Chapter 89: Consequences

What!!

Clearing my eyes a bit as I go towards the source I see that the people left the area as some doctors are seeing the demon and the lover of the Demon Gowther Glariza as I looked on with wide eyes.

What is someone like her doing here?

Shaking my head I see that her wounds are recovering a bit as the doctors are making sure she's fine as they left assured when they left food for her leaving her confused.

I see she's experiencing what human kindness is about since these people went out of their way to help her out.

That's a very big problem for the people if the Goddess Clan finds out about this, they will destroy this place to the ground.

But seeing that Glariza is here then she can help fill me in about the state of Gowther's condition at this time.

There was a point in time when Merlin was trained by the original demon Gowther along with her father but there was the vast majority of the time when he was inside the demon prison for the fact he won't fight in the Holy War.

I can agree with the man if he was forced to fight then I would want the choice to do it and not be forced into it.

*Thud*

Once the doctors left the room I came inside while still hiding my presence as I got near her or close enough to the door as I ponder her actions.

She looked confused and reluctant to eat but did so. She could've done so by eating their souls, but it looks like possibly Gowther's influence or her own won't allow her to act on her instincts or know it's wrong to attack their saviors.

I could disclose myself to get more information, but I didn't as I don't want to reveal myself soon but the idea of getting a favor from her and that in turn to Gowther is good. But sadly, enough though it's not worth the risk.

The plain reason is because of Gowther's power mind magic to look inside my mind since I consider my meta knowledge a priority I can't exactly meet the demon myself or else I would have to deal with a whole new problem.

: A power that allows Gowther to entrap his opponents within their memories. It also grants him the ability to read the thoughts and memories of others.

That is the main reason why I didn't let her see me but also because of the commandment's nature and their bullshit ability that is another reason why I'm not actively searching for the Ten Commandments in particular.

A Commandment is a "cursed" Magical Power created by the Demon King over 3,000 years ago and bestowed upon ten different elite warriors of the Demons.

There are ten in total and each has a unique curse of absolute power bestowed upon anyone who breaks its rule, even upon the holder himself/herself.

The Commandments are a set of ten decrees that were created by the Demon King when he took half of his power and split that into ten fragments to create the Ten Commandments, who derive their group name from their powers.

Each Commandment has a specific rule that, if broken, will place a specific curse on the victim(s) depending on what the Commandment itself is centered around. The power of the Commandments is absolute and affects anyone who breaks its rule, even the wielder itself.

However, anyone who has a Commandment is immune to all others except their own, as a way of ensuring the wielder's loyalty to the Demon King.

Those who were given a Grace or a divine blessing by the Supreme Deity are also immune to the Commandments' effects as well.

The curse can only be broken if the victim defeats the wielder of that decree or at their death. The Commandments can be removed from their wielder using a special spell, but only if they give their consent, otherwise they must be left powerless or simply dead where the Commandment can simply be removed from the wielder's corpse.

Absorbing a Commandment turns any member of another race into a demon, but should a goddess absorb a Commandment, it will rot away at their soul due to their nature opposing that of the Demons.

Mael, the only goddess to receive a Commandment, was bestowed one after his memories were altered by Gowther and his doll so it's unknown if the same effect applies if he had his real memories intact.

Moreover, if anyone, demon or not, tries to take in more than one Commandment, it would destroy them also, it is later revealed that absorbing all the Commandments means becoming the new vessel of the Demon King, this being the true reason why he created them.

After absorbing all the Commandments, the vessel can change, as Meliodas and Zeldris' appearance physically ages into an adult.

The Demon King stated that the Commandments can feed directly to him information of the holders, to keep an eye on them, as to prevent any rebellion attempt against the Demon King.

Talk about overprotective much but I'm not going to argue with the guy keeping his power in check as well as keeping in tabs of their power in case of rebelling.

But if I were in his place, I would've done things differently, but the point stands as I can't interact with Gowther the demon one with his ability. Plus, the chance of the demon king seeing me is bad enough.

Unless I can cleanse the will behind the commandments it's useless to get their power unless I have something to get rid of the influence or I can somehow get him to look into my head giving him free access.

Hearing a loud explosion followed by the shaking coming from the ground I booked it to see what was happening as the village was under attack from light-based attacks…

I was wondering when those white-winged demons would appear soon if the actual one is here judging from their rage-filled faces except for their leader.

