The flight toward the ruins of Izalith was without incident as not many beings would dare take on a dragon. To be frank not many could with the current state of the world as most of the beings that did were either dead or worse off.
The human armies and champions that would hunt them in the past were all but dead so they were without equal. Especially one the size and purity of Devastator who could be said to be the second biggest dragon in this world after Amara.
A benefit of his smaller size is that while she was larger and could cover more ground he was faster. He managed to make the trip in about the same amount of time as her so he started looking for a place to stop.
Once he was over the Valley of Drakes he glided down toward the cliff and dug his claws into the rock. He was ready in case his weight was too much, but thankfully the cliff held up.
He placed his head on the ledge so everyone could jump off. Once they were off Adrian placed his hand on his snout and with a smile. If you want the loyalty of your pets, treat them like friends than slaves.
"Thanks, bud, you can go explore if you want."
When the dragon heard that he immediately took off as all dragons liked to fly and explore. Adrian knew that his dragons would not be able to enjoy this freedom in DxD human world so he wanted them to enjoy it.
He hopes they learned some DxD dragon skills which would mean he has to tame a dragon from DxD to teach them. He thought of Tiamat who could be said to be the strongest of the 5 Dragon Kings. She could even make Draig shiver so he was interested in her.
'In the current time of DxD she said she would become the familiar of anyone who beat her, but who knows what the current her is like. Oh well, I will figure it out.'
He ignored his imagination and turned to the large group he had with him. He coughed to get their attention so they all turned to him waiting for what he wanted to say.
"Alright, we are going to be entering into Blighttown once more. Solaire, August, Seraphine you three know how bad it is here so get ready again."
They cringed as not only did it smell like shit it was also like tar. Just walking in it was hard so they steeled their resolve for the nastyness. August turned to the Fume Knights to clarify just how bad it was.
"Well imagine shit and tar. Mix them together and that is what you get inside this garbage pit. Also, it is poisonous, but the good thing all of us are immune to it."
Priscilla was now glad she started to wear shoes and armor as that sounded horrible. She was wearing a Fume Knight armor set as she wanted to look like Adrian and Seraphine.
"Uncle, is there a better way to do this?"
Adrian nodded.
"We call Amara here and she digs into the mountain. However, it would fill the mountain with rubble and I have a friend down there. Grit your teeth and deal with it. As much as I hate it."
If Solaire were here he would have laughed at Seraphien as now she would not have Adrian to keep her out of the sludge She sighed and started to enter the terrible place.
"Come on, when we reach the bottom we separate. I hope this is worth it Adrian."
He was not too worried as he knew she was going to find another nearly purebred Stone Dragon. It was not a true Everlasting Dragon, but it was enough for him to be interested in it.
"You won't be disappointed. Come on, time to descend into sludge hell."
Once they began to enter the disgusting land of Blighttown they rushed through like ravenous beasts. Every single enemy they encountered was crushed and torn apart by brute force or mad warriors.
If not that they would be incinerated by the lightning from August or turned to dust by Adrian's flames. Ciaran would vanish like a fleeting phantom and take heads of any enemy she set her knives at.
The scary one was Adrian as he did not even draw his weapons and was using his fists. An Infested Barbarian swung a club at him, but he just grabbed it by the neck crushing the windpipe.
Nasty blood was placed on Adrian's armor, but it evaporated as the spirit of the armor hated it. Adrian ripped the head off from its shoulders and threw it at another one causing both to explode.
Seeing his display pushed the Fume Knights to even higher levels of brutality. One thing about them was that each one loved battle. As they massacred everything in their path with wide grins.
They were not wearing any helmets so their bloodthirsty grins were clear to see for everyone. They were not even getting injured as the blows could not get through their armor.
Their skin was like a second suit of armor with how durable it became from all the souls they absorbed. Ciaran and Artorias shook their heads at this, but it was why the Fume Knights were so feared.
Once they shed first blood they did not stop until everything in their path was dead. Even the armies of Giants and Silver knights were all but destroyed by only 200 of them.
As a woman Ciaran turned to Seraphine to ask her a personal question.
"How do you deal with such a lover?"
When she looked at her side Ciaran did not see Seraphine at all. She had joined the brutal butchering going on. Artorias looked at Seraphine and understood why they got so along.
"She fits right in with the Fume Knights. No wonder Adrain and Seraphine are so close."
Priscilla sighed looking at her uncle and friend.
"Uncle and Seraphine are the exact same. Both love to fight and fight. Give them a minute and they will calm down when nothing else is in their path."
Artorias saw she was right as now there was only one thing left. It was a small wounded hollow. He thought it would fight back as they were famous for not having a preservation instinct.
Yet he ended up seeing a shocking sight.
"Is it running away? How?"
Priscilla pointed at Adrian.
"Uncle can be terrifying."
Harold pulled out a Dragonslayer bow and knocked in a giant arrow. Once it ran they saw it as a good chance to use these.
"Boom"
When he let loose what was more like a spear than an arrow the whole chest cavity was destroyed. It dropped dead which made all of the Fume Knight wish something bigger attacked.
Garold wrapped his arm around his brother with a grin.
"Nice shot, still now we got this shit."
He pointed at the sludge so Adrian stepped into the sludge and sighed.
"Here is where we split. Everyone knows what are they doing?"
Artorias crossed his arms as he stepped into it.
"We have to go down the hollow while you guys go into Izalith. Good luck brother."
