Trip to the City

"Well, little one it looks like we can start heading out now." Captain Collins said arriving at a fairly healthy dark maned horse with Alexander in his arms.

The Father and Son duo head into town west of the army camp of Galdos. An hour passes by as the duo pass seemingly a never-ending row of trees on both sides of the horse. Alexander noticed Captain Collins was emitting an aura around himself, so Alexander started staring wide-eyed at the man behind him only to see his eyes widen.

*Howwwwwwwwwl* *Grrrrrr*

"Who would have thought these dam monsters would pick a fight with me. I was more than certain they would leave us alone if I projected my soul power. Must be due to the little guy and thought they could overwhelm me and take him." Captain Collins remarked to himself as his hands started emitting heat from them.

'Did this guy just say those things that sound like wolves are trying to take me to kill me? Wait did he say something about soul power? Is that what I could feel of off those officers and the Captain all those times?' Alexander thought to himself as he felt the temperature around the horse start to rise and sweat began running down his small back.

"This is annoying 20 more mins and we would have made it to North Lake City. Don't worry little guy no need to be afraid from now on I will protect you." Captain Collins remarked placing Alexander inside his green coat held up by his military belt.

"Seems we will have to create some sort of distraction to get away."

'This must be what baby kangaroos in my last life felt like being placed inside his coat like this. Well, at least I can still see outside through the collar of his coat and can observe this world a little more.' As Alexander thought this, he felt something start moving inside the coat with him. Looking around for the cause of this he noticed something glowing red under the Captain's white dress shirt.

'This must be the tattoo I saw last night? Right? I can feel it moving across his body. Is it alive inside his body? What is going on maybe I don't want to make fire.... actually, yes, I do. This is pretty cool I wonder if I can get a snake-like the Captain as well.'

Alexander freezes as he sees large wolves make their way out of the forest from both sides of the dirt road. The wolves seem to be 4 meters in size while one who was 6 meters tall on all fours was still leading the rest.

"Really 6 E-ranked stone wolves on both sides and 1 D-ranked alpha. Looks like I have no other option. Hopefully, someone is near so they can reinforce me. I can last maybe 10 mins because I can't even let them touch me once or Alexander will be gravely injured." Captain Collins said to himself in a determined low voice seemingly formulating a plan in his mind.

'Man thank the gods this man loves to talk to himself or I would never learn anything. So, from what I can gather from what he just said monsters have different ranks depending on how difficult they are to fight. The only way humans can fight back is due to that soul power stuff that seems to have something to do with the tattoo.'

As Alexander was pondering on this new world Captain Collins pointed his left hand into the air sending out a red ball into the air.

*PSHHHHT* *BOOOM*

'Was that a flare?'

Directly after Captain Collins started shooting fiery balls at the wolves seemingly landing short of every single one. He was creating a wall of fire between the wolves and the duo. After 8 minutes of a constant bombardment of the fiery explosions, the wall of flames started to die down until the two parties were staring at each other once again. The alpha seemed to have a layer of rocks surrounding him now almost like armor while some of the other E-ranked wolves seemed to be heavily injured with black burn marks on all of their bodies. Captain Collins was noticeably getting more and more exhausted.

"Dammit, I was hoping to finish off more of them with that firewall. Looks like I will have to burn down a part of this forest in order to protect us further." The Captain thought to himself while staring at the alpha covered in stone and rocks.

*Shhhhhhpt* *Shhhhhhhpt* *Shhhhpt*

As arrows flew out from behind the wolves killing off one of the injured wolves one by one. The alphas' eyes darting around the dirt road behind the pack growling at his surprise attackers. Then suddenly vines started to come from the ground beneath the remainder of the wolf pack entangling every single one including the alpha. Arrows continuing to fly killing all of the wolves off.

"State your name and where you are traveling to." A voice came from an archer dropping from the tree several meters ahead of the duo.

"Yes, Captain Chris Collins of the Northern Mountain Pass encampment heading to North Lake City to register my son here as a citizen." Captain Collins hurriedly stated as he recognized the uniform the man dropping down from the tree was wearing.

Alexander saw the man Captain Collins was speaking with who had a fairly white complexion wearing a uniform completely brown in color besides a golden tree branch on his breast pocket with a black headband with the same insignia. Also, observing the man completely disappear from his sight.

