When I woke up I felt power surging through, I felt considerably stronger. It looked like Raiden had strengthened me. We had become more of an unit, our rune had grown stronger, and also larger.
I sat up right and didn't feel any pain at all, I checked for a scar on my chest but I couldn't feel anything. Raiden might have healed me but I wasn't sure.
One thing I was sure of is that I was hungry. I went downstairs and ate everything I could, which was a lot. Using a lot of magic made me hungry.
When I was done Lucifer also came downstairs, I ruffled his ears a bit and went outside to take a breath of fresh air. Outside my mum was reading a book, she gave me a smile when she saw me, but she had a concerned look on her face.
"Are you alright?" She asked me, I nodded, I also demonstrated my rejuvenated strength with a little dance of happiness and I hugged her. She smiled at me.
Because of my new strength I was also a bit more sensitive to magic. I could sense even more now, when I looked at my mum I could sense old spirit magic, but it had faded a long time ago.
"Were you contracted to a spirit." I asked her with a curious tone. She sighed and had a sad look on her face. She clearly wasn't in the mood to talk about it.
"You don't have to tell me if you wa-" My mum interrupted me by raising her hand. "No it's alright, you're allowed to know." She said reassuringly, with a maternal smile on her face.
She began her story, "When I was younger, Lycan taught me how to contract a spirit just like you, we became good friends and we were a great team." She took in a breath of air, she had a pained expression on her face, something really bad had happened, that was clear.
She continued, "I lost control once when I was feeding, I was really angry that they had hurt Celeste, we were quite close back then, like sisters." I looked at her but I was not convinced, they seem to despise each other.
My mum noticed my expression, "A lot has happened, that's a story for another day. But what I was saying that I had lost control, so much so that I devoured the spirit's power that I was bonded with."
"That's the reason that I still can use magic to some degree, but I'm definitely not as powerful as I used to be. But I'm not able to bond with any other spirit anymore, they fear me, because I killed another spirit."
This was a lot to take in, I was in real danger when I lost control when I was feeding. If Raiden was any less powerful, then I would've devoured him and wouldn't be able to bond with any other spirit anymore.
My mum took a sip of water, I waited politely for her to finish her story. After drinking the whole glass she continued her story.
"That's also why I didn't want you to go to that feeding house, I didn't want you to lose control and destroy that bond you have formed between you and your spirit. It's a bond that should be treasured."
I absorbed everything she told me, and it was a lot to take in. I really should be a lot more careful in the future, not jump into things head first, I have grown a lot but still many more gains are to be made.
My mum waved her hand in front of her face, "But that's enough for now, I also have a message for you from Lycan. At the moment he's stopping other spirits from taking over Soren's domain, but you need to come quickly, he's not the youngest anymore."
I nodded and ran towards the forest, this is what I've been waiting for, I can't wait to see how powerful Raiden becomes. I hope he won't be linked as much to his domain though.
I still need to figure that out, because I don't want to go to Hogwarts without him, that would mean that I was going in without a lot of my strength. And I couldn't afford that when I was sure to face something dark there.
When I arrived I saw Lycan fighting with Lux at his side, they seemed to be fighting several Advanced spirits at once. The Advanced spirits aimed to take over as much domain as they could to turn into Kingly spirits.
Raiden went out of my body and went into a human form. We ran alongside each other, his body was made from a big thunderstorm just like Soren.
But Raiden's body didn't seem complete, there were holes in some places and the storm didn't seem as fierce as Soren's body was.
Lycan seemed happy to see us, he was clearly tired of battling the greedy spirits. Raiden flew into the air, "Hold the other spirits off!" He yelled.
Lux and Lycan nodded, suddenly a storm formed above us. Raiden seemed to assimilate into the clouds and became one with them. Suddenly thunder forked everywhere.
Raiden had hit every Advanced spirit in the area and immediately made them disperse. The ones who were already weakened simply turned into pure Spirit energy. They had to start all over again forming enough energy to become a Basic spirit.
This was actually great for Raiden, this meant he could take some more domain from the surrounding Storm spirits. His cloud grew even more massive and with a flash it was done.
Raiden stood before me, his body was more defined now, even more defined that Soren was. In his left hand was a lightning bolt that made my hair static even though we were standing 2 meters apart.
He reached his fist out and I bumped fists with him. His strength was almost frightening. He smiled at me and I smiled back, it was almost like we could understand each other better.
Lux was also excited, "Awh, look at those young ones bond, doesn't it warm your heart, what about you Lycan?" Lycan had an indifferent expression on his face, he clearly wasn't that invested, but he was still happy, you could see the corners of his mouth slightly twitched.
I put my arm around Raiden's neck and we walked towards Lycan and Lux, "Congrats on officially becoming an advanced spirit! By the way, can you move your domain or is that not possible, I couldn't go to Hogwarts without you bro."
Raiden waved his hand, "No need to worry about that, I can easily move my domain. It's a storm domain after all, and there's a lot of places where I can have fun." I nodded, that made sense. I was happy that I was going to Hogwarts with at least one friend. I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be able to bring Lucifer.
Lux took Raiden's hands and started jumping around, "Now only to surpass a Kingly spirit and we can have fun all day!" They both laughed at Lux's words. Lux seemed lonely to me, and that was pretty logical, it's not like there are loads of other Godly spirits to hang around with.
I guess that Raiden had a domain now it was easier for him to leave my body without being threaded by other spirits. If I looked around I could see multiple spirits nearing our position.
But they were in no way threatening, they came to bring gifts to the newly ascended spirit, Raiden. Amalthea also came, she gave Raiden a fish and immediately asked for some booze.
He looked at me with a pleading expression, he really looked like he wanted to merge to escape the attention. I just shook my head, he needed to deal with much more if he turned into a Kingly or Godly spirit.
He might not be showing it, but he enjoyed the attention, I could feel it. He liked showing off and flexed his muscles at the spirits that came to watch.
He even copied Soren's trick and made a lightning bolt hit the forest somewhere, suddenly a spirit looked angrily at him, he must've hit that spirit's domain.
Raiden apologized and had a sheepish look on his face. He clearly had enough so we merged. It was a real lightshow. Thunder could be heard everywhere.
I was hit by a lightning bolt and we merged once more. But this time I flew a couple of meters into the air, I could actually hover a bit, it was an insane feeling. But our powers weren't aligned yet and my magic was almost drained instantly.
It was a lot harder to maintain the balance now that Raiden was so strong. I had to catch up to him and become strong too. I promised it on our bond.
The rune in my neck grew even larger, it even covered parts of my shoulder now. Raiden immediately said that he needed some rest and I stopped hovering.
The light that was emanating from the rune in my neck stopped. A wave of exhaustion washed over me, it was like I had carried over some of Raiden's exhaustion.
Maybe we could actually also share feelings now instead of our thoughts. But that was something we needed to figure out some other time.
It was time to head back, I desperately needed sleep. I bade farewell to Lux and walked back to the manor with Lycan. He also seemed tired, it had been a long day, as usual…
