Keevah who’s been lying on her fluffy bed ever since they called her mother suddenly gets up, looking at her friend, Creed who’s speculating things just because of a rumor. None of them get the chance to snap him out since all of the directors of Avarial are lining up on the television, getting interviewed by some well-known reporter.
Police and investigators scattered around the abandoned building while the other employees are just standing behind them, mouths shut. Kelsey, together with Kiera and Hazel is the oldest and the most used ion hearing things like this secretly bit their lower lips until it bleeds. Not want to add more drama to it.
Aiken on the other hand is sitting far away from them, unconsciously analyzing the situation when he realized something. He rose from his leather sofa and slowly walk toward the transfer student like him, Keevah. He leaned in closer to her, whispering something.
“Avarial will probably be closed for a week or even a month,” Annaliese said, peeling the apple on the table before giving it to everyone in the room.
“Surely,” Prince added.
Bubble walks toward the kitchen to find the refrigerator, he opened it and drink water together with a small pill.
“Don’t you think the police should that we just witnessed that murder?” Justin shrugged, looking at the camera once again. He pointed at the camera and there he is, Professor Forshay. Shocked, all of their eyes widen as they hear a knock on the door.
“No! We can’t.” Keevah holds her neck and slowly walks toward Justin who’s holding the camera.
All eyes were on her that she feels her body trembling in fear. Keevah doesn’t know anything about her condition and just ignored it every single time it happened. Her friend’s eyes were trembling as well as their stiffened body.
“Aren’t you curious what’s Avarial’s secret?” She slowly asked, hesitating. Keevah knew that no matter what kind of praised Avarial received, it won’t make her stop finding the truth. She has had this uneasy feeling ever since she heard the school’s name, it seems like it somewhat gave her the memory of her father.
“What are you saying?” Luke snapped. He knew very well what will happen if they interfered again. They did it once and the result wasn’t worth it.
“Of course, we are, but don’t you think it’s too risky?” Luke asked, half shouting as if he can no longer hold himself.
Leo’s hand was wrapped around Luke’s thick neck, trying to console him a bit. All of them knew it. They knew everything that can happen they try again, all of them knew it and they can’t lose anyone once again.
“Oh, yes. But could you please give me some lead where to start?” Their mouth agape in Keevah’s persistent eyes.
A long silence once again. It was so quiet that they could hear their heart beating so fast, their warm breath that’s been attempting to stop any second now. Sui put her arms on her chest and carefully fold it. Her long straight hair is beautifully dancing with the wind passing by the window near her chair.
She analyzed everyone and slowly raised her hand, looking at Keevah’s trembling eyes. Her lips curled up as she pictures Keevah getting caught by the cops alone. Hazel and Diana’s eyes were focused on her, slightly shaking their head.
But Sui just looked at them with “What’s young problem look” with her big round eyes. Soon it was Prince who broke the silence and grabbed the pen and whiteboard near the living room. The room was nothing cheerful nor serious. It was like they’re just attending the normal lecture of their dead professor Forshay.
“According to Levi’s lead two years ago, The Avarial High allied with central science bureau. But there is nothing that can provide the accuracy of this lead that year.” Prince raised the papers he’s holding before drawing a small circle on the whiteboard.
His eyes were full of sorrow every time he mentioned the name Levi and so the other. Aiken on the other hand furrowed his eyebrows, finding it weird. Even though he knew why.
“But Levi’s diary was burned that day. That’s the only lead we have right now.” Kiera pointed her slender finger on the papers in Prince's hand then smile bitterly.
“Understandable. But Avarial, what is the true history of Avarial?” Keevah asked, clenching her fist tightly as if she is determined enough to solve this case.
“Is it my time to shine now?” Alex the oldest among them suddenly shouted. It’s been a while since someone asked about the true history of their school that made him quite excited. Just like everyone in the room, Alex attended Avarial the longest as he is about to graduate this year with Cody, Leo, Kelsey, Kiera, and Hazel. All of them are graduating students that are eager to spread more rumors about their school.
Alex Morgan first attended Avarial High when he was in middle school. It was called Avarial High not because it was made for high school students but the word high stands for “High Idealistic Genome Healing” it was because of their student’s outstanding performance in every field. That alone led the school on top not just locally but internationally.
Competitions like quiz bees and other brain and physical competitions are organized by Avarial to look for someone with unique skills. To be honest there are no examinations because they don’t allow enrollees. Avarial High’s director scouted numerous students all over the world and examine their brain and physical health before officially becoming a student. That’s why all of the students in Avarial are called “Mystic” it was also said that these students seek help from God and not in science. There are so many rumors circulating that no one can compare to this. Mystic is divided into two sections; the flair and the adroit. Flair is for the natural geniuses and those students who excelled by using their brains and the adroit are the ones who use their physical talent in sportsmanship. If a person excelled in both, the other student can call them the “SI”.
“SI? What’s the meaning of that?” Keevah unconsciously asked as Alex explained everything that he knows so far.
“Aren’t you part of that group, Keevah?” Annaliese who knew every schedule of her friend muttered, tilting her head as if curious about what Keevah was thinking. Keevah on the other hand who doesn’t know anything and just joined every club she passed by frowning. It was when Cleo stood beside her and slowly nodded her head.
“That is right. She’s part of our class.”
Justin pointed at his tie and the budge his wearing and smile at Keevah. That was when Keevah noticed the similarity of her tie and budge to the three special students standing in front of her.
