Laila was in the middle of her first actual kiss with Noah. At least the first one in her memories. Her hands were holding a tight grip on the sleeves of Noah's suit as he was making her light in the head with his breath taking kiss. In Laila's mind it felt like minutes had passed since the start of their kiss while it also felt like time was standing still. Though probably only seconds had passed, they were the longest seconds she had ever experienced. She didn't think that Noah would kiss her this passionately but now that he had, she didn't know what to feel or do about it.
Just when she thought she could take no more, Noah released his lock on her lips and teasingly said, "That should get me through a few hours of work." Just like that he let go of her. With flushed cheeks and widened eyes Laila stared at the man in front of her and worked hard to catch her breath as Noah had a big smirk on his face. He placed a quick peck on the tip of her nose before he let her go and headed upstairs to get his work started.
When Noah disappeared through the doors and was no longer in sight, Laila let her body drop to one of the chairs of the dining table. She tried to catch her breath and used her hand to fan her face as she said, "That man is going to be the death of me before I can uncover how we got here in the first place. It is a miracle that I don't have a small army of children running around here. One for each year of being married to Noah. With his kissing skills, what he does in the bedroom can't be much worse."
After letting out another deep sigh she continued, "Geez, that was something! One of these days those kisses of his are going to steal my breath away for real. How did he think that his presence would be beneficial to my health when he is working so hard to steal the very energy he allowed me to ingest with that lunch?! Did he look at that bit of soup as my final meal? Laying such mind numbing kisses on me like that?"
After she finished venting some frustrations that she only half meant, Laila refound the strength in her legs and went to do what she had set out to do before Noah gave her a surprise visit. She went out to explore the outside of the house. When she stepped out into the backyard her eyes immediately fell on the large bed of flowers surrounding a large fountain. She had caught a glimpse of it when she was upstairs but being in the middle of the flowers, she noticed what she hadn't back when she had glanced at them from the window. Because not only were the planted flowers in her favourite colours, they each had a meaning related to love and the different stages of romance. It was like her own personal daily love declaration in the form of flowers. A love letter in the brightest colours one could imagine.
In her previous life she had tended to her own flower garden in the house she and Jake shared. In order to pick the right flowers and make sure she was taking proper care of them, she had looked more into the types of flowers there are and studied some botanical books. In those books she had also learned about the meaning of different flowers in the special flower language. As she looked around, she saw a row of purple lilacs, which represent the beginning of love or a first love. It was followed by a mixed row of bright red camellias, which translate to "You're the flame in my heart", pink camellias symbolizing longing and finally a few white ones that say "You're adorable".
Laila couldn't believe that Noah had managed to grow Camellias here and three different kinds at that. Camellias are very fragile and tricky to grow. She certainly hadn't been successful in her previous life. But then again, maybe that had been a sign from the universe that she simply didn't pick up on as these were growing beautifully and Noah certainly had never been one to have green fingers.
But it didn't stop there. In the corner she saw a batch of primrose flowers, which means "I can't live without you" or "Our love is eternal", making it one of the most romantic flowers that are out there. In her mind she added "and one of the most overlooked", much like she had overlooked Noah for the longest of times. It had been matched with Red chrysanthemums, which simply translate to "I love you" In the other corner she saw the classic stock flower, which in the flower language means "You'll always be beautiful to me"
Laila continued to walk around and each flower her eyes landed on, made her feel more touched than the other. How could she have ever chosen Jake over someone like Noah? A person who can't do anything but treasure her. Who worships the very ground she walks on and who wants nothing more than her love and company.
Just when she thought the garden couldn't get any better and thought that Noah had used every flower in the book to express his love for her, she saw that also created a small flower field at the side of the house. The side where the other window in their bedroom looked out on. There she saw that he had planted a long row of sunflowers. Sunflowers might not come to mind as a romantic flower but it represents longevity, adoration, and pure love! How much more wonderful words could he have used to describe the love that was between them?
That was when she noticed what was hanging from the fence. On the railings of the fence he had put up a couple of planters and there he had grown the finishing touch. The well known forget-me-nots. No love confession can be complete without these flowers as it not only means "Forget me not" it also means "true love" and seeing this, Laila too became convinced that Noah was exactly that. Her true love. The one that defies all ages, timelines and one that she had been too blind to see for the longest time. Now that she had been given a another chance, she would certainly make up for all that she had failed to see and do before because she wasn't planning on giving him up a second time!