'Who was that person? His uniform seemed different from the ones I have seen before. Also, the Captain seemed to answer right away as if he was worried about something.' As Alexander thought these things a white carriage arrived in front of the duo surrounded by at least 20 guards being led by the man from before.

As the carriage arrived in front of the duo the carriage stopped and a door opened as two stairs appeared on the side of the doorway. A woman stepped out of the door covered in a beautiful white dress with golden designs all over the dress creating tree branches and leaves covering the entirety of the dress. The woman also wore a green veil over her face on top laid a silvery crown with a green gem implanted in the center. Alexander seemed to notice an enormous pressure as the woman stepped onto the first step of the carriage presenting a royal pressure.

Captain Collins immediately hopped off his horse then dropping to one knee to greet the woman. As Alexander stared at the woman only his small head with black hair sticking out of the green coat wondering who this woman was.

'Is this the ruler of this land? But, why does she have pointed ea..... wait a second is that an elf? There are elves in this world. Man, there are a lot of people from my last world who would kill to switch places with me right now.'

"Captain Collins I have been made aware of your circumstances may you show me your child." The beautifully dressed woman elf instructed.

Pulling Alexander out of this coat to present to the woman. The woman then stared at the young boy walking up to him to touch his forehead. The woman placed her hand on his head then seemed to smile faintly as she removed her hand from his head.

Alexander could make out the green eyes under the veil suddenly change color as her hand was placed upon his head then change back when it was taken off.

'What was that just now?'

"So, he is not your blood huh?"

"No, your highness, he was left by his original parents out in the cold in front of our encampment. Thus, I have decided to raise and care for the child with everything I possibly can." Captain Collins still kneeling on the floor stated with a smile on his face.

"That is for the best. This boy here has potential, so take good care of him. The king and I also have a new young princess back home who was just born a couple of months ago. We are rushing back now, so I can be with her. So, we will be going now we strayed off course when we saw your flare earlier. It was good meeting both of you. I look forward to seeing that boy do great things in the future." As the woman finished speaking, she turned around disappearing into her carriage.

Captain Collins returned atop his horse moving to the side of the road allowing the carriage and bodyguards to pass on down the road. The carriage disappearing into the distance. The trip continuing as the duos horse continued down the road at a faster pace than before.

Inside the White Carriage

'Who was that boy? I could not see how far he will grow? This is interesting the world seems to be changing. Maybe it's for the better this continent is slowly slipping into the wrong hands.' The elvish woman thought to herself.

"Mother, why did you go out to greet those two you could have let the guards handle them? That man was merely a Captain of a Northern Encampment. We are already running behind schedule as we came to visit for the World Tree gathering." Curiously asked a well-dressed young man sitting across from her who had a matching white uniform.

"Never look down on another individual no matter their rank and you know your mother loves to check on the younger generation."

"Yes, mother I know. What did you see about the little boy?"

"I didn't see anything at all. That little boy is much like your new sister"

"How is that possible mother?"

"I don't know but it will be interesting in the academy in a couple of years."

"Mother you really think that boy will be able to join the academy in 12 years?"

"I would be surprised if he doesn't accomplish more by then."

At the entrance to North Lake City

"Everyone in line needs to have your identification crystals on hand when you arrive at the cities checkpoint for inspection." A burly voice protruded from near the main gates of the city.

Captain Collins walked to a second and much smaller line leading to the main gates checkpoint. Pressing eyes staring at his back as he passed the individuals heading towards the gates.

A guard in chainmail armor bearing an eagle insignia on his chest examined Captain Collins carrying a small baby in his hands. "By inspecting your uniform and your horse, you seem to be a Captain stationed in the encampment just north of our North Lake City. Thank you for your service staying on the front lines protecting this city is no easy feat. Without all of you, we would have been wiped out 5 years ago when we had that A-ranked monster appear in the mountains. So, don't worry about the inspection you may pass into the city."

The Father and Son duo arrived inside North Lake City which was circular surrounding a small lake (100 Acres) with small ports running on the shores. All of the buildings had wooden signs posted outside their doors Alexander could make out bakeries to blacksmith shops. Down the main road was a large wooden building with a statue out front of a large man holding a spear and a small shield.

Carved underneath the statue read 'King Galdos the mighty eagle knight that fought for peace and prosperity in the name of all.'

"Finally, here. If only we could have shared this moment, I know how you always wanted us to have a son." Captain Collins said underneath his breath entering the building behind the marble statue.
