Chapter 7.7

Unknown POV

‘Hey, wakeup. Hey!’ Jones exclaims helplessly. He is not one to take care of girls more often.

‘What did you do to my friend? Oh poor Susan, aah God what have you done with her? Marigold, who had come with her mate, James to check up on her best-friend but she came to find her unconscious.

Marigold has been shouting at Jones, accusing him of scaring her friend to have made her passed out like that.

‘Woman, shut up alright?’ Jones roars at her but she continues to rain accusations on him which infuriates him to the highest level.

‘James Do not just stand there. Can you not train your toy well? These stupid humans are so worthless.’ Jones says angrily, already seeing red.

‘Hey! Who do you think you are? You are calling us worthless? We may be worthless but it is way better to be a worthless human than to be a demon! You disgust me.’ Marigold shouts at Jones, also seeing red already.

‘Hey bro, do not describe my mate as a toy and stop calling humans as worthless. They may be worthless but remember that fate has paired you with one.’ James says with a calm voice.

‘I can’t believe what is even happening right now. You are already whipped by this human? Instead of you to teach her some proper manners, look at what you are saying.

This is what they do, first they make you get too attached to them and then comes the betrayal, she will break you.’ Jones says but this time, a little bit of sadness can be heard in his voice

‘Hey bro, I am sorry that your previous mate did not treat you well but the fact that she was deceitful does not mean all mates are just like that. In my opinion, I think fate is giving you another chance at love, you are like these lost souls in this realm so give yourself a chance for change or else you will be trapped in darkness for the rest of your life or even worse, you may be destroyed for life. Give yourself a chance bro.’ James says as he pats Jones on the shoulder.

‘Do not tell me what is right or wrong, never again should you even tell me what to do if you can’t tell that pathetic mate of yours the correct thing to do. Teach her to respect authorities or I would not mind to give her off as a gift to asmodeus and you know asmodeus never says no to a girl been offered as a gift.’ Jones says angrily as he rips James’ hands off his shoulder.

‘Hey calm down bro, I will leave you to it and come back later when you have cooled down. Come on Marigold, let us go and come back later to check up on your friend.’ James says as he takes holds of Marigold’s hand to drag her out but Marigold on the other hand refuses to move even a leg.

‘Stop been stubborn Gold, let us go. You would not want to provoke him any further.’ James says as he continues to try and drag his mate out of the room but she continues to relent.

‘No one is leaving this room. You are not leaving and I am not also leaving. If he wants to leave, he can go ahead but I am not going to leave until my friend wakes up.’ Marigold says stubbornly, moving to stand right in-front of Jones.

All along, Jones just keeps still beside an unconscious Susan with his words eyes closed, trying all his possible best to not snap at the little human.

‘Marigold Stop right this moment!’ James shouts but his mate just keeps on going as if she could not even hear her mate’s voice.

James gets nervous and worried for her mate, it is as if he knows that something grave is on the verge of happening.

‘No James do not tell me to stop. Whom does he think he he is? Who-do-you-think-you-are? You think you are some sort of fucked up royalty who can just tell us to do stuffs?’ Marigold says, now fully in-front of Jones as she continuously jabs her middle finger at Jones’ chest.

Having enough of her, Jones holds her arms and squeeze it hard. It is as if at this moment, he can’t see anything, all his focus is on Marigold’s arm, the arm he is squeezing so hard.

‘Hey you douche, you scoundrel, you are hurting me. Jerk leave my fucking arm!’ Marigold says with a firm but pain filled voice.

‘Abaddon, please leave her, she is a clueless human who does not have any idea of the consequences of her actions.’ James pleads with Jones, Abbadon to let his mate go.

Jones on the other hand seems to be on overdrive as he continues to inflict pain on the poor human.

Tears start to stream down Marigold’s face and James too continues to plead on the behalf of his crying mate.

‘What is going on here.’ Susan who has been in unconsciousness for some hours asks as she sits on the bed, staring at them with a confused expression.

‘Nothing Marigold and me were already leaving. We came to check up on you but I think we will have to come and visit you some other time.’ James says nervously.

‘Ah no, we can talk now. I just woke-up and I would very much like to have some moment with my best-friend, we have a lot to catch up on. Right Marigold?’ Susan says, oblivious of the previous events in the room as well as the tension in the air.

‘No as they said, they were already on their way. They will come and visit soon.’ Jones says with an unusual voice which shakes the bones of the people in the room to the core.

With this voice, it seems he has captured all the people except his mate in some sort of charm.

Marigold nods her head and finally allows her mate to pull her towards the door but Susan asks them a question before they leave.

‘Hey wait Marigold, why are you crying?’ Susan asks her best-friend with wide eyes, shock and worry present in her voice.

‘Why don’t you ask your maniac douchebag of a mate?’ Marigold says as James finally pulls her out of the room.

‘What did you do to her.’ Susan asks her mate immediately the other duo leaves the room.

‘Why did you pass out?’ Jones also asks her a question as he ignores hers.

‘Will you answer my question or what? I swear if I find out that you hurt her, I am...’ Susan starts to say but Jones does not let her finish before he interrupts her words.

