Death Threat

Some of them were forced while some were tempted. There's no clear reason why Avarial wants them in the first place. Just like any other normal students, they excelled in either sports or academics.

"We want your knowledge." is the most used word of Avarial. Cody is an orphan and he doesn't know the exact reason for that. The priest who took care of him just said that he's seen outside the orphanage just like any other abandoned child. He was just 10 years old back then and he always thought that maybe the reason his parents abandoned him was that he is not worth it.

Knowledge? Cody is aware that he's neither smart nor good at sports so the offer was unexpected. At first, the staffs simply encourage him to consider their offer but after a few rejections, they started sending him text messages, death threats and even hired a professional killer to kill him.

That was when he accepted the offer and accept all the agreements without a hitch. He expected the school to be great but not to the point of having all of the students learn everything by force. Cody who's having a hard time adjusting met Leo and Alex and became friends with them. There is nothing to care about as long as they're not harassing him, but a transfer student suddenly came and told them to investigate the secret of Avarial.

"Cody, you're going with us, right?" She asked. She's small and fragile that it's hard to tell her that she's leading everyone in the wrong direction but as if a loyal dog, his friends, and the girl continued investigating to the point of meeting the end of the cliff. That day when they went to the Meat Shop to check the connection between Avarial and the shop, they almost killed them.

"What is this?" Keevah asked, looking at the half-asleep Cody. She waved his phone and let everyone read the messages too. "I've been holding myself since you came but I'll say it anyway. Keevah, you're risking our life for this nonsense investigation."

Keevah gulps her saliva, eyes widened. She's not trying to do things for herself and she knows that. She's also aware of their situation but the timing is just worst that they have no choice but to move forward. The police already found them suspects in their professor's murder case. The police starts spreading posters and postcards with their faces and names are written on them. There's no choice anymore but to move forward but the fact that she led them to the situation makes it harder for Keevah.

"I know but we don't have a choice." Keevah forced herself to smile then gather the papers on the floor.

"There is. Leave the case to the police and surrender ourselves, easy right?" The tension in the room became tenser as time goes by. No one dared to open their mouth as they all agree with Cody. People start contacting them and sending threatening messages. It's been a month since they started receiving death threats from strangers and they couldn't take it anymore.

At first, they ignored it, but since the police gave their pictures to the reporters, danger seemed to look after them. Kelsey was bashed and even kicked out of their house, Alex, Kiera, Hazel, and Prince were humiliated in public. Cleo and Sui's business were getting bankrupt little by little because of the rumors circulating. Justin, Annaliese, Luke, Leo, and Aiken were intentionally hit by multiple cars every single day. As for Diana, Bubble, and Keevah, they're safe, fortunately.

"But do you really think the police will let us? Avarial is popular and makes half of the government's money. Our government is protecting them. There's no end to this!" Furious, Keevah shouted loud enough for the neighbors to hear them. All of them look at Keevah with a hint of worry on their face but they knew they need to surrender.

"Keevah, it's been rough since that day, there's no need to risk anything." Alex shrugged, walking away from Keevah as she tried to go near him.

Keevah pouted her lips, scratching her chin. She sighs heavily as if there's no way she can convince any of them. She can feel the tears in her eyes but hold them in. The sound coming from the television echoed in the room, making it harder for her to hold her tears. She took her phone when she received a video.

Her hands are shaking but she tried her best to hide it, she turned to her friends then said; "My mother needs me, I think I need to come to fetch her." She smiled at the 15 people who's looking on the ground.

It's just 3 months since they became her friends and she can't risk their life just for fun. She put all of them in danger and even let them be kicked out of their houses while she's having fun investigating her father's accident. "You should get going too, the police are on their way to arrest us."

Outside the peaceful hotel, a couple of police car stopped and hold their guns out. People outside starts freaking out, running away from the hotel, even the concierge of the hotel begin to panic as they saw the police barging on the luxurious hotel. Captain Creison shouted the names of the suspects.

He can't believe that he's about to arrest 16 teenagers but barge in anyway. He signaled his subordinates to open the door and search the room but there is nothing but scattered papers and pictures. One of his subordinates walks towards him then gives him a piece of paper with something on it.

"Search every corner of this room, gather every information you can get. We'll arrest these rascals!" Eyes furrowed, he shouted out of his lungs. His subordinates replied to him immediately as this is the first time they see their captain get angry. Captain Creison is known as a calm and quiet person, so the unexpected reactions give them goosebumps.