Priscilla rushed at Adrian and hugged him. She also stole a quick kiss from him with a smile.
"Be careful uncle. I know you get into trouble a lot."
Seraphine jumped into his arms and kissed him real quick.
"Be careful you big lug. I need you alive."
He just smiled as he put her down.
"Yeah, I know. You too Priscilla, take care."
Once they split up his group started to walk toward Quellag and her sister to check upon them. As the 10 giant knights walked the ground they did not stay quiet as they had a lot to talk about random stuff.
They were more like a group of rowdy friends.
"Hey captain, what would happen if you had kids with Priscilla?"
Everyone turned to look at Gabriel who was known as the jokester. They also were curious about the result which made Adrian shrug.
"How should I know?"
August nodded with a smile on his face.
"Than we need you to reproduce soon. I want to be an uncle again."
Adrian scoffed.
"How about you have a kid first. I don't like kids."
Everyone laughed at him as Harold and Garold wrapped their arms around his neck. Harold called him out on some bulllshit he smelled.
"That is a sack of bullshit and you know it. When Priscila was a little girl you would break the legs of any kids who bullied her. I remember you once forced a little boy to apologize as you threatened to kill his dad."
Garold nodded.
"Or the fact you would follow her around to make sure she was safe. No one messed with her as they knew her uncle would protect her. Look at you now."
Adrian sighed as moved their arms from his shoulders.
"She is one thing, having my own is different."
Quellag who was hearing them crawled out which made them all draw their weapons except Adrian and August. Both of them called off the knights.
"She is a friend."
Hearing both of them vouch for her that was enough for them. They put their weapon up, but Baldwin noticed something.
"You are princess Quellag right?"
Quellag nodded with a frown.
"I see you all still remember me. Captain, are you here to learn more pyromancy?"
Adrian shook his head.
"Not at the moment, we are beginning our assault on Izalith. We are going to put your brother to rest."
Her face turned awful as that was her younger brother. His whole life was filled with pain, but this way he would finally rest.
"I wish you luck, the entrance is this way."
She led the knights toward the entrance of Izalith where her brother stood. When she laid eyes on the giant monstrosity that her brother had become she shed a tear. She walked toward him which made him look at her.
He did not attack which made this all the sadder for her. He kept glancing at the corpse of one of his sisters in the shrine. His only comfort was the belief that they still cared for him.
Quellag reached out and placed her hand on his lava-spewing skin. It burned her, but not as much as she was resistant to fire.
"I am sorry my brother. Please rest soon."
She left the knights to their work which was the murder of her brother. In her mind, she decided to view this as them putting him to rest which they should have done long ago. Since his birth all he knew was pain and now it would end.
Adrian drew his greatsword as he stood in front of the giant. He turned to his knights and held it in both hands.
"All of you, make this as fast as we can."
August stood next to him and caused his Swordspear to crackle with lightning. It made Ceaseless look at the thunder with curiosity as he was not attacked yet. All of the knights had their weapons drawn and ready.
Adrian did the same for his sword and he took up a stance. He looked at August and gave the order.
"NOW!"
Both knights charged at the face of the giant as his arm was still bound to his body. A giant spear of lightning and an explosion of Blackfire hit his face causing horrendous damage.
The first blow caused parts of his body to fall off and the corruption of the flames damaged him further. Not only that he felt his Life Force drain weakening him further.
It caused him to stumble backward in pain and confusion. He ripped his arm bound to his chest to fight back, but Adrian jumped on his body and drove his greatsword into his body.
He gripped his sword firmly and slashed down opening up the giant's gut. Lava rained down on him covering him head to toe Ceaseless roared in agony, but that was just the start.
Adrian and his armor were fine as Fume Knights were already fireproof. All the knights jumped on his lava-like body as they cut giant slashes into his body. Each one opened him up further, but the finishing blow was August's.
He ran up the body toward the mass of fire tentacles and raised his Swordspear above his head.
"Die."
When he drove it in, the lightning exploded in the head being the fatal blow. His death throes and he collapsed into the lava dead. The soul of Ceaseless floated in front of August who held it in his hands.
It was bright red and cracking with flames which he decided to keep. He was not sure if he would take it as he did not have the flame abilities of most Fume Knights. He stored it away for now as they now were on the corpse over the lava pool.
He walked up to Adrian who was sitting on the corpse.
"I don't think we will have to wait long August."
"What makes you say that Captain?"
Adrian pointed at the lava that already started to drain.
"I think Izalith had paths made for the lava. It is already lowering. Also, you can keep the soul of Ceaseless. Get ready for the main assault. We will have an army of demons on our hands soon."
August looked at the knights who all had grouped up.
"How was that for a warm-up boys?"
Edmund placed his naginata on his shoulders and shrugged.
"It was not bad, but it could be better. What do you think captain?"
Adrian grinned as he got off the body.
"Well put those words and souls we used to the test. We got them to deal with."
In the lava that was already quite a bit lower so many demons were waking up. They had been sleeping in the warmth of the lava, but now that Ceaseless died they were awakening.
The lava was at knee level which was high enough so they all stepped into it. Servin sighed in relief as he liked the warmth of the lava.
"A lava bath sounds nice, it is warm and toasty."
Adrian shrugged.
"Not if it turns to stone. Come on, time to kill. Helmets on."
All of them placed the helmets on as they walked toward the gathering l army of demons. Soon the demons would see why the Fume Knights were more demons than actual demons.
