Departure

Sending Jessica out to get prepared, Daniel asked 'system, do you have a teleportation feature by any chance?'

'Huh? why didn't I see that before.'

'...'

Speechless, Daniel could only stare into space for a good moment. He never thought that the system would give him a stab like that.

Letting out a long sigh, Daniel turned towards a guardsmen and said "summon Markus and Gerald to the throne room."

"Yes lord!"

An hour later, both men arrived in the throne room and bowed respectfully.

"We greet the lord!" said both men.

"I will get straight to the point, there is something important that I must do which will give us a better chance of winning against the orcs. In my absence, both of you will be in charge of protecting the city until I come back." said Daniel.

Although both of them are curious about what Daniel is planning to do but they also knew better then ask. If their lord want to tell them then he will naturally do so.

With a simple reply, both men said "yes lord."

"Good, and if I don't make it back in time. If the city is about to fall then save yourselves, there's no honor to die in a losing battle. Live and fight another day against the orcs."

After giving that last remark, Daniel dismissed the two general and made his way to the stable. Here, a huge horse could be seen eating other horses food without a care.

Shaking his head in defeat, he made way towards the horse which is named hulk after the previous battle. This horse was extremely fierce in battle as it tackle and even try to bite the wolf!

Noticing it's master, hulk ran over happily as he rub gently against Daniel.

Patting hulk head, Daniel said "there is something important that I must do and I will rely on you to get it done quickly my friend. Can I count on you?"

Looking straight into Daniel eyes, hulk determination could be felt.

- Midnight at the city gate -

Rumble! Rumble!

Riding on hulk, Daniel made his way toward the city gate with another slightly smaller horse being pulled along. Seeing the city gate in the distance, he noticed a fully armed female warrior waiting patiently. After reaching the city gate and share some greetings, the duo set off right away.

Seeing that there are no guards following them after so long, Jessica said "my lord, you didn't bring any guards?"

"With the war approaching, I can't risk bringing the guardsmen. Plus, it is easier to travel in a small group to avoid enemy detection if we ever met one along the way." said Daniel.

"But isn't it dangerous if we end up in a fight with just the two of us?"

"Don't worry, if things get dangerous and we are about to be captured then I will kill you first before escaping. To spare you from the enemy torture." replied Daniel with a straight face.

'Seriously!?' screamed Jessica in her mind.

Just like that the two continue to ride for two day straight before finding a safe place to rest. After taking turn sleeping on horseback for so long, it was nice to finally be back on the ground. Inside a small cave, Daniel and Jessica are eating dried meat since hunting and making a fire is just straight up stupid. Who knows if there are any orcs marauder around here at the moment.

Looking at Jessica exhausted face, Daniel felt a little bad but that was it because he had no time for womanly care right now. But he did feel grateful for the gold that she will help him get. As long as she is not a traitor then he will treat her good from now on.

Hesitating, Jessica looked at Daniel and said "lord, I need to pee...so can you step out for a bit?"

"Huh? shouldn't you pee outside instead?" said Daniel.

"Yes but I'm scared to go alone."

"...."

Thinking hard about what to do since he have no prior experience with women besides the prostitute that was paid to have sex with him. In the end, he decided to give up wasting time thinking and reluctantly escorted her out to complete the deed.

While waiting for Jessica to finish with her business, Daniel ears started to twitch as he was picking up a screaming voice. However, due to the distance he couldn't really make out who and where that scream is coming from.

But it seems that the scream is actually coming closer the more he listened to it. Staying on the safe side of things, Daniel immediately enter the bushes to grab Jessica who is still releasing the river.

Covering her mouth with his hands, he pull her pants up and getting it all wet before carrying her back to the cave quickly.

Ignoring Jessica murderous gaze, Daniel lead them away to a safer distance. Soon, the screams became clearer and it seems like the screams belong to humans.

"Please! someone help us!"

"Waaaa, I'm scared daddy. I want mommy!"

"Is anyone out there! please save us!"

Bang!

"You noisy rats! shut your damn mouths!" said an orc carrying a huge war hammer.

"You damn beast will not have a good death!" screamed an elderly man.

In the distance, Daniel and Jessica was looking at this scene but there expression was different. Gritting her teeth to hold back the urge to rush forth, Jessica continues to burn that image into her mind and swore to take revenge. As for Daniel, he couldn't care less since they are not in the position to help but what he want to know is where are they going with those people.

Once the orcs are gone and out of their sight, the duo continues on their journey under Daniel urging.
