didn't approve of us changing your surname and made sure we couldn't. If we changed your surname it would formally mean you were from a different clan and couldn't help out the clan when they needed our help.
''But who cares about the Alucard clan? They basically conscripted me even before I was born if I'm getting this right'' My mum sighed again, apparently the situation wasn't as simple as I thought it to be.
''It's not so simple darling, I was cared for by the clan and they made sure I was never hurt. They also approved of me dating your father which was very rare, I'll take you to meet them when you've had your first Blood Moon. I want you to be able to defend yourself if there's still war''
So I was going to meet my real vampire family in 6 years. That definitely was something to look out for. I wonder how they were. Were they really cruel like in most movies or were they chill beings. Surely they had to adapt a little to our society.
''But still, what happened to my father?'' My mum had a dark look on her face. One that consisted of pure hatred. She shifted her leg onto her other leg and took a sip of her coffee. She really likes coffee, probably because she added a little blood in there. But still it was strange to see a caffeine addicted vampire.
''The Cullen family got wind that I was having a child. First off they weren't concerned but when they learned that I was dating a wizard and that there was a possibility that you were half-vampire they retaliated. They attacked our home. Well I was certain it was them, they had hired wizards to do their bidding so they couldn't be blamed for the attack. Your father gave his life to protect us and I nearly escaped''
''What did the Alucard family think of this?'' Suddenly there was a big bang and a puff smoke appeared. Like I just did a summoning jutsu or something. Out of nowhere there were 3 vampires in the living room. Their piercing red eyes looked into mine and the oldest of the 3 answered. ''We were pissed off of course''
My step-dad's mouth hung all the way to the floor but quickly regained his cool. ''Richard Macmillan nice to meet you'' my step-dad clearly was trying to make nice but the vampires weren't having it.
The oldest of the 3 had a look of disdain on him ''Don't touch me wizard'' and took a small step backwards. Like my step-dad was a walking virus. Meanwhile I had this look of wonder and confusion. Why did they only now attempt to come into contact with me? And why here? Talk about good timing.
