Entangled

Laila and Noah were still lying snug against one another underneath the single plaid blanket. Laila had by now become committed to her lie and as she drew circles on Noah's chest with her finger she mumbled, "What do you mean more honest? I am always honest with myself." In an even softer voice she said, "Just not always with you."

Noah was fully amused by Laila's denial and chuckled once more before he said, "I mean you claiming your body acted on its own. You have one dangerous body if it does all of that on its own. But even if you are being all awkward like this after all these years and use those silly lies to hide your embarrassment, I still love you. So, you can tell yourself any lie you want as long as you remember that one truth."

After saying that he placed a kiss on her head while Laila got ready to deny his accusations but as soon as she lifted her head to say something back in her defence, Noah's face had already gotten too close and he stopped her with a soft kiss. When he let go and looked at her, as his body was leaning over Laila's, he gently touched the side of her face and brushed some of her displaced hairs behind her ears. Laila's eyes didn't meet his yet and instead were looking down as she mumbled a few angry words with flushed cheeks. Saying, "Hey, what did you do that for." With each word that followed, Laila's eyes slowly looked back up. "Don't think you can stop me from talking every time by doing something like tha-"

When Laila finally saw the way Noah was looking at her and the look in his eyes, her words stopped mid sentence and her eyes widened for a short moment before she started closing them up again slowly. This was when Noah's face inched closer to hers and she found herself kissing him once more before their bodies ended up entangled in one another for the second time that night.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning Laila woke up in the large bed that she had seen in the master bedroom when she came to find Noah after her tour around the cottage. She didn't remember going upstairs and assumed that Noah had been the one to carry her here after she had fallen asleep by the fireplace. She looked to her side and saw that Noah's side of the bed was empty. She sat up on the bed and looked around the room but there was no sign of him. Slowly she attempted to get out of the bed and noticed that she was still not wearing anything except for the blanket they had covered themselves with yesterday.
Laila glanced around the room for a second time and noticed her clothes from yesterday neatly folded on top of the broadened windowsill. The curtains weren't drawn but with the mountains being the only thing with a view of the window, Noah must have thought that she would be safe picking up the clothes from there.
With the blanket folded tightly around her body like a towel, Laila made her way over to the window and she was greeted by what had to be the most stunning view she had seen in a long time. The sky was incredibly clear and the sun was shining bright, making the water from the lake and the snow on top of the mountains shimmer like diamonds. Birds were chirping and she could see squirrels and other small rodents scurry across the grass and into the trees. If she didn't know any better, she would have thought that she had stepped into a scene of Snow White or The sound of music.
After staring at the view for a moment, Laila grabbed her clothes, a clean pair of underwear and headed into the bathroom to get dressed and ready for the day. After she was done putting on her clothes and she had washed her face and brushed her hair, Laila headed downstairs to find the husband that seemed to have left her without a trace. But even after heading into the living room and the kitchen, Noah was nowhere to be found.
As she looked in each room for him and peered out of the windows in hopes of spotting Noah, she started talking to herself. "Where could that man have gone without leaving so much as a note or message. I should really give him an earful when he returns. I can't have him disappearing without a word and leaving me worried like this. Me having one child is enough to handle for now without him adding to that challenge." When she was about to grumble another complaint about him, she heard a key enter the lock and the man in question finally appeared. But before Laila could ask him where he had gone off to, she was overtaken by the wonderful smell of what was about to be her and Noah's breakfast.