‘What will you do little human? If I hurt her, what would you possibly do to me?’ Jones asks her with a threatening voice.

‘Why do you hate humans so much?’ Susan says as she stares straight into his eyes, telling him indirectly that she is not in the least intimidated by him.

‘For your information, I actually hurt her. She was accusing me of making you pass out so I squeezed her hard on her arm to put a stop to her sassy behavior.’ Jones says ever so casually to Susan who is by now fuming in anger.

‘You did what? Have you no respect for women?’ Susan asks him with disappointment, dripping in her voice.

‘Incase you did not hear me well, I said I squeezed her arm to put a stop to her overbearing attitude. She is too sassy for her own good.’ Jones says with no remorse whatsoever in his voice.

‘Jones, you have got to start showing some respect to other people other than yourself.’ Susan says carefully, trying to put her point across but Jones just stares at her as if he has not a word that Susan spoke.

‘Are you even listening to me at all? I demand your attention Jones!’ Susan says frustratingly and this time, she is able to extract an answer from Jones.

‘Hey little human, do not forget your place. Do not try to abuse the little chance I have given you, do not try to misuse my good side because I can switch at any time.’ Jones says threateningly.

‘You are so full of yourself.’ Susan says with an eye roll.

‘And you are so full of bad manners, mate.’ Jones also says to her which gains another eye roll from Susan.

‘Okay, so now tell me, why did you suddenly loose consciousness? Was it because of tiredness or perhaps, hangover?’ Jones asks her, staring straight in her eyes.

‘Aww the big bad demon is worried about me?’ Susan says teasingly, cocking her head to the side to get a clear view of Jones’ face.

‘What no! I do not really care about whatever you choose to do human.’ Jones explains quickly which earns a short chuckle from Susan.

‘Okay, continue thinking you do not care because I know you do.’ Susan responds.

‘Whatever human, I do not have time for your games. Come on, answer my question.’ Jones says, totally ignoring Susan’s words.

‘Okay, I will tell you but could you stop referring to me as human? I have a name.’ Susan says to him sassily.

‘Okay Susan, now will you tell me or what?’ Jones asks with a blank face.

‘Oh geez demon, loosen up a bit. Okay so about the reason why I passed out, if I can quite remember, you said something about how I will not be able to return to the human world ever again. Is that true?’ Susan says with hope shining in her eyes but Jones’ answer shatters all that hope into thousand pieces.

‘Yes I did say that and it is the truth. I am the only one who can create a portal to move to the human world and even that, it has to be for some good reasons.’ Jones explains to his mate.

‘Then I think you can open the portal for me?’ Susan asks with the hope back into her eyes but the hope again shatters with Jones’ words.

‘No I can’t possibly do that. I said I can only open for some very important reasons.’ Jones explains once again with a bored tone.

‘Yes, and I have a very good reason. Do you not consider me wanting to meet my parents and my friends in the human world again an important thing?’ Susan asks Jones.

‘I am not saying you do not have enough good reason but what I want to say is that it is unnecessary for you to go back there. No one remembers you, no one even have an idea that you ever existed, your entire memory has been wiped from there.’ Jones says and every word he says cuts so deep into Susan’s soul.

‘Not even my mum remembers me?’ Susan asks with a low tone.

‘Not even your mum.’ Jones confirms her question and this time, she breaks into full on sobs.

‘Keep calm mate, maybe you will experience some pains but I promise you that it will be over very soon.’ Jones says, trying to console his mate in his own way.

‘It is hard for me Jones, I do not think I can cope in this world without my mother.’ Susan says as she moves closer to Jones.

‘You can cope. You have me, you have Marigold too. Everything is going to be alright.’ Jones says and he finds himself, cradling Susan in his arms.

He strokes her head as she relaxes in his embrace.

Jones stands up abruptly when he becomes full aware of his actions.

‘You must be famished by now and you also need a set of clothes too.’ Jones says as he comes back to his usual intimidating self.

‘Yes I would really like some food and a good hours of bathe will do good to calm myself plus no girl says no to new clothes.’ Susan says excitedly and Jones finds himself smiling at how fast she has switched from crying to her bubbly self at the mention of new dresses.

‘So I there is clothes your size in the closet and the bathroom is over there. Now, I will go and get some food for you.’ Jones says as he points to her the walk in closet and bathroom.

‘Hey, you have human food here?’ Susan asks, surprised that there will be human food there.

‘If there was none what would you do?’ Jones ask, raising an eyebrow her way.

‘I guess I would just learn to eat your food then?’ Susan says, more like questions and Jones on the other hand just lets out a brief chuckle.

‘Do not worry I made preparations for you before I decided to come for you. Now, let me go for the food.’ Jones says as he begins to walk to the door.

‘And how did you get to know about my size?’ Susan throws another question his way.

‘That is some of the specks of been a demon, mate.’ Jones says with a smirk on his lips as he finally leaves the room.

After Jones leaves, Susan gets enveloped in sadness and the desire to runaway gets rekindled in her. She decides to save herself first and later, come for her best-friend.

She moves to the windows and open it.

Before any sense of cautioning can register in her mind, she jumps through the window, throwing herself to the dark abyss.
