The bellows of demons and the roars of mad knights were heard in the land of Izalith. All of Izalith was up in arms to deal with the invades that were only 10, but each one had the power of an army.
A Capra demon roared to gather more demons to the cause of defending the Bed of Chaos. These invaders were after their mother and they would not let them through at any cost. Taurus, Capra and Stray demons rushed here only to end up littering the ground with corpses.
Harold jumped in the air and swung his axes at his sides decapitating two Taurus demons.
"MORE!"
He threw his axes at a large Capra demon which was like a leader killing it. He called his weapons back to his hands and slashed around reaping lives and body parts. A giant Demon Sorcer began to make fire rain from the sky, but August was ready.
He twirled his Swordspear countering the fire with lightning. He launched his weapon at it which stabbed right into the head killing it instantly. It fell to the ground join the floor with the rest of the bodies.
"Not bad sir."
August called his weapon back as he looked on.
"Don't get distracted, Gabriel. Look at the captain."
He glanced at Adrian who was in the thick of it surrounded by demons. Each swing of his longsword cleaved the demons in two. His greatsword smashed them into paste while still cutting from the power behind his blow.
Adrian ignited in backfire stabbing his sword into the ground causing massive pillars of flames in a giant area around him. All the demons around him died and had their souls reaped.
Gabriel swung one of his halberds cutting a demon's legs off. Once it was down he drove one of his halberds into it's back killing it.
"Yeah, I can see that."
Harold and Garold walked looked around and saw only bodies. Most of the remaining demons alive were clinging to life as they were already wounded. A capra demon grabbed Harold's leg and spoke.
It only said the word 'please' as best it could. Harold saw fear and tears in it's eyes, but he did not care. He raised his foot and crushed it's head. Garold looked at the demon with interest.
"Are demons sentient?"
Harold nodded.
"Looks like it. Does it change the mission brother?"
Garold shook his head.
"Nah, just interesting."
Adrian whistled for all of them so they all joined up. Adrian placed his swords on his back as he looked around.
"Take a 15-minute break. Store all of these bodies, even if most of their blood and skin is ruined it is still good material to use. As for the demon souls keep them if you want."
All of them were happy as demon souls were much stronger than normal souls. It was too bad that most demons did not respawn as they were from the Chaos flame. They stored the bodies away and once they finished they sat around in a circle.
Adrian placed his helmet on his lap as he looked at them.
"How is your progress in soul control?"
August shrunk down to 6 feet exactly making him feel small.
"I managed to achieve it. As for my soul ability, it is all about controlling lightning. Seems I inherited some more of our ancestor than others."
Adrian thought that maybe giving the Lord Soul to Solaire was not such a good idea. After all, he and the Fume Knights were related to Gwyn. It would be better for a decedent to gain the lord soul.
All of the Fume Knights looked at him and broke out laughing. Gabriel patted his head with a smile he was so short.
"Guess you are now Cabbage."
August returned to his full height which was taller than Gabriel. August towered over his which made him take back his statement.
"It was a joke, sir."
August waved him off.
"Whatever, everyone up. We attack."
All of them got off the rocks and they began the journey into Izalith. The good thing was that many of the demons had already been killed so it made the job easier. As they walked through the ruins they started to find stragglers which ran in terror.
Of course, they did not get far when Dragonslayer arrows rained down on them. It was fun to do as they walked around looting anything they found. It was a lesson that Adrian had taught them well, if it looks valuable take it.
Adrian looked around and started to see small demons spying on them. From the look of it they were scouts who had survived the first massacre, but they too were sniped by giant arrows.
He looked around at the ruins and nodded. As they went deeper they saw a large fog gate which meant a trapped demon. Of course, they also had to deal with the giant worms which were easier than the demons.
Adrian threw his sword at the huge worm and killed it as its brain was pierced.
"Be careful with those dicks. They use poison and are gross."
The knights did as he said and used ranged attacks to kill them He was right about them being gross as they smelled even worse than Blighttown. Harold launched both of his axes at their heads which killed them in one blow.
Headshots were nearly always the best as, without a brain, most beings died. Adrian looked at the giant bodies of the worms and stored them away. He stepped in front of the fog gate
"Come on, we got a demon to kill."
All of them were ready and they entered inside. They expected something grand or different, but it was another Fire Sage. They had killed many of them at the start, so Baldwin held his great hammer ready to kill it.
"May I captain?"
Adrian saw how it was charging at them and nodded.
"Have at it."
Baldwin leaped forward into the air and brought down his hammer on the demon's face. The sound of broken bones and exploding brain matter made Adrian smile.
"You got it in one blow. Well done."
The demon's body fell to the ground with blood leaking from the wound. The power of these guys was no joke as at the start of his journey he could already lift a Taurus demon.
