Chapter 25

I discarded the body to the side, taking the seat to myself. Giving a quick look around the room, humming in approval. The control room was slightly smaller than the one in Germany but bigger than my office; instead of 4 monitor screens they had 6 and in exchange for a mini-fridge was a coffee maker.

'I should really get one of those and get a new set of monitors when I'm at it'

Shaking my head to brush aside my thoughts, I instead focus on the task on hand. Taking out the flash drive from my pocket, I turned to the screens. On the east side of the gate gathered all the security defending the manor from the drones and the mafia army, the wall between them stood helplessly at the ongoing attack, bullet upon bullet were fired creating little crater holes. Some of the drones became barrages, shielding the army at the onslaught of the built-in Gatling guns. Around a hundred security men lined up behind the wall, all fully armed with Armalite rifles. A countdown of 5 minutes started flashing through my eyes, it would only take a few minutes before the wall collapsed, 5 minutes till the Russian army turns to dust.

We were slightly outnumbered with only fifty men excluding me and Lynne, if I fuzzed this up were goners. Gritting my teeth at the thought, handshaking from pressure and looming conscience.

I hastily shoved the flash drive to the CPU.

A load-out screen appeared, different encryptions flooded through the six monitors; each spurting tabs upon tabs, destroying the firewall along with it. It took about a minute before the system was fully overwritten and ready to use, the countdown on my glasses disappeared along with it.

I couldn't help but chuckle, having full control of the whole security system under my thumb made my heart flutter in excitement. The sudden rush pulsed through my veins that later flowed down to my fingertips making them tingle, with a few clicks on the keyboard; everything shut down. The battling guns stilled making the people on both sides stopped as well, confused at the sudden action. No one dared to move, not sure what even to do next which earned me a few minutes to reboot everything back up.

I sneered.

"Now then, let's have some fun."

With a click the Gatling gun began to rotate backward, the soldiers could only watch in horror Body trembling from head to toe. I watched and waited as it finishes moving until clicking another key, they suddenly came back to life rapidly firing rounds and rounds of pure led. The assault made everyone shriek and scrambled away as fast as they can out of the danger zone while the Russian mafia on the other side cheered for joy, Lynne then took command. Shouting orders to her army in front of her were The drones, who then released an ultra Sonic wave to finally crumble down the unstable wall. Once the dust settles the army then charged forward, the patio instantly became a battle zone as each side plunged into war, dyeing the ground red. I glanced at the other screens only to see every single camera spotting all the guards rushing to the ruckus downstairs, all armed and loaded from here I could hear the marching of feet outside, disappearing with only a fleeting sound. With shaking fingers, I pressed my earpiece.

"Get me Lynne on the line," I commanded voice gruff.

It took me only about a few seconds to have her on the line but it felt hours on my side, the constant beating of my heart getting louder and louder drowning all the surrounding sounds.

"What's the status?" Came a reply

"I highly suggest you call back up to deal with the other guards since reinforcements are already coming to take you down." I tried to explain without sounding raspy "leave everything to the drones for the meantime, take your team and finish our objective."

There was a heavy pause before a dragged out sigh on the other end

"What's the current coordinates of the target?"

Typing another set of keys until a tab came out

"He is in his office on the west wing, currently guarded with armed personnel; just 10 all positioned outside of his door." I said, "the best entryway is at the side door to your right, better go now reinforcements are approaching fast and in bulk numbers."

"Duly noted."

It took only a single command for her team to regrouped and into formation then up the stairs, Lynne leading them upfront.

"Blue, guard the stairs on the corner and across the hallway," I commanded which earned a snort from him but continued

"Make sure that nobody gets in or out of that area, don't let their backup go through if they did we'll be wiped out instantly."

"Roger that."

The team went up all covering each other's blind spot with one of the drones guarding the stairway, while other drones went head-on to battle with the incoming security men. I was so focused on directing everyone that I hadn't realized that the door was opened, my heart suddenly leaped out of my chest and I could feel my breath shorten. The looming dread washed through my shaken form.

"Who are you?"

From the voice alone I can instantly point out was a man probably the same age as me since his voice isn't that deep yet, my fingers froze as it hovered over the keyboard.

'he's not gonna kill me right?'

Slowly I turned my chair with both hands up in surrender, breath hitched and heart-pounding loudly. Our eyes met Scarlet and Almond brown orbs locking with each other, a shocked expression shone in his. No one dared moved like we were frozen on the spot and as more time passed by, I could feel the world around us suddenly faded and blurred. Like we were both in our own little world, a bubble where the two of us only exist. The guy who stood there looked a little lanky but is slightly taller than me, wearing a button-up dark blue suit, his soft beige contrast made him glow up with it, freckles scattered through his chubby cheeks and his brown hair sleek back.

'Oh God, he's handsome.'

The thought made my cheeks heat up.

Suddenly I could feel a swarm of butterflies flutter through my stomach, making me feel fuzzy inside.

What is this feeling?

My heart pounded loudly but I'm not scared or anything, it's more like it's fluttering for something. Breath raspy and uneven not to mention body shook tremendously.

'Is this what dying feels like?!?'

I was so caught with my thoughts that I didn't even notice him make a run for it.

"Stupid."

I scolded myself as I bolted to the door.
