Yui was in a very good mood today. The GOM was finally beginning their legendary journey and winning game after game. The other reason for her good mood was the success of her online novels. She had written three novels at this point, one still incomplete, and was getting a good amount of cash for them.
Miss Hana never laid a hand on her money nor controlled how she spent it because Miss Hana knew Yui was smart and had a good heart. She dreaded the day Yui would leave the orphanage as the child had become a sort of daughter to her.
If Yui knew how Miss Hana thought of her, she would have cried buckets of tears in happiness.
Yui entered the cafeteria and spotted the GOM sitting together at a table eating. Haizaki was no where in sight and Kise had replaced him on the team. She had witnessed in secret when Kuroko had gone to talk to Haizaki at the incinerator to convince him not to give up basketball. 'Kuroko is such a sweetheart' she thought.
Kuroko was eating quietly when he felt a shiver down his spine. Akashi looked to him.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yes Akashi-kun. I just felt like someone was thinking about me,"
Aomine raised an eyebrow. " Ehhh, that's unlike you Tetsu,"
"Maybe Kurokocchi has an admirer-Heuk!!" Kise closed his mouth after seeing the look on Momoi's face.
"Oha Asa has predicted Aqurius to have bad luck today, nanodayo," Midorima muttered as he placed his chopsticks down.
Kise was eating when he saw someone take a seat a few tables down. He grinned when recognised the girl.
"Ah! Arai-chan, over here," he shouted. Every student in the cafeteria turned towards Yui who wished she could bury herself alive. 'Damn you, Kise'
The GOM also looked towards the girl and Kuroko looked at Kise confuesed.
"Kise-kun, you know Arai-san?"
Aomine looked at the girl whose face was completely red. "Who is she? She's pretty cute,"
Momoi answered him. "Oh that's Arai Yui. She's in the same class as Tetsu and I. How do you know her Kise-kun?"
"She accidentally bumped into me..." Kise didn't continue.
"And..." Aomine edged on. Murasakibara focused on his food and couldn't be bothere with anything else. Akashi glanced at the girl for a moment before turning back to Kise.
"Well she was interesting. Pretty blunt but a good personality. Also...SHE WAS COMPLETELY UNAFFECTED BY MEEE!!!" Kise wailed. That incident still dealt a slight bit of damage to his ego but she interested him nevertheless.
The GOM just rolled their eyes. Akashi spoke. "That girl's been attending all our matches. Usually the ones where Tetsuya plays."
Momoi's eyes widened but Kuroko spoke up before she said anything. "Yeah, she even skips school especially to come see us. She always carries her camera with her and taking photos of us,"
"So...you've got a stalker, Tetsu," Aomine said. Kuroko shook his head. "No I don't think so. I talk to her every now and then and she is definitely not the type to stalk. Perhaps she just likes basketball,"
"Why don't I go bring her over and we can ask? She's all by herself anyway," Kise got up and walked towards Yui who was trying to ignore the stares. A shadow fell over her and she looked up to discover a smiling Kise.
"Kise-kun, did you really have to call me out like that? The girls are burning holes through me," Yui said frustratedly. So much for not standing out. At this point, she was thinking 'screw everything and the plot'.
"Ahaha, sorry Arai-chan. Why don't you come sit with us? You're all alone here," Kise said.
Yui tensed up and peaked at the GOM members behind him. She was conflicted; on one hand, this was her chance to meet the GOM in person and get autographs from them and on the other hand, her mouth that couldn't seem to shut up would probably get her in trouble.
' This...is my one chance to meet them all at once. Technically, as long as Akashi loses at the end, everything should be fine right?'
Kise watched the girl contemplate for a moment before agreeing. He was surprised she needed to think because he was convinced anyone else would have jumped at the chance to sit with them.
She carried her lunch box and followed Kise to his table ignoring the stares and whispers.
The GOM watched as the girl followed Kise nervously and stopped in front of them.
"Ah Arai-san, you can sit next to me," Momoi patted the space next to her. Yui hesitated at first but the pink-haired girl pulled her into the seat.
Midorima knocked Kise's head for acting without thinking but said nothing as Yui squirmed under the stares. Kuroko greeted her.
"Hello again, Arai-san," The table were somewhat waiting for Yui to jump in shock but instead, to all their surprise, she looked to Kuroko and calmly replied. "Kuroko-kun, hello to you too."
Akashi looked at the girl who felt his stare and Yui gulped before bowing her head.
"Ah sorry for not greeting you. Nice to meet you, my name is Arai Yui. I already know all of you,"
That wasn't much of a surprise seeing how popular their group was.
Akashi gave a polite smile. "Nice to meet you too, Arai-san. I've heard a bit from Kuroko and Kise here about you,"
Yui blushed. "Ah are you talking about me attending your matches? I swear I'm not a stalker,"
Aomine was busy estimating her 'size' when Momoi slapped the back of his head. "Dai-chan, that's rude. Stop being such a pervert,"
"Crap Satsuki, why so hard? Anyway, if you're not a stalker then why the camera?"
