We hurried back to our house. The werewolves weren't far off but they clearly were wary of us. They knew we had a plan and were scheming something. That's why they kept their distance to make sure they could back off if needed. Luckily this worked in our favor and gave us more room to pick up dad.
My father was already standing outside, he was probably wondering why we were taking so long. So we swooped down and each of us grabbed one arm to support him and lifted him into the air.
''Hey uh wait guys! I'm afraid of heights! Stop!'' I laughed out loud. A wizard who's afraid of heights was pretty odd. But then again I had never seen him use a broom. My mum also laughed and commented ''What's wrong? Don't you like that breeze on your ankles?'' Now I was laughing even louder. I was struggling to hold my dad because of how much I was laughing.
But then they saw the werewolves again and I quickly became serious again. My mum filled in my dad of the situation and he was visibly mentally preparing himself. I never saw my dad as a brave man and I definitely was seeing that right now. He always knew the right moment to flee the scene.
The werewolves came to meet us but when they saw that we were continuing to fly they chased us again. I looked at the moon and saw that it was just past it's peak, which meant there was still a lot of time for those beasts to roam around. It would seem that this wouldn't become a battle of attrition but the one who would get the first punch in would win.
We finally got back to the clearing in the forest and let my dad stand on his feet. He immediately fell to his knees and tried not to spew his dinner. That bad huh? I wonder what would happen if I were to juggle him around in the air?
A plan for another day. My dad quickly got back to his feet and transfigured the ground around us and made holes everywhere. They were hard to spot and around 15 feet deep so even if a werewolf fell down there they would have trouble getting out of there.
Whilst we were waiting for the werewolves to arrive I racked my brain trying to think of a way to defeat them. Werewolves are easily killed by the killing curse but it takes a dark wizard to cast that spell and my dad wasn't a dark wizard. Silver doesn't seem to work but is more painful than the cruciatus curse so if I wanted to make them suffer I could.
A cutting curse to the neck would also work but the werewolves were constantly moving and hard to hit. It would be better to trap them and bind them and then do a cutting curse from close by to make sure they would die.
I told my parents my plan and they seemed to understand what I meant. My dad stood behind us whilst we protected him from any attacks. If we were scratched or bitten we wouldn't turn into werewolves but he would.
Finally after a little while there werewolves arrived and they seemed pissed. They were ready to eat us all and leave nothing to spare. I mean I could get why they were pissed. I would be pissed too if my food kept running away from me when I was trying to eat it. And also the whole feud between my mother and them wouldn't help their mood.
The male werewolf jumped at our direction but my mom and I could dodge him easily because we were really hard to hit. We swooped down and both changed shape mid-punch and sent the werewolf flying into one of our holes.
He roared as loud as he could but it didn't really faze me anymore. We had to get this done as soon as possible. I was becoming tired of flying around constantly and my mother didn't seem to be in top shape either.
It did boost my confidence though, we were able to take down the first one so easily. This might actually be a cinch. And those were the stupidest words I had ever told myself.
The female werewolf seemed to be an entirely different breed. She spotted the holes and marked them with her claws. My dad sent a 'Diffindo' her way but she quickly jumped over the range of the spell closing the distance to us tremendously. She was agile, very agile.
She tried to hit me and when I thought I had dodged her she shifted her balance to her other paws and did a full 180 hitting me in the process. I fell to the ground with heaven and earth spinning around me. It was like being a kamikaze pilot.
My mother shouted ''No!'' and landed a huge blow on the werewolf's side. I slowly got up but my ribs hurt a lot. Her punch had some ridiculous force behind it but I could manage. The bitch looked at me with a grin full of teeth. She was enjoying this.
The female werewolf aka the bitch also got back up again and stared at me. It seemed like I was her target. ''Hey I know I'm hot and all but no need to stare at me like that'' The bitch looked away clearly not amused by my comment and eyed my father. Apparently it was just a summer fling. Oh well, I'll get over it.
The bitch carefully navigated around the holes and came face to face with my mum. It was like a mexican standoff. But I didn't want to put my family in any danger so I gathered all the willpower I had and stood up. I changed out of bat form because flying wasn't an option anymore. It hurt too much.
I waited until the bitch and my mum were locked in battle and jumped onto the bitch's back. She clearly didn't like that and tried to get me off. Whilst she tried to get me off my mum gave her a hard shove and made her fall to her side. I held onto her and made it so she couldn't move which was nearly impossible if it hadn't been for my vampire powers.
My mom also came to help and held her down. My dad hurried to our position and yelled ''Diffindo!'' there formed a great slash around the werewolf's neck but it wasn't just yet. She entered panic mode to try to survive. I got thrown off but my mum had better grip on her and managed to tame the beast.
Slowly she bled out and all life left her eyes. She finally drew her final breath and died. My first kill. Of course it wasn't directly my kill but I still killed her, I was involved. I stood up and headed to the hole where Mr. Werewolf was trapped in. When I went to take a look I saw it was empty.
Suddenly I was jumped by a huge figure. Mr. Werewolf placed all his weight on me and I couldn't move. I couldn't control my powers well yet. When I was young I broke the pavement, and have broken multiple mugs by just holding them but now, in the most critical of situations I was struggling to control it.
Whilst being under Mr. Werewolf he could smell his horrid breath. It's like Mr. Werewolf ate shit for a living. ''Ahh man eat a smint once in a while'' I advised the wolf whilst trying to get free. The wolf kind of half barked/growled at me in a mixture of confusion and anger. He of course didn't know what a smint was.
He certainly wasn't fresh to impress am I right? Mr. Werewolf looked at his now dead wife and looked back at me with fury. It seemed he planned to kill me very slowly ripping off limb by limb. Luckily he didn't have the chance to do that and my mum came to save me.
''Are you alright Anthony?'' She checked my person if I had any cuts or bites. ''No mum, I'm all good'' My mum sighed. I scrambled to my feet and decided it was time to end it once and for all.
''Dad! cast a Diffindo!'' My dad did what he was told and whilst Mr. Werewolf was busy trying to dodge the spell I immediately jumped him. With the help of my mother of course. I couldn't control the beast alone. Definitely when I only had a small percentage of my power when I was a bat but it was enough to capture the beast.
My dad hurried over and said the spell that would be the last thing Mr. Werewolf would hear ''Diffindo!'' The male Werewolf was relatively weaker than his female mate and almost immediately lost all its strength.
We had triumphed over the wolf with luck, but mostly teamwork. I was proud of this family, we were a good team. I hugged my dad and my mum and we all had this moment of peace and rest where we could only hear the scurrying of rodents in the trees.
The scare was over, for now.
