Chapter 46: Nen Rundown

~Third POV~

All the participants in the hunter exam that were now official hunters all entered the airship following Netero as the other applicants only had despair-filled expressions as they were now forced to leave with the humiliation of not knowing how to cook.

Leorio was depressed at the news but will try again for those in the future that he wants to become a doctor to help everyone for free in the future. Killua being himself just sighed at the loss with his chance of getting a hunter license but soon didn't care because of his natural enforced personality of giving up too easily.

Gon on the other hand just stood there shook at the whole set of events happening before him. He was supposed to have passed the hunter exam, he was supposed to follow after his father, and he was supposed to track him as well as follow his example of becoming a hunter at a young age.

But now he just stood there confused and lost as to what to do next…

Leorio the friend of Gon sighed in worry as he tapped him on his shoulder as Gon stood there still in shock as he replied to him, "Gon… don't worry you have next time to do the exam. Come on let's go congratulate Kurapika before we go. Come on little buddy."

Gon for his part only nodded his head as to congratulate Kurapika as Killua follows after them till they part ways on their airship back to Zaban City.

Jason on his end just observed the whole scene with Hisoka with signs of the intrigue of what they were witnessing.

Hisoka on his part frown but glances at Jason as he thought to himself in a playful tone, 'Sigh… here I thought I would play with Gon once he ripens, I guess I have to wait for him. Him, however, messing with everyone to ensure his goals with his talent and potential might just be worth the loss of a seedling. Gon own talent and potential pales to him~'

Jason for his part is honestly surprised that there was no lot of armor in the area then that meant one thing as his thoughts scrunched up a bit, 'Damn… if plot armor doesn't exist doesn't that mean the worlds with other characters would have different power scaling then? Like when Crocodile from One Piece fought Whitebeard does that mean that version has Haki with his experience?'

Once Jason has begun that train of thought he recalls how AFO reacted to him as it made much more sense than the original version, 'And that fight with AFO controlling Nines' in MHA world at the time seemed that he was more thoughtful to his actions as well as extremely prepared for my capture as well… is it possible that the power and experience for long-lasting characters would change how they act from their media counterparts making them smarter with their actions to a degree?'

Shaking his head, a bit Jason couldn't come up with that answer at the time since he's still too green to be traveling to make any actual confirmation at least not now.

Netero then began to speak to the other 4 applicants that have passed the exam with a cheeky grin as he says to them, "Come here already you brats! We have to go get you graduated from this exam with your license!"

All the four then began to go towards the chairmen as well as the other hunters as the disqualified applicants were sent home…

~Jason POV~

Ok, that was certainly something never I would've expected that plot doesn't exist here but then again this is more on the lines of reality honestly.

That was when I heard Alter Ego speak through me as she spoke just as surprised as I was as she spoke, 'Sir I actually would've thought this so-called plot armor existed by your test but… I didn't expect it to not activate at all. Nor did Gon, and Leorio won't pass I expected Netero to make them redo it with your interference but instead only 4 people made it.'

Agreeing with Alter Ego I responded with an equal tone to her just seeing and testing the whole scene also left me stumped as well, 'Well shit. I didn't expect to see my experiment to be screwed over like this and along with my knowledge of the plot of the Hunter X Hunter world along with it.'

Alter Ego nodded her head inside my bracelet as it turned off as I was currently eating a mountain full of food right next to Kurapika simply eating, Hisoka on another table playing cards, and the assassin merely standing doing nothing.

This is so awkward as hell…

Before I could continue eating, was when Kurapika began to speak to me as we eat surprising me as I thought he hates me for screwing over his friends, "Well then applicant 403 was there a reason for you to tamper with the second phase making the others disqualify like that? I won't bear a grudge unless it's justifiable of course or else…"

Yeah, yeah you god damn emo red-eyed Sharingan avenger I get the unspoken meaning enough because you're pissed but keeping your cool at the same time.

Beginning to explain to him as I enjoy my meal in the progress while I speak in a neutral tone while having my hand hold my chin, "Simple. I did it so that I can earn myself the Hunter License as well as make sure I have the best odds of winning to become a hunter. There was no rule stating to sabotage them in the second phase, so I didn't break any rules."

Kurapika seems to not like that answer but I continued in talking as I ate my food, "Still though I merely did it to get the license but in return, I have accidentally saved those guys' lives. In the Hunter Exam like this, they could've lost their lives in the next phase who's to say my actions were just or not in the end?"

Looks like that shut Kurapika up as he thought about it more carefully as he finally responded to me in a neutral tone, "Hmm… that is true, and I do care for my friends so maybe it was best they failed. They were too tired to listen to me searching for fish and Gon helping others that they lost the track of time. At least I won't have to worry much about them as a hunter now shames for Gon though… I wish him the best of luck for the next time."

Yeah, the next time he might be better for the encounter with the second exam and looking for his bastard of a father. Although I don't know much about Gin it's best to stay away from that guy for the time being.

