Comforting warm water rained down on him. Good smelling shampoo had filled the bathroom by now and it made everything seem a little bit better.
After Riku had stopped crying in Oliver's arms, he got into the shower and let his thoughts wander. How he wished he could be home right now. Not home, as in mother's house. But home as in, his country, the forest he knew, the animals of which Riku remembered all the names.
He caught the scent of his morning breath and set 'buying a toothbrush' on the list of today's errands as well.
Oliver knocked on the door and said "Outside the bathroom are new clothes, you shouldn't wear what you slept in."
Riku smiled. Oliver was like the best friend he never had. Kind of like an aunt or an older brother.
With a few differences.
He turned the shower off and picked up the clothes Oliver laid in front of the door.
Grey jeans, classic. Underneath was a dark green pullover with a slight pattern on it.
And pink socks.
Cute, Riku thought, as he imagined Oliver wearing that combination himself.
Done dressing, he ruffled through his wet, black, now-amazing-smelling hair.
Hopefully the same shampoo was available in his home country.
Home. That word still felt strange in his mouth.
Checking the mirror one last time, Riku walked out of the bathroom and into the kitchen.
"Wow, it smells good!"
"I cooked us a small breakfast. I hope you like sunny-side-up-eggs", Oliver answered from in front of the stove.
"Absolutely! You didn't have to cook though", the younger said, "can I help somewhere?"
"Nope, I'm almost done, just sit down."
Following Oliver's orders, Riku sat down on the nicely decorated table in the middle of the small kitchen.
"Oh and I also have toast, wait", he said and reached for the bread in the toaster.
-
"So what are your plans for today?"
"I have a few things to buy and I gotta sneak into that hotel room again, to get the rest of my things", Riku said.
"Do you really have to? You can buy new stuff."
"But that costs extra money."
"I'll pay for it then."
"Absolutely not, you've helped me enough", Riku said.
"I don't want you buying everything for me", he said.
"Well, then what can I do?"
Riku thought it over.
Then he said "If you really want to help, you can come with me? Stand at the door and watch if he's coming back?"
Oliver sighed.
-one hour later-
"Hurry up! We don't know if he's coming back anytime soon!"
"Yes I know I know, the card is in here somewhere", Riku replied stressed.
He went through his things one more time and there at the bottom of his bag-
"Got it!"
*click*
"Alright, come on. Let the door open, so we can hear if someone's coming."
"Aye sir", Oliver said and chuckled.
Riku walked through the living room and into the bedroom.
His clothes were gone. All of his things were gone.
He went outside to the balcony.
Nothing.
Back in the kitchen, he found a trash bag, with clothes in it. His clothes.
This asshole wanted to threw them away!
Riku picked it up and packed it into his bag.
—————
"Riku, Riku, he's coming, what do we do?!"
"Hide!"
"Where?"
"Riku? What are you doing here? Oh I'am so happy that you're back", the father said and walked towards him to wrapped his arms around Riku's small body.
"I was so worried!"
"Please let me go", Riku answered and tried to squirm out of the tight embrace.
"Don't start like this again, son-"
"I am not starting anything! Just let go of me!"
"You truly are an ungrateful brat"
"Likewise", Riku said and the father finally let him go.
Quickly Riku went back next to Oliver.
"I just wanted to get my stuff", he said silently and turned around to pack his belongings into a bag.
A few seconds, nothing happened.
But then Riku's father kicked his leg, to make him fall to the floor.
"What the hell-"
Before he finished his sentence he noticed a strong pair of arms grabbing him from behind, lifting him up and pulling him back.
Riku tried to say something but nothing came out. He gasped for air and tried pulling his father's arms off his throat but it was useless. His view got dazed and he saw black points everywhere.
Oliver jumped on his father's back and succeeded in pulling him off.
As he landed on top of Riku's dad, he gave him a good punch in his face.
But the father turned them around and hit Oliver's nose with his head.
In reaction to that, Oliver screamed and held his nose.
Riku, ran, looking for something hard and stable until he found a pan and hit the back of his dad's head.
His father then groaned and fell to the ground. Riku pulled Oliver up and dragged him and his stuff out of the hotel.
"Ah- shit", Oliver said and touched his nose.
"Your dad has a good punch."
Riku searched for something in his pocket.
"Here I have a tissue. Your nose in bleeding."
"Thanks."
"I'm sorry I dragged you into this mess, I was hoping, he wouldn't come back that quickly.
"No worries. I am just glad that you didn't have to go alone. Because I think you'd look worse than me."
Riku didn't say anything to that.
"Riku!!"
"Run", Riku said and they ran down the street into the city.
"In here, hide!", he yelled and waited at an alley for Oliver to join him.
"Go, go go! Further! He can see us if we stay too close to the street!"
Oliver ran further and around a corner, where he grabbed Riku by the waist and pulled him to himself, out of sight.
"Not a word", he said to the younger and took a glimpse around the corner, to see if Riku's dad had caught up.
At least 10 minutes, they stood like that pressed onto each other, because the alley was even thinner here.
"Okay I think we're safe", Oliver said and faced Riku again.
Riku's face was so close to Oliver's that he could feel his breath on his own skin.
"Hey, this is where you picked me up yesterday", Riku chuckled.
"Wait really?", Oliver asked and looked around.
"Shit, you're right", he said and smiled.
Riku returned the smile.
"So, now that we've got my stuff, what do we do with the day?"
"I gotta work a few hours at the studio, later", Oliver replied.
"Studio?"
"Oh yeah. Tattoo studio. I forgot to mention."
"Ohh, that's cool, can I come with you?"
"Ah I don't know. You'll be very bored there."
Riku frowned.
"But if I'm allowed to watch...?"
"I don't know, it depends on each person if they allow it or not."
"Why wouldn't they?"
"Well- if I gotta tattoo someone's intimate parts, I can imagine that they don't want anyone to watch."
Riku's eyes widened.
He nodded.
"Yes okay, I understand that. You tattoo intimate places? Such as.. you know..?"
Oliver chuckled.
"Sometimes, yes."
They continued to stand like that until Riku finally took a step aside and looked around the corner.
"I think he's long gone by now. Let's go."
As he wanted to lift his heavy bag, Oliver was faster and said "you've got your other bag, I'll carry this one."
The younger smiled at those words.
"Fine", he replied, grinning stupidly.