Hearing from a loud voice letting the people hear what's going on making them frighten as I saw a pink-haired woman was glaring down at the humans as she spoke out, "Humans! From feeling the magic power from inside this village you have been found harboring a demon!! That is heresy of the Goddess Clan that has been taking care of you all!!"

Grimacing at the implications this will not end well for the villagers living in this place. These fools are going to level the place to the ground just for saving one demon's life.

Who the people save shouldn't matter to them but even, so they won't listen to rationality only destroy their arch enemies as they have nothing to do with us but is ready to burn them to the ground.

While I haven't known these people for long though I'm not the kind of guy to let genocide happen in front of me.

Time to teach these overside white-winged demons a lesson to the afterlife.

While I started to equip myself into my also starting to use Asura into his sword form as the pink-haired angel began to charge her along with the others following by example, "All of you sinners would pay dearly for defying the Goddess Clan might for even harboring the demon from their rightful execution!! Now then Goddess – "

In split second multiple blades of Asura natural ability of : A special technique using Asuramaru that materializes dozens of floating swords roughly in the shape of a fan above the human generating them. Able to levitate around who has summoned them, the blades can be individually or all at once directed to fire into enemies.

But with Asura borrowing my quirk to quickly make the swords fly past at faster speeds all managed to pierce the Goddess Clan angels as that hole size marks acted like they were shot as they all had their blood and body parts being destroyed surprising everyone where the attack came from.

The pink-haired angel coughed out blood seeing the sudden sneak attack as they were caught off guard as I revealed myself using while Asura started to use his to hide my appearance as I make an entrance looking like a mysterious person.

The Goddess Clan members only glared at me as they all soon realized what power I was using as they spoke out surprised, "You damn demon! You are using one of those humans as your host to hide from us!! Truly despicable the filth of your race is!! Quick use your to heal yourself, brothers and sisters!"

Seeing them start to use I smirked as Asura responded outside to them hearing my sword speak, "Foolish angels do you think that I would allow you to heal?"

Once the words or sound in this case fell from Asura the angels of the Goddess Clan noticed that their aren't healing them anymore as they saw in disbelief what happened, "What! How could you – "

I would expect these angels would have some kind of reaction timing when they were about to strike like that it's disappointing honestly of how fast they lost as multiple invisible blades attacked at fast speeds that not even them could dodge.

is another one of Asura's natural abilities as the sheathe alone materializes, then invisible swords appear and strike from all angles at the target with incredible speed.

But adding it with the quirk made them faster and even deadlier as the angels didn't notice that they were all turned into piles of meat flesh from the amount of power it was used.

Although the reactions from the people, however, seem to think differently than I do…

The people, however, didn't seem to take my actions very likely as they are now all screaming around the place as they fear what would happen as the people soon started to blame me for the angel's deaths, "What have you done mister!! Don't you know what you just did right here you killed the members of the Goddess Clan!! They will come here targeting us because of the actions you are a fucking bastard!! What will happen when they come for revenge will you protect us you fucker!!! NO FUCKING SCRAM!!!"

Aiba then responded to me in an unsure tone as she spoke with some concern, 'Sir? Are you sure that you shouldn't – '

Cutting Aiba off as I responded as I began to walk away from the town as I responded in a neutral tone while I responded avoiding stones being thrown at me, 'No Aiba… no matter what I say now the people will treat me as a threat here. I didn't think my inactions of taking the angel's life would be this… drastic…'

Aiba didn't respond at that as I already knew the answer as I can feel that what I did was wrong to them while I know I'm right. But the people here would rather blame someone than realize the truth I guess I'm still too green for me.

I didn't think that killing the angels would make the village turn on me is it because of their faith that allowed them to be blind?

Or is it because they might get targeted with me helping them like that?

Sigh…

I should take this as a sign that my actions can result in different things happening that are outside my control, but I won't let this stop me from knowing what's right but…

Asura then responded to me as I let the katana sword down on the corpses as he spoke to using the quirk get ridding the evidence, 'Sir I reequipped to the quirk. At least take out the possibility that angels were killed at least this way they won't get a high chance of being targeted by our actions.'

Nodding at that I destroyed the evidence as the people even got angrier at me for getting rid of them, I fail to see how they won't see that I'm protecting them from future harm getting rid of possible attacks.

With that, I left the village as they say curses at me while I kept my path towards the Lake Sailsbury as my identity was kept safe but learned some lessons again.

Sometimes my actions can cause unrelated consequences, and this is one of them that I have to bear.