Yui chuckled, "I'm sorry if I offended you by taking photos but I just love watching your games,"
"It isn't illegal and there are hundreds of people taking photos of us," Akashi said. "I would like to to see the photos,"
Yui gave took out her camera and gave it to him without hesitation. Akashi noticed the girl had a slight fear of him and was happy about that. He was absolute.
Akashi looked through the photos with Midorima who was curious. The two were impressed by her skill of photgraphy. Akashi handed the camera back to her and Yui took it with shaking hands.
" You are good at photography. Did you learn from somewhere?" Akashi asked. The members stared at Yui who replied clearly. " No, I'm self-taught. Taking pictures kind of became a hobby I took up this year,"
'She's not lying.' Akashi thought. He made a note to do a background search on her once lunch was over.
" That's amazing Arai-chan, I didn't know you were so talented," Kise said as he and the others looked through the camera. Even Murasakibara was curious and watched from the side. All of a sudden his nose caught a wiff of a nice smell and he turned towards Yui's lunch box which she just opened.
"Ne, Araichin, is that your food?" The purple giant said as he stared at the lunch box. Everyone at the table looked towards the food all attracted to the smell.
"Huh? Oh yes. I made it this morning," She said. There were these dumplings in her lunch box neatly lined up and decorated cutely. Yui saw the Murasakibara's longing expression and offered him some.
"Um, would you like to try it?" she said. The giant nodded before taking one dumpling and placing it in his mouth. His eyes widened as he chewed and looked to be in absolute bliss. Kise grew curious and Aomine looked at the dumplings greedily.
"That's the happiest I've seen Murasakibara-kun," Kuroko said. Even he was curious towards the dumplings that seemed to catch the giant's heart.
Yui saw their expressions and inwardly chuckled. "You're all welcome to have some. I packed an extra sandwich for myself. I was gonna eat it later but I'll have it now. I can always make more dumplings for myself anyway,"
Without any further hesitation, they all grabbed a dumpling and placed it in their mouths. Their eyes widened and they all made expressions of happiness, except Akashi who just gave a small grin.
"Unbelievable, is this what heaven feels like?" Kise asked. Midorima, pushed up his glasses before going for the last dumpling. All of a sudden, two other pairs of chopsticks intercepted his and he glared at Aomine and Murasakibara.
"You two have already eaten two servings of food, I think I should be the one to eat this last dumpling," he scowled.
"No way Midochin, this belongs to me," Murasakibara said. His fighting spirit was suddenly lit up.
"Listen four-eyes, since I score the most in our matches, I think I should be the one to eat this," Aomine said. Even Momoi spoke up. "I'm the only girl and a hard-working manager of the basketball team. I believe I should be the one to get the last dumpling,"
"I'm invisible most of the time and I talk to Arai-san the most," Kuroko joined in with his usual blank expression but everyone was shocked that he participated.
"Oh oh me too. Um, I'm the handsomest one here so obviously I should be the one to eat it," Kise argued shamelessly. Actually they were all shameless at this point and the table broke out into a state of argument.
Yui was shocked that her dumplings were the cause of all this but didn't regret offering it to them. Suddenly, a cold voice spoke.
"That's enough." Akashi said with a glare that made his teammates shiver. Murasakibara wanted to argue but one look from the red-head shut him up.
"Obviously, the last dumpling belongs to me. I'm absolute after all," Akashi took the dumpling and ate it whilst everyone looked at him blankly.
'So SHAMELESS!!' they all thought. Unfortunately, none could argue with the emperor and they watched sadly as he swallowed the last bit of deliciousness.
Yui felt happy they enjoyed the dumplings. 'Omg omg my idols loved my cooking.'
"Um, I could bring you some more tomorrow," she said quietly. The table snapped their head towards her.
"Seriously? Thanks a lot, Arai-chan," Kise said with a gleeful expression. All their eyes brightened up and Murasakibara stared at her with she assumed was his happy face.
"It's no problem, I'm happy you all enjoyed it. I usually make them for younger kids at the orphanage-heup!" Yui shut her mouth and cursed inwardly. 'Yui and your stupid mouth'
Momoir spoke kindly, "Awww, you volunteer at the orphanage?"
Um, not exactly. I...live there actually. Hehe. I'm an orphan," Yui said trying to sound nonchalant.
The table went silent as they stared at her with shock and pity.
"Ah is-is that so? I'm sorry for asking," Momoi said guiltily. Yui shook her head.
"Don't feel bad Momoi-san. It's not that sad really. I've gotten used to it,"
The bell rang before anyone else could talk and Yui, who was embarrassed, quickly rushed away with her lunch box.
*SLAP*
"OW!! What the heck was that for?!" Kise yelled as he held his sore head. Aomine shrugged an looked at the back of the running girl.
