Chapter 10

"What the hell was that?" Nigel shouted furiously.

No one had an answer. All of us were recovering from the shock that the note brought us. After reading the letter or note or whatever it was, my knees gave away and I just collapsed on the ground. Nigel snatched the note from me and began reading it again to make sure what I had read was correct.

"Who is so cruel? Who hates us so much? This is so not fair!" Sally cried out seething from rage.

"Well I don't know about you guys but I think that it must be that Crazy Girl!" Ritz remarked bluntly.

"Not this again!" Nancy and I groaned in unison.

"Who is this Crazy Girl?" Daniel asked and so Ritz told the entire story again with glee.

"But how are you so sure that it must be that girl only? Does her name start with a 'K'?" I asked Ritz.

"I don't know about that but think about it she was the only one who followed me and Nancy and was the last person we saw before all this happened. This only leads to my suspicions getting confirmed." Ritz tried rationalizing with us but no one was too keen on agreeing with her, however she did make some sense.

"You might be right but we cannot be so sure that it was her." Ady advised.

"But one thing I don't understand is that if 'K' tried telling people that there was a fire won't others go and check if 'K' was telling the truth?" Maddie raised an important question.

"I don't know! This is all so confusing! Why does this person hate us so much? What did we do?" Hessa shouted with frustration.

"Guys I have an idea! Let us divide into two groups. One group can go check the area where the fire alarm was raised and whether there was an actual fire or not and the other can go to the bonfire and somehow get hold of the map of PWDBR and search all the exits to see if there's a way out. What do you all suggest?" I told them my plan that I just came up with.

I saw all of them considering it and then Nancy spoke up "I think there's no harm in trying it. What do we have to lose anyway?"

"Alright then! The group who would go down to check for the fire would include me, Sally, Nigel, Daniel and Maddie while Ady, Riya, Nancy, Ritz and Hessa would go to the bonfire and search for the map and exits. I'm sure Jeff would have one in his office." I said seriously.

Everyone voiced their agreement.

"Lets call it a night. I am exhausted and we have a lot of work to do tomorrow." Riya said.

We all jumped into our sleeping bags and as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out cold. Imagine how tired I was!

We were woken up by Nancy at the crack of the dawn by her yelling at us "Wake up sleepyheads! We have a lot to do today. There's not even a single moment to waste! Get up!"

I woke up grumbling "Calm down woman! I'm up!"

The situation was the same with everyone. After a proper breakfast we all set off in the directions as planned the night before. I was feeling a bit cheerful today as we had a proper plan and were not so confused as yesterday.

Sally, Nigel, Daniel, Maddie and I made our way towards the site chatting and cracking jokes. We searched in each chamber where fire alarms were present and found not even a single one was broken!

"That is stupid! How can everyone run away when the fire alarm was not even raised?" Maddie stated scornfully.

"Wait there's one more alarm near the bonfire! It's the main one. Come on let's go there." Nigel said and started making his way towards the bonfire with all of us hot on his heels.

We ran straight towards the fire alarm and yes, this one was actually broken implying that this was the one 'K' had used to create panic!

"This is horrifying!" Daniel exclaimed.

"Okay so now we know that this was the one 'K' used to create havoc. So that means the area which was burnt would be nearby." I stated.

"Yeah you are probably right Em! Let us split and search for the area it must be near." Sally backed me up.

Soon we made our way in different directions in search for the burnt area. I searched for quite a long time until I came to a dead end.

"This means no fire in this region." I thought and made my way back to where I came from and found Sally and Maddie already waiting.

"I assume you both also didn't find any burnt area?" I asked and was met with 'no' from both of them.

Soon enough Nigel joined us and he too had no success.

"So that leaves us hoping Daniel will find it." Maddie said.

As soon as the words were out of her mouth we heard a shout.

"Guys I think Daniel found it!" Sally said excitedly.

There came another shout this time screaming "Help!"

We all were panic stricken on having heard Daniel shouting for help.

"Umm guys I think Daniel needs help?" I voiced out my thoughts.

"What are you guys doing? Let's go and help him!" Maddie shouted and started running in the direction of Daniel's voice while the rest of us followed her.
