As Laila and Noah had returned to the dining table, where she had been sitting not too long ago in order to have breakfast, Laila tried her best to act normal. Or what she thought would be normal behaviour for the Laila that she was just yesterday in this lifetime. As she shared some small talk with Noah, she tried to find out more about their lives together and about the man that was her husband. She knew a lot about Noah the friend but Noah the husband was practically a stranger to her. So, if she was to get into her part as his wife, she would need to know more about what had happened in the 10+ years that she had been apart from him.
Considering she hadn't seen any pictures of anyone other than the two of them and their friends and family, she was certain that the child that was currently in her womb, was their first child. She was certain that the two rings on her fingers meant they were married and not just engaged, the pictures of her in a white dress also confirmed that thought. The date, which was engraved inside the ring, was the date of their first date. The day that she had returned to in order to change her fate and the day that they had become a couple. She saw that they had gotten married just one year after that first date, which means that she was married to Noah in this lifetime for the same number of years as she had been married to Jake in her previous life.
Considering it had been just a few hours since she had gotten here, she felt that she had discovered quite a lot already. She was curious however why she and Noah had been in such a hurry to get married. With Jake she had gotten married so quickly because she had been pregnant. Did she have the same reason with Noah? And, more importantly, did that pregnancy end prematurely as well? It would explain why they were only now having their first child even though they had been married for so long. She certainly had plenty of questions and much to uncover but first, she needed to find out if she had made something of herself in this lifetime. And if so, what?
"Oh how I would love to make myself busy again. Sitting around and being pregnant can get so tiring." After saying these words, Laila glanced over at Noah, who was busier with watching her eat with a gentle smile on his face than actually eating himself. But it appeared that Noah was in some kind of daze and hadn't actually heard the question hidden in her words. So, as she stirred round and round in her second bowl of soup of the day, she scraped her throat and took another attempt at finding out if she had any kind of job or career.
From the corner of her eye she looked at his direction and approached the subject once more. This time she didn't hide the question but asked one straight out. "Noah, what do you think I should do about my current boredom? I can't possibly spend my days sitting at home all day, right?" Hearing his name was apparently what Noah needed to snap out of his lovestruck daze. "Hmm. Sorry, what did you say?" Laila let out a soft sigh as she made her third and hopefully final attempt at finding out if she had a job or if she was just a socialite with hobbies.
As nonchalantly as possible Noah answered her questions as if she had asked it a hundred times before. "Oh, that. Well you can do whatever you want to do dear. I would be fine with you being a stay-at-home mom but you always reject that idea. So, if your morning sickness has calmed down and you are ready to go back to work, I won't hold you back. You are best in judging what you can handle. If you were thinking more about picking up a hobby, that is fine as well of course. You always said you wanted to make your own designs. This time would be perfect to do something with that since you are home on doctor's orders anyways."
Laila's heart began to race again. She never started her clothing business in this lifetime? Was this because she never dropped out of college because of a pregnancy? When she first found out she had gotten pregnant, she planned on returning to college after her baby was born but her plans changed after she lost the baby. She lost any will to live, let alone have the desire to go back to college. After climbing out of that deep and dark mental hole, her perspective on life had changed and she decided to work on her dreams. She started her fashion line and she never looked back at things like college. But this could be one of the changes in her fate caused by the different timeline she was living in. She had gotten a second chance to make her dreams come true with all the knowledge and experience of realizing them a first time.
