On the way towards the valley of the storms, the two of them chatted a bit.
"So, Ares, what profession are you? you never told me." Argon asked as he looked towards him.
"You never asked. I am a mage like yourself, except I do not specialize in water like you." Ares said casually.
"What element then?" If you don't mind me asking,
"That is a secret for now. You will find out soon enough. You wouldn't believe me now anyway so..." Ares said with a shrug.
"Fine. Keep your secrets. LOL"
The two continued chatting about random stuff for another 30 minutes. When they got closer to the valley, Ares started closing his eyes from time to time to see if he could start sensing the lightning energy. Up until now, he had not been able to. Thus, they continued onwards. When they were about 2 miles out from the valley, Ares was finally able to sense some. However, he pushed forward so there was more in the air as the volume at this spot was too low. Once there was enough in the air for him he asked Argon to stop so he could rest a bit. Of course this was just an excuse to hide his real purpose, to cultivate. Argon agreed and they stopped. Ares sat down and started cultivating immediately. The lightning was drawn into his body and spread throughout once again refining every part of him. 10 minutes later, he heard the system notification. +1 INT, +1 AGI, and +2 WIS. His magic attack was now at an even 100, his agility at 10, mana at 190, and combat power going up to 280.
With that done, Ares stood up. He also sensed water energy, but he decided not to cultivate it right now as he did not want to waste Argon's time. They continued on their journey. They have not ran into any beasts yet and they both thought it a bit weird. However, they just placed it out of mind and continued. 20 minutes later, they finally came across their first group of beasts. They were level 3 goblins. They were short standing at just over 3 feet. They had dark green skin, small, yellow eyes, long pointed ears, and wore dirty rags for clothes. It looked like they were a small hunting party with 6 there. They were equipped with small rusty daggers. Careful not to get to close, the two stopped when they were about 50 feet away.
"So, how do you think we should handle this?" Argon asked in a whisper.
"These 6 are weak. They only have 120 HP each. I can handle it on my own. Just watch." Ares said. In truth, he could have had Argon help, but as he did not completely trust him yet, he decided to show him his strength just in case he decided to try anything against him. Without waiting for a reply from Argon, Ares casted stealth. He then casted both chain lightning and earth spikes immediately killing them all. The fight barely lasted 2 seconds before he butchered all the goblins. The 6 goblins earned him and Argon a total of 90 XP each. Since they were a party of two, the XP was split evenly between the two. When he was done with the slaughter, Ares looked over toward Argon to see his reaction. The look was exactly what Ares wanted. The look of terror and shock.
Argons mouth hung wide open and couldn't speak for a hot minute. Finally, he picked his jaw up off the ground and asked "Y...You are a multi-element mage? How? Is that even possible? I thought you were strong, but damn! This is just nuts." he exclaimed. Ares shrugged like it was no big deal and said "Its only the beginning. Plus, they were only level 3, too weak for any threat. Anyhow, since we got more time, I got to do something. Do not disturb me." Ares then sat on the ground and closed his eyes. He then started to sense and cultivate the water element.
Meanwhile, Argon just blinked and watch Ares. "Man, what a guy. I have a feeling that he will be a major player in the game in the future. I have to stay close to him. " he thought and he sat down a couple feet away waiting for him to finish whatever he was doing.
12 minutes later, Ares stood back up. He had finished cultivating water energy and creating the skill for it. The water element improved his INT and WIS so his WIS went up by 2 and INT up by 1. His CP now stood at 290, mana at 210, and magic attack 110.
"Alright, ready to go?" Ares asked. Argon stood up as well and nodded. They continued on. As they were moving, Ares asked Argon "What quest do you have to do here?".
"I have to kill 20 lizards. They are only located near the valley of storms. We are close no, only a couple minutes away from here." he replied. Ares nodded in understanding. they two ventured on and not long after, they saw the lizards. They level 4 beasts with 300 HP each. they were a bit agile and had decent defense as well. Their only weak spot was that the had weak attack power.
"I will start of and pull their aggro. I should be able to shred most of their HP quickly. You follow behind and attack them when I do. you should be able to finish them off in one or two hits. Ready?" Ares asked. Argon gripped the staff in his hand tighter. "ready" he said. Ares nodded and went into stealth. He launched his new skill water wave.
Water Wave: Level 1; Active XP:0/100
Description: You launch a massive wave of water at enemies, covering a 10 by 10 area. Deals 50 % magic damage to all within that area. If a lightning spell is cast immediately after, that spell has a 100% chance to be a CRIT.
Cast time: Instant
Cool down: 5 minutes
Cost: 10 mana
A massive wave immediately erupted from his hand and bombarded the lizard. There were about a dozen there and all of them were hit. The wave hit and they all took 50 damage. Ares did not let up and immediately cast chain lightning. 5 lizards took a CRIT and lost another 95 damage. not done Ares cast earth spikes, and they took another 75 HP loss. The 5 that took the lightning stood at 80 HP an the rest at 175. At that point, Argon started attacking as well and the lizards finally started to take action. They charged toward them. Ares started hitting them with fiery arrows. The 5 lizards at 80 HP were targeted first and were quickly killed, as only one arrow was needed to finish them off. The other 7 needed 2 or three arrows as Argon joined the fray. Just as the Lizards were within striking distance, the two finished them off. They didn't need to move.
The rewards were as follows: +240 XP, +15 XP to fiery arrow, +1 XP to chain lightning, +1 XP to stealth, +1 XP to earth spikes, +1 XP to water wave.
He had now killed 18 of the 20 monsters needed to complete 1 quest. The best part was that he only needed 190 more XP to get to level 2. At that time he could cultivate his elements again and upgrade his power by a lot. He was very much looking forward to it.