Now he was not sure exactly how much he could lift, but it was not going to be small.
"Thank you, captain."
Adrain motion for them to follow.
"Come on, we are close I think."
Ferdinand looked around and sighed.
"I can see why you wanted a team with you. This is long and tedious."
Adrian nodded.
"Correct, this place is like a maze. Better to have some company as it will get boring."
August brought up a good point he was curious about.
"Could you have done this on your own?"
"Definitely, I think any one of us could but it would belong boring. Better to go as a group. Alright, let's move."
This time they stopped walking and started to run toward the ruins. Just like Adrian, they all were deceptively quick as they charged through any obstacles in their way. If it was a wall they smashed through it, if it was a demon they killed it.
When they encountered the Centipede Demon its two arms roared at them. August moved toward it while he spun his Swordspear.
"I got it."
August dodged the first centipede and kicked off the second one before he swung upward with the momentum of his spin. He cut the demon in half before he harvested the soul of it.
August looked unbothered and stored the body and kept walking.
"Move it men, we got a Lord Soul to claim by the end of the day."
Adrian chuckled at how serious August could be during missions.
"You heard the man, come on them. Time to put all this brawn to work."
"HOORAH."
They continued down and started to traverse old Izalith which was full of lava. No issue to them so they just walked through it. Eventually, they reached the dragon legs which made them all recoil.
August looked at the small group of the half of dragons with a look of pity.
"Kill them all and quickly. Put the poor things out of their misery."
Adrian nodded and grabbed his greatswod.
"Be quick about it, let's move."
All the Fume Knights had respect for dragon kind so they all were ready.
"Yes sir."
The Fume Knights would kill each leg with as few blows as they could. They would cut them in half or smash them apart to kill them quickly. They were not strong at all to them so it only took them a few minutes.
They could not even harvest anything from them as they crumbled to dust. The only thing animating them was the flame of Chaos so once killed they returned to dust.
Adrian sighed and kept walking as they were very close.
"Come on then, let's go. We are nearing the end."
They continued on their journey which was a lot easier than the first part. They did encounter a Titanite Demon which turned out to be just as easy as the first one Adrian killed.
A few blows and it crumbled into parts to be melted down. They took it back and after killing a few fire statues they stood in front of the fog gate of the Bed of Chaos.
Adrian looked at the knights and motioned for them to follow.
"Come on and let's kill her."
All of them entered the fog gate and began to slide down toward the room. When they landed they analyzed the situation of the Bed of Chaos and knew what to do. Adrian yelled out the orders to get them to move.
"Kill the anchors and fast. August we distract it."
"Yes sir."
Both of them rushed at the mass of roots and rained down lightning and blackfire on it. Adrian's flames drained life force and corrupted which began to burn the roots. As for August, his lightning was even stronger than Solaire's as it was not the result of faith.
It was his genuine ability which was why Adrian had decided to give him the soul of Gwyn. The giant Bed of Chaos began to charge up an explosion of flames, but the 2 anchors were killed easily.
The moment the anchos and the mutated daughters of Chaos were dead Adrian moved in. He cut through the roots that attacked him with August at his side.
They smashed through the small bramble and he now saw the grub that remained of the Witch. He swung down his greatsword cutting it in half. Unlike Nito who actually put up a fight, she could not.
The moment it was dead the fire of the Chaos flame was extinguished. Every demon alive no matter where felt the death of their mother and felt her power die. They wanted to rage, mourn, and get revenge, but it was pointless.
Without the Flame of Chaos, they were going to begin to decline. Adrian knew that while the Bed of Chaos was dead, it would take ages for it to kill off the demons. Ds3 is when they were on their last legs, but this was a terrible loss for demons.
Adrian picked up the burning Lord Soul of the witch with a smile. He felt his soul hunger for it just as with the soul of Manus.
"Now, we are almost finished."
August looked on at the soul and nodded.
"Only Gwyn remains."
"Correct my friend. We only need to kill him and this charade ends."
He brought out the black murky soul of Manus and felt that his soul wanted both equally. August looked at the soul of Manus with apprehension.
"The Dark Soul."
Adrian shook his head.
"Wrong, it is only a large chunk of it. If I wanted the whole thing I would have to kill all of humanity for it. This is good enough, for now, come on them. Let's get out of here."
When both of them walked out the Knights were waiting for them. Seeing how the fire died out they cheered that their mission was complete. Adrian looked at all of them.
"Well, it's fucking dead now for good. I say we earned a decent break right?"
Harold nodded.
"Yeah, hope that Solaire and Carnage found some kingdoms."
Adrian nodded.
"We can only hope. Let's get out of here."
With the Witch dead it made their exit much easier as the surviving demons were weakened with the flame. Adrian knew that the time for him to leave this world was soon. He wanted to be ready for it which he felt decently prepared.
