Dreamland

As Laila and Noah were heading home, Laila suddenly remembered something she had forgotten to tell Noah. "Honey, remember our little setup for Jake? Well Maria and I had to stay the night at a hotel to catch him in the act. Since it was quite an expensive hotel and since it was my ex that we were spying on, I offered to pay for the room. I figured I should tell you since it is quite a big expense and I don't want you getting the wrong idea about the charge of a two-person room at the same hotel as where Jake was staying. I know you trust me but I felt that this was something you should know before you find out through the statements of the credit card company."

Noah looked a bit surprised before pulling Laila closer to him with a chuckle. "Don't worry, I have complete trust in you but thanks for telling me in advance. Was the spy mission any fun?" Laila's eyes sparkled as she said, "Incredibly fun. The adrenaline rush, the sneaking around and the thrill of catching him in the act. I think I missed out on a career path in espionage by pursuing fashion. But should that not work out then spy school here I come!" Laila raised her fist in the air as she made that last statement. After which both she and Noah laughed out loud from the idea.

When they arrived back at the mansion where they lived, Laila was ready to get inside as soon as possible and getting some well needed sleep. She had wanted to sleep some more during the car ride but ended up talking to Noah all the way. Laila stepped out, told Noah "I'll leave the bags to you dear. I really have to lie down and get some sleep before I fall over." and closed the car door behind her. But before she was able to take three steps towards the house, Noah called out "Wait!" Laila turned around with a look of bewilderment. Noah rushed over to her and grabbed her arm before he said, "Don't go in just yet. Wait just one second."

Without explaining a single thing Noah opened the trunk of the car and grabbed Laila's suitcase and his own bag before rushing inside. Completely forgetting about the driver, who stood by his car door looking perplexed as to why his employer had chosen to take the bags inside himself in such a hurry instead of waiting for him to do it. Laila looked equally confused just a few feet away from him wondering 'Why couldn't she go inside? What was Noah hiding in there that she couldn't see?'

No sooner had he left than Noah came back outside and grabbed Laila's hand. With a big, secretive smile on his face he told Laila, "Come. Let's go inside". Again he walked towards the house without explaining his actions from before or his secrecy now to Laila. Any questions Laila asked were answered with another answer clouded in mystery. Once they were inside and Noah had guided her up the stairs to a room adjoining the nursery they had built for their unborn son. When he opened the door with a "Ta da!" Laila could finally see what it was all about. In the middle of the room stood a large white recliner.

Though this big reveal was supposed to answer all of Laila's questions, and in a way it did, it also made her have new ones. Laila turned to Noah and asked, "What am I looking at exactly. What is a single chair doing in this room?" In an excited voice Noah began explaining. "Well it isn't just a chair, it is the same seat as your outward flight. Well not an actual airplane seat but a replica. It has never been in an actual airplane but since you considered the seats so comfortable I contacted the manufacturer of those seats and had them make one custom for you. Now you can take naps here when you have trouble sleeping on the sofa or our bed because of your pregnancy. Or you can feed the baby during the nightly feedings once he is here. I connected this room to the nursery, so it is ready when you need it." Proudly he added, "You said you wanted one and I made it happen!"

Then he pulled her towards the chair as he said, "You said you wanted to take a nap, so why don't you try it out." When Laila looked closer she saw that the chair was indeed identical to the one she had used during her flight to Maria. When she ran her hand over the back of the chair she noticed that even the materials were the same. A bit hesitantly Laila sat down, trying to process what silly thing her husband had done now out of his enormous love for her. When she leaned back, Noah grabbed the small lever on the side and pulled it for the chair to lower itself into a bed. Though Laila was a bit startled by the sudden movement, Noah didn't even notice as he was still excitedly telling her about the extra features he had built in just for her. "You see, it isn't just a normal chair. Right now it is on the brakes but if you pull this second handle, it will become a rocking chair. Isn't that great?!" Laila chuckled and stroked Noah's arm to make him look at her before she said, "It is wonderful. Thank you. This was just what I needed. Why don't you go grab me a blanket from our room so that I can test it out right now while you bring the bags upstairs."

Noah happily agreed but before he was able to return with the blanket, Laila had already succumbed to the comfort of the chair and was counting Z's well into dreamland.
