Elementals of Earth

Denila and Adelgeld continue their journey in the snowy forest, despite knowing that there are statues nearby and around the area. Denila, slows herself while walking to wait, and keep on the same pace with Adelgeld.

“Find it odd? Lots of statues here” Denila says

“Yes, yes I do. I never knew snow trolls were talented in sculpting” Adelgeld responds

“You sure that’s what you’re thinking about?” she asks

“Not really, but I’m guessing you know?” he replies

“You’re hoping that the enemy somehow turned people into these elven statues, yes?”

“Correct! Well done!” Adelgeld replies joyfully

“You know what these are don’t you?”

“Not a clue, maybe you do?” he asks back

“Nope” Denila replies

She continues going through a path going uphill, then downhill followed by Adelgeld. The two travel together until they reach a clearing with a tower in the middle. The surrounding area seemed empty, except for two statues standing side to side at the end of the pathway that leads to the clearing. Denila stops for a while, and accidentally gets bumped into by Adelgeld.

“What was that for?” Denila asks

“Hey! I didn’t notice!” Adelgeld replies

“Don’t daydream man!” she responds

“Why’d you stop anyway?”

“Those two statues don’t seem to avoid, unlike all the statues who stayed in the forest not making contact” Denila answers

“MAYBE because they’re just STATUES” Adelgeld answers back

“OR THEY’RE going to grab me off guard thinking they’re just statues!” Denila responds

Denila sighs then turns back to the statues. She gets in close with Adelgeld at her back, once they reach within 5ft from the statues, a bright light appears behind Denila, and the two statues crumble into dust almost immediately. She instinctively looks back to see the bright light, but only to see Adelgeld also looking back.

“Adelgeld… what was that?” Denila asks

“I don’t know either…” he answers

Denila takes a closer look at the staff Adelgeld is holding and notices that the gemstone on the staff is faintly glowing.

“Sure… Whatever you say” she replies

She brushes off Adelgeld’s lie and continues toward the tower. The two enter through the front door, to their surprise it isn’t locked. In front of them is just a hallway with three doors on the right, a staircase leading up to their left, and another staircase leading upwards at the end of the hallway on the left side. Denila opens up the nearest door on her right and examines the room. The room is a bedroom with a window showing the view outside. Nothing seems odd nor suspicious to her, so she decided to close the door and check out the next room. Before she could open the next door, they began to feel rumbling.

“What is it now, Adelgeld?” she asks

“Don’t look at me! I don’t know anything!” he replies

Two medium sized golems appear tumbling down the staircase at the end of the hallway, they both get back up their feet and slowly approach Denila and Adelgeld.

“Elementals!” Adelgeld exclaims

“What are those?!?!?!” Denila moves back in surprise

“Protect me Denila! I’m vital for this mission!” Adelgeld panics

“Wha- Let’s just make a run for that door!” Denila says

The two begin running, and the golems behind them begin to speed up. In no time, both Denila and Adelgeld are out of the tower, and they immediately close the door and block it from getting opened. They keep the door pushed closed, as the golems from inside try to push the door open. They see the sky turning into crystals and disappear, revealing the true sky.

“This is getting really really weird!” Denila says panting using up her strength to keep the door shut

Hands and arms appear from the snowy grounds, crawling upwards. Statue heads also begin to pop up from the ground facing the two, surrounding them and the tower.

“I’ll keep the door shut! You fight off these statues!” Adelgeld says

“No! You’re not even strong enough to keep this thing closed!” Denila replies

The door gets forcefully pushed open by the golems and the two are pushed back to the ground. They immediately get up. Denila prepares her staff, and Adelgeld does the same.

“So.. what magic can you do, Adelgeld” Denila asks

“The ones were you pull a rabbit from your robes, those kinds” Adelgeld answers

“Summoning magic then, better summon your familiar” Denila says

“I can’t do that!” Adelgeld responds

“We’re on our own then!” Denila declares as she begins using her magic

She does a quick silent chant and a barrier appears surrounding her. The two golems approach Denila and punch the barrier attempting to break it. Adelgeld extends his staff to the ground pointing at the feet of the golems, and a small bump pops upwards causing the golems to lose balance and fall on each other, but they stand back up immediately.

“Do you have ANYTHING USEFUL?” Denila asks

“Hey! I just made an attack! You saw me make them stagger!” Adelgeld replies

“But that didn’t do much!” Denila responds back

The golem again begins punching the barrier, and cracks begin to appear. Adelgeld does the same trick, but the golems don't lose their balance, and continue to punch the barrier.

“Look Adelgeld, if you got anything on you that you’re saving as a last resort, now is the time to do it. Because I don’t have any strong offensive magics” Denila pleads

The statues begin to stand up on their two feet and approach the two. Right when in range of Adelgeld, the staff immediately glows and each statue that came in too close crumbled into dust.

“Great! Now do it to the golems! This barrier can’t keep up any longer” Denila says

“I don’t even know what I did! But I’ll try again!” Adelgeld says

He does the same trick he did earlier, thinking to himself ‘third time’s the charm’ he predicted the footing of the golems on where they would land during their strike, then made the land grow a small bump, successfully causing them to lose balance and fall on each other again.

“You’re useless” Denila says, pissed

“I know!” Adelgeld sarcastically replies

The statues begin to swarm them, but each time they get close. They crumble into dust. After sometime, they stop trying to approach and just surround the two. The golems throw another punch, and it was strong enough to destroy the barrier. Denila falls to the ground as she has lost in keeping her barrier up. Lightning crackles up from her staff, and she immediately gets up about to smack the staff at the head of the golem. The golem caught the staff with its arm, and the lightning spread throughout the golem, but nothing happened to it. Denila staggers back and falls to the ground. Running steps can be heard from the distance, muffled by snow on the ground.

“We’re here!” Benjamin gets thrown to the air as he shouts
