Vergil walked through the forest and soon appeared at the area where the rabbits spawned. These rabbits were very elusive and passive animals. While they didn't attack initially, if one aggroed them on, they would suddenly start giving their all. To Vergil, however, these were the most stupidest and easiest mobs, especially with a powerful Bronze Axe in hand that had a blood letting passive.
He quickly jumped into the rabbit mobs jumping around and started slaughtering them. Stellar Ambitions was not just a game about stats and weapons, but also skill. A Full Dive game, a lot of it was about being able to use one's own body perfectly. As Vergil aggroed a rabbit, it suddenly sprang up like a jet towards him, however he moved just the bit slightly sideways before beheading it with the terrifying power of the axe. Each movement consumed stamina, and a total novice like all other players would struggle heavily even against these rabbits. But Vergil was going through them like a machine.
Each time a rabbit fell to its death, it would transform into a pile of meat, a pelt and some iron coins. The iron coins were the lowest denomination currency in the world of Gaia. The death of each rabbit would also signal the chime of some exp being added to Vergil's status, however, it was only to the extent of 3-4 exp. The rabbits were also level 0, just like Vergil, so they were the right level for his charges.
When the fiftieth rabbit died, the burrow near the rabbits began to shake violently and a giant purple colored rabbit about the size of Vergil himself hopped out. It's eyes were blood red and it seemed to be in a rage state. Vergil quickly used the inspect feature on the beast.
[Mutated Jumpy Rabbit] (Berserk)
[Level 2]
Vergil nodded. This was what he was looking for, a mob that appeared when 50 of the normal jumpy rabbits were slaughtered within the span of an hour. Back in the previous life, it took at least a week until someone got proficient enough to be able to slaughter the rabbits within an hour. Vergil only took twenty five minutes and he was only level 0.
Gripping the axe, Vergil got into a defensive stance because hi rags had almost no defensive value. With his low level, he could not risk enduring a hit from this berserk state mutate. The rabbit did not give Vergil any further time to consider possibilities and directly slammed into him. However, Vergil bent his right knee and lowered his posture to avoid the high jump kick from the rabbit before turning around and swinging the axe on the back of the creature, sniping its back.
While the wound was miniature and the rabbit simply snorted it off and roared while maneuvering an attack again, Vergil on the other hand was relieved. His first attack had activated the blood letting skill causing the rabbit's hp to keep dropping periodically over time. Vergil concentrated on dodging the attacks from the berserker rabbit while also picking up stones from the ground and throwing them to taunt it and enraging it. Five minutes later, the rabbit collapsed onto the ground without much of a fight and died. The carcass disappeared leaving behind 5 giant purple pelts, several iron coins, some mutated rabbit meat and a lot of exp. Vergil quickly grabbed the items and transferred them to the storage. His exp had risen half way towards level 1 now.
After the cycle ended, Vergil began slaughtering the rabbits again until the Purple colored mutate rabbit spawned again. If any other player would have seen Vergil's moves at this point, they would've been flabbergasted by his maneuvering. He was dodging with such fluid motions that made him look like a veteran of the battlefield. Unfortunately, at this moment all the players were still busy exploring the Red Leaf Town. A couple of hours passed by and Vergil finally finished his fifth go at the berserk mutate rabbit. Finally an update appeared in his vision mentioning that he had now raised his Level to 1.
[Name - Vergil]
[Species - Human]
[Class - Commoner]
[Occupation - None]
[Level - 1 (+1)]
[Comprehensive Strength - 0.4 (+0.2)]
[Comprehensive Intelligence - 0.4 (+0.2)]
[Skills - None]
In the early levels there wasn't much choice when it came to assigning stats. The stats would automatically get boosted into the two categories of Comprehensive Strength and Intelligence. As for the actual stats those were hidden and basically improved based on the playstyle. Vergil quickly left the rabbit spawn area and headed straight back to the gate of Red Leaf Town.
The moment the players saw him, they point at him again. Finding a red marked player at this time of the game was extremely odd and people began whispering, waiting for the guard to take action.
"Criminal! You actually dare to return?" The guard yelled out angrily. Vergil raised both his arms out in a defensive posture and admitted defeat. "I understand the error of my ways and wish to be judged in the court of law!"
The guard snorted again but nodded. "Very well. We town residents aren't barbarians. The Mayor of the town will judge your crimes!" Vergil saw a notification appear in his vision.
[You have surrendered to the guard for trial. Your weapons and storage is now sealed.]
The guard dragged Vergil away while the other players looked on with dumbfounded expressions. "He... just allowed himself to be prosecuted? Is it some secret quest?" Someone loudly wondered. "Let's follow him and see what happens!"
The group followed the guard and Vergil who was being led into the large courtroom at the center of the town. When they arrived at the gates, they were blocked by the court guards from entering. "Who allowed you the tenacity to barge in, huh?" The guard screamed and slammed his spear into the ground, creating a shockwave pushing every other player back onto the ground.
"What? How is he being allowed in?" Some of the chastised players pointed at Vergil who was being dragged in unceremoniously.