With that, I started to rethink all the stuff needed for Nen in the future along with some steps that go for each technique.

Remembering my knowledge of the Nen principles should be as follows from the Four Major Principles are Ten, Zetsu, Ren, and Hatsu. These four techniques are used for every experienced Nen user they even use Ten in their sleep.

Ten (Enveloped/Shrouds) is the process of keeping the aura nodes open but also having aura flow through and around the body rather than away from it.

Once maintained, it creates a shroud around the user that feels similar to standing in a lukewarm, viscous fluid aura.

The most basic defense for Ten is against emotional Nen attacks, and it also offers limited protection against physical attacks, but hardly any when said attacks are enhanced with aura.

Another good tip to learn is that once you learn Ten the technique will never go away from your memory ever so it should come to me in handy.

Zetsu (Suppress/Null) allows the Nen user to halt all the outflow of aurae like a turn-off switch which in turn makes the Nen user presence much harder or even impossible to sense unless there is another Nen user to view me. There is a weakness to Zetsu however since I need to suppress my aura it offers the Nen user body defenseless against any aura attack.

Even a weak attack enhanced with Nen could do massive damage but if it's in other words would they even harm me if I envelope myself in Nen?

Since even the thin protection offered by Ten is gone, a Zetsu user is particularly susceptible also to hostile emotional attacks, resulting in their mind becoming as vulnerable as their body.

Hehehe…

Then that means people that are not Nen users will be left defenseless against me if they can't even come near me or possibly even have a strong will to handle the Nen pressure.

Ren (Refine/Enhance) focuses on outputting a larger amount of aura than Ten, projecting it outwards explosively. One can even say this is the opposite of Ten, this technique amplifies the user's physical strength and durability and provides a large pool of aura for any advanced techniques or individual skills they decide to use but at the cost of aura.

Another thing to know about Ren can allow the Nen user to project their hostility attentions towards others like say bloodlust prolonged emission of malicious Ren can induce uncontrollable dread in those who cannot use Nen, paralysis and if contrasted without Ten, even death.

I wonder how my enemies will overcome this power with them having no way to defend against this power.

And the last one of the Four Major Principles is called Hatsu (Release/Act) is one's expression of Nen its qualities are influenced by but not restricted to the Nen user's natural Nen category, one of the six available, some people call it a Special Move or Nen Ability.

But a quick refresher of the advanced forms will be handy as well.

Gyo (Focus) is an advanced application of Ren by which a Nen user concentrates a larger than normal portion of their aura into one specific body part but it increases the strength of that one body part but leaves the rest of the body more vulnerable.

In (Conceal) should be an advanced form of Zetsu used to render one's aura imperceptible, effectively concealing it, however, unlike Zetsu, In doesn't stop the user's aura flow; instead, it hides it, making it impossible to perceive with any of the five senses or extra sensorial perception.

En (Circle) an advanced application of Ten and Ren using Ren, aura usually envelops only a small amount of space around the user's body.

En is when one extends their Ren so that their aura extends further than normal, then uses Ten at the same time to contain and give shape to that aura, normally a sphere but in my case, however…

Seeing that my aura is abnormal like I have that Ki aura from dragon ball all over and the abundance amount covering this room is certainly odd to normal people.

But disregarding this aura for now where I in a fresh course of my Nen was?

Shu (Enfold) an advanced application of Ten, Shu allows a user of Nen to enshroud an object with their aura, allowing them to use that object as an extension of their own body.

Ko (Temper) is a combination of Ten, Zetsu, Hatsu, Ren, and Gyo in which all of the user's aura is concentrated into one particular body part.

Ken (Fortify) is the advanced version of the basic Ren and Ten techniques it's a primarily defensive technique where a Nen user maintains a state of Ren for a prolonged amount of time. The amount of aura surrounding the user's body during Ken is about 10 times higher than during Ten.

Ken allows a Nen user to guard against attacks from any direction, but a large amount of aura produced makes it tiring to maintain.

It is considered the best option to defend from Ko, despite not being as powerful as the latter on any given part of the body, as it protects all of it evenly.

Finally, on to the last step Ryu (Flow) the term for use of Gyo from a state of Ken to perform real-time offensive and defensive value adjustments.

Like for example If Ko devolves 100% of one's aura to offense or, much more rarely, to defense, and Ken splits it evenly between the two, Ryu is redistributing one's aura according to any other percentage when Ryu is utilized to damage a Ken user without leaving oneself as unprotected as during Ko, although the power of the technique is lower because of it.

Hmm…

Yeah, that should be all the important subjects related to Nen but I still haven't figured out my Nen ability is yet?

*Swoosh*

With that, I quickly excused myself from the three people as I began to towards the bathroom seeing that there is no cameras I went over to the restroom I made sure to create using the quirk to create a leaf and cup as I fill it with water as I began to use the water divination as aura began to flow towards the cup…

I saw the result I got for my Nen category was… something I didn't expect…
