Screwing them twice

Although it is true that a regular lawyer is not allowed to try a criminal case as the public prosecutor, he had a different way of getting the things he wanted. Joe was friends with a lot of judges and public prosecutors, which gave him some benefits that not all lawyers have. Although his connections didn't necessary land him the position as Noah and Steve's formal prosecutor, as that would be fully illegal, it did allow him to visit a grey area. He was allowed to be third chair for the trial and used that position to at least get his D.A. friends to bring on the charges he wanted to see them punished for. He would also help them put together the case, prepare the evidence that they would need, and whatever else he could think of that might be useful for them to get Harold and his underlings convicted.

When Noah heard this he said, "Well just when I ask myself why I continue to keep an annoying person like you in my life, you go and do something like this. You have a strange way about you but you make it work. It is awesome what you have managed to arrange and I hope that your partnership will make it that much harder for Harold, or any other person involved, to get away with anything. Even their smallest actions I want to see punished if possible."

Joe nodded and said smug tone, "This old dog is far from teaching you his tricks. I have plenty up my sleeve but there is no need to let a kid like you, who is still wet behind the ears, to see all that I have got. But I'll be sure to pull out whatever I need to help you with this case. If we aren't happy enough with the results, we can always make them bleed more money with a civil case. Nothing forbids us from screwing them twice."

Despite the serious nature of their conversation, Laila couldn't help but feel amused by the way this conversation was taking place. The way Joe and Noah were speaking to one another was entertaining in a way that no television show or movie could match. Aside from that, the mere idea of Noah finding all the people closest to him annoying, questioning why he still keeps them around, his anger boiling to a point of wanting to cut them out of his life, only for them to surprise him by doing something good, was in itself amusing enough to get a chuckle out of Laila. Because not only had he said these words to Joe, Steve was told similar things on the daily, despite being Noah's closest friend.

Once Joe was done explaining his steps, Noah told him about what he had managed to discover and what information he was still waiting for. He told him about everyone having been found and rounded up, told him about Harold being transferred as well and he updated Joe about what the bodyguard had managed to get out of the henchman he was responsible for.

"He not only managed to tell me about the level of involvement Olivia had in this mess, he also managed to discover the location of all the documents on his shady business. This will surely help seal this case even more. I have sent two of my people over to the location that the bodyguard gave me. They will be bringing it all back to I.E. where you can go through them and see what will be useful for you. I will ask Max to assist you in going through the papers. Perhaps you can have one of your district attorney friend accompany you in going over the evidence in order to have a witness ensuring you didn't tamper with the evidence. Or a cop buddy. The same way we handled the dismantling of the bomb in my car and looking for evidence there."

Joe showed his agreement with a wordless sound before he said, "I will contact my friends now. If your people haven't arrived at the scene yet, it would be best if they wait before entering the place until I get someone to assist them over there. That way the entire process will be secured. You never know what kind of whack jobs Harold might have watching that place. If you aren't sure if you can trust the local law enforcement over at the place where this warehouse or whatnot might be, you can ask your team to do a live stream to the office as an insurance of their safety. Maybe we can have your bodyguard duo go over there and help as well. This is not the moment to be taking unnecessary extra risks. By now we know how far that crazy b*st*rd is willing to go."
